What type of rides do you think Harry Potter Wizarding World will have ?

Roller Coasters - like Space Mtn?
Sit down and view - like It's a Samll World ?
Wet & wild - like Splash Mountain ?

Any more info about Harry Potter Wizarding World ?

On the boards someone said opening date is late 2009 or early 2010.

Like nothing we've ever seen before...I can nearly guarantee that much if all of the technology Universal has been getting involved in come to fruition

Right and I think the robotic arm that Disney can no longer use due to the 10 year exclusive rights to Universal which came with the Harry Potter deal will blow everyone's mind. I think it's going to be completely cutting edge...whatever they build.

Can you explain more about this?? What is it?

something like this:

I still don't understand what the arm does and what the agreement was. Could someone explain for those who have no idea? Thanks.

Basically, as far as I understand it, the Kuka robot company (they are the ones with the innoventions display) created a large enough arm to carry people in a ride mechanism. Some of these rides in small form are already in some parks like Legoland in CA.

Universal was able to gain exclusive rights to this largest ride mechanism...and from what I've heard, kept Disney from developing a possible Incredibles themed ride which had been planned the same technology (again just a rumor)

The Kuka robotic arm is a new technology which allows rides who don't have a lot of space to move the vehicles in all different directions. As part of the deal with Warner Bros for the Harry Potter land, Universal secured the exclusive rights to the robotic arm technology in development. Disney was supposedly working on a ride based on The Incredibles using this ride system but had to abandon this particular concept since they could no longer use the robotic arm. The Nemo and friends ride at Epcot uses this arm but since Disney can no longer develop new rides with that technology, you won't be seeing it anywhere but a Universal theme park.

Ok this part is confusing me. I've ridden the Nemo ride many times and it seems to be just a slow moving ride similar to Haunted Mansion except you ride in a clamshell instead of a doombuggy. What part would use a robotic arm?

From what I understand, the arm is being used for the angular fish sequence of the ride...not the actual ride itself.

Here's a link to the story from Jim Hill (I know I know) but it's right on track. The robotic arm part of the story is about half way down:

Oh, ok. I'll have to pay attention next time. I just rode it a couple of days ago and didn't notice it. The ride itself is slow moving and smooth.

Yes, and it's "Angler" fish ;)

It's the only scary/startling part of the ride with the fish quickly moving and chasing Dori (and nemo?) around in many different directions. It startled me and I got stuck in that area the first time I was on the ride....the thing is very quick.

I hope that there's the major E-Ticket family thrill ride.

I hope that Hogwarts Castle isn't a walk-through. We're going to be dealing with a lot of crowds (Hello, IOA filled to capacity) and I don't see how they're going to keep that manageable and people moving when it's really busy. I hope instead it's a Haunted Mansion-style omnimover that takes you through the castle.

I hope there's a few rides for kids and their families and that's about it.

I'm not asking for much, am I?

I just got back  from US/IOA. We saw glimpses of the construction - nothing exciting, just some large earth-moving machines at work - from the Flying Unicorn.

Jim Hill posted some construction pictures earlier (2/20/08) this month. The URL is too long (and I'm not good at putting things in HTML), but check out the home page ( http://jimhillmedia.com/) and scroll down until you see "Steal a glimpse and/or glimpse some steel at the "Harry Potter" construction site." He says that the Flying Unicorn will be rethemed as a Harry Potter ride, but doesn't talk about new attractions.

I am so excited! Dh has dealt with Kuka robotics in alot of his work and they are amazing. I recognized the Kuka arm in Nemo right off the bat....didn't know about the 10 year hold/etc. though.
