Has anybody buy park tickets on e-bay

All park tickets are tied to a specific person now, so you wouldn't be able to use any tickets from E-bay since you weren't the original owner. At least that is how I believe it works

:flower: I personally would'nt risk it....
When we were in Disney in June there was a family there who bought tickets off the internet (Ebay) and they were no good... the kids were crying and the parents looked mortified... they ended up having to go to the ticket booth and drop God knows how much money for new tickets cuz the kids were hysterical....
I would go the safde way but thats just me......

You cannot tell if the tickets have been used or not. The only way you can verify is in person at Disney. They will not verify over the phone. (At that point, it is too late if the tickets are no good. You are out the money and will have to pay more money for active tickets.)

Be smart and buy from Disney directly. That way you know the tickets are good.

I purchased a 2 day park hopper with bonus Disney Quest or Pleasure Island for $129.00. I'm very cautious when purchasing something on Ebay so if it's a good deal and it's legit then i buy. Of course, alot of researching goes on before i place my bid or commit to purchasing them.

I checked the merchants feedback and asked others who posted positive feedback how their trip went. They said the passes worked exactly as described. Out of 20 people i asked all said they had no problems. The business is also located in Kissimmee so you can also visit them should a problem arise. I'll post back after my trip to let you all know how it went in regards to the tickets. If anyone wants the Ebayer i purchased them from PM me.

EDIT:
The same ticket purchased through WDW is $199.00. I also should have mentioned that this merchant was recommended by a family member who used their services to purchase tickets to WDW also. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable. For me, saving $70.00 a ticket from a proven merchant who has a physical place of business in Kissimmee and who has been in the travel business for over 25 years was worth it to me. :goodvibes

It doesn't matter how many good stories you hear about buying tickets on eBay, it may be your story that is the sad story.

Not recommended unless you don't have to pay until after the ticket is scanned (down at Disney) and verified to have what was advertised. Which no (correction, hardly any,) seller will go along with so I might as well have put a period after "not recommended".

I would never risk buying a Disney ticket on ebay. Mainly because there is absolutely no way to know if it's any good until you get there and that's WAY too much stress for me, no matter how great the seller's feedback is!

Another thing about Disney tickets I've seen on ebay....I don't see them going for all that much cheaper than you can get them from a certified seller like Ticket Mania or even from Disney itself. In fact, I've seen several go for MORE than they sell for at Disney? I don't get that. :confused3

You don't have to buy from Disney directly; there are reputable ticket whole salers cheaper. Check out www.ticketmania.com and mapleleaftickets.com. Try researching these on the Budget Board. You can save money and not take a chance of getting ripped off.

If you look, often times the "discount" eBay ticket winners get is only ~10% or less. To me it isn't worth risking 100% to save 10%, particularly when there are legitimate discounters out there that can make the "savings" even less vs. eBay.

Last year, I bought 2 2 Day Hopper Tickets on Ebay and I like another poster did a lot of research on the person I was buying it from. I think that there are now certain laws and rules around it as well because you don't see nearly as many tickets on Ebay as you used to.

It is also correct that once you buy the tickets, you don't know until you get to Disney if they are valid or not! I was really really really stressed out about it until we got there. I am not doing it again!

Buying tickets even on the Disney Website is very easy and pretty affordable in comparasion. Don't risk it!

Even if you get good tickets with remaining days from someone on E-Bay you would not be able to use them. The new bioscan system for the fingers locks the ticket into the first person who used it. That is the only person who can use that ticket going forward. I'm not sure what Disney would do in this situation. They might tell you the tickets are no good and then you are out of luck and money.

Update as promised:

The tickets purchased on Ebay worked fine. I didn't have a problem whatsoever. All of the research i did paid off and i never really worried about them not working. I purchased a 2 day park hopper with Disney Quest or Pleasure Island for $129.00. The company is also located in Kissimmee. :wizard:

You bought convention tickets.

For anyone else who wants these without the EBAY risk. Go to www.mousesavers.com and sign up for the monthly newsletter. It recently had some good deals on these tickets (basically the same price as above). They won't let us "link" from here so you have to get Mary's email.

Also, watch the expiration dates. The ones currently being sold by Disney expire 12/31/05. I am looking for these for my mom and am waiting until next year to get tickets good in 06.

Yes they were convention tickets, but they worked as any other ticket would as they did on my trip. The expiration date was 12/31/05 and said they needed to be used before then and that they would expire after 10 days of first use.

I knew they were convention tix when i purchased them and i didn't need to stay at the park or didn't require any other type of stipulation to use them. I learned this basically through here and the many discussions on those types of tickets. Me plus 1800 others buying tickets from the same company with 99.9% positive feedback is good enough incentive to buy again. The .1% is from someone who did not receive their tickets in time last year due to bad weather and they left negative feedback. The tickets working isn't luck...just good planning on my part as i already had other tickets from years past. The old tickets could have easily not worked also, however they would have been much easier to deal with at customer service at the park. :teeth:

This thing could get beat down everytime someone mentions purchasing ebay tickets instead of through mousesavers or directly throught the wdw site. I personally don't care where i buy them from as long as i get a good deal. If the other sites give me a good enough deal then i'll take it, if not then i'll go elsewhere.

Bottom line is i'm still going to WDW to have fun. Nothing can spoil our time there...not even a problem with ticket(s). :goodvibes

The countdown is on till next Disney World trip. :hourglass

I was just pointing out that there were other ways to get these tickets... WOW! there was no need to get your back up.

However, I won't buy tickets on EBAY (of course, I have only bought like one thing ever there LOL!)

I did read a post several years ago by a woman who was doing Disney on a VERY tight buget, got to the parks only to discover all she had left were plus options.... SHe had to call her mom for a loan to buy tickets :YIKES!!!
