I posted this on the Transportation board, but since it involves a Universal location, I am not sure I will get a lot of responses, as most people there are familiar with the Disney stuff.

So, I thought I would ask all my fine Universal friends.

I needed an Excursion from Hertz (great corporate rates, so we always opt for Hertz) for our Thanksgiving trip. We have 8 people, mostly kids and a Mother/MIL, so two cars won't work. And a car that can transport everybody is a necessity this trip, as this is a family reunion. The reunion is over at the Beach Club, but we much prefer our little suite at PBH with platinum over being crammed in a room at BC. Go figure :teeth: But we do have to make an appearance over at Disney at least once :sunny:

So, of course I procrastinated until 6 months before a holiday period and all the excursions are gone for our time period. At MCO that is. They are available at PBH. However, no amount of cajolling, pleading, bribing, etc with Hertz will get them to have the car moved and available for us at the airport. Noooo...we have to get a taxi, pick up the car and then go back for the others.

I am still hoping that somebody will cancel between now and Thanksgiving and we can get the car at MCO, but with our luck, that won't happen. The upside is that I can stay there and get us all checked in while DH goes back to the airport to get the kids and mother.

So, anybody know anything about the Hertz place at PBH? Are the cars actually there? Do they have Gold access or will I have to go into the lobby and get the keys?

Thanks!!

I havent ever rented a car at universal, but I love the topic! :rotfl:

Anyhoo... instead of having to drive all the way back to the airport to pick up the rest of the gang, have you thought about getting a towncar service for transportation? They have vans for large groups and they are extreemly reasonable! Actually, depending on if you drive around alot or not you might actually come out ahead if you dont rent a car and just use the towncar services.

See - I knew somebody here would answer. Nobody has even looked at my question on the transportation board :) Disney people. Hmmph. (Before any Disney people get their knickers in a twist - that was a joke)

We have stayed at PBH many, many a times, and for the life of me, I can't remember ever seeing a Hertz counter, any signs or anyplace where they have cars. Unless it is down that dark hallway that is supposed to look like an outside walkway (where the ATM is).

What - get a town car and make it convenient for all the nieces? DH might actually get a chuckle out of leaving MIL at the airport :-)

As for doing the town car thing during the week, we always like to have a car when we go, as we like to venture off site. We prefer to make our own "adult" drinks in the evening. And to stock up on kids stuff. So we need a means of transportation to the store. Yeah - that's right, we need to stock up on kids snacks. Lots of them (That liquor store still next to the Publix?).

And DH absolutely has to make it to the Edwin Watts outlet at least once :)

This thread could be like the Where's Waldo thread?

Where's Hertz?

As I recall, it is located just outside the main entrance to the Club Level Lounge on the right as you approach. We didn't need the services, however, I think I remember seeing it there...I think...well maybe... :confused3  :rotfl:

I'm going from memory. Isn't it across from the concierge desk, down the hallway to the rooms on the left of the courtyard?

The towncar service will take you to the grocery store/licquor store on your way to the hotel. I'd price a one day rental and towncars for any other traveling that needs to be done. It may be cheaper than renting for the entire time, especially since you need something so large for the whole gang.

Thanks all. We are going to take a limo from the airport to PBH and then just go over to Hertz when we get there. Just couldn't bring ourselves to leave Mom at the airport with the grandkids :goodvibes

As for just doing a one day rental - unfortunately not going to work for us this time around. We have this crazy group of relatives that think the Beach Club is the better place for a family reunion. We are being naughty rebels and staying at PBH because of our Platinum upgrades. And I don't get FOTL at BC!

However, we do need to show our faces a few times over there, which means we need to have a car at our disposal.
