Who is you favorite character and why? Also if you saw the movie, did you feel there movie counterpart was right?


I am a Snape fan....just something about him. I also like Lucious Malfoy. I am all for the villians...I felt both parts were perfect in the movie too....But I almost prefer Lucious over Snape...Like i said, i am a sucker for the villian

Hermione...and I think the girl in the movie was PERFECT.

I thought Snape was cool in the movies but my favorite character both in the book & movies is Hermione. She's just lovable IMO.

My favorite character is Hagrid. He's got such a heart of gold. And I think the actor who portrayed him in the movie was perfect. Snape is kind of growing on me. IMO, the book series seems to be leading to some kind of confrontation between Snape and the death eaters. If that does happen, I think we will see that Snape is as much a hero as a villian. JMO. I can't imagine anyone else but Alan Rickman as Snape. He is superb!

BTW, since the passing of Richard Harris, how do you think the part of Dumbledore will be re-cast?

I'm a Snape fan as well, plus Lupin, Sirius, and Fawkes.

I think that the movies have done a pretty good job of condensing everything into the time limits allowed, and moving from the written medium to film, but some things in them drive me NUTS, especially the end of Chamber of Secrets movie. What the heck was that?

edited to add- Richard Harris knew that he probably wouldn't make it through all of the movies, so he began searching for look-alikes and voice doubles a while back. The new Dumbledore has been cast, but I can't remember who it was.

Both Hermione and Ron- I think they are more entertaining characters than Harry himself. I thought the film actors were perfect.

I love Ron! He had DH and I laughing a lot during Chamber of Secrets.
And he is growing up to become quite the cutie!

My daughter's favorite is Draco Malfoy she thinks he is so mean that it is funny, and Ron Weasley because he is funny.

I like Ron because I have always had a thing for redheads and I love his facial expressions.

I love Ron Weasley!! I think Rupert Grint is adorable, and so funny!!!! I agree, he and Hermione are more interesting than Harry himself.

I cannot stand Draco, yuck. The casting of pretty much everyone though, is absolutely perfect. The only casting I've ever been disappointed in was Moaning Myrtle. I thought she was way too cute for what she was described as in the books.

Snape and Lucious Malfoy were perfectly cast.

I am such a fan of these stories!! Read all four books in a week and a half.

My favorite character is Harry. Daniel Ratcliffe is PERFECT for the part. However, Ron in the movies looks much differently than what i imagined when reading the books. I actually pictured him to be a skinny, freckled, ragged Kool-Aid mustache kind of kid.
I do perfer the books much more than the movies. I enjoyed the movies, yet they actually seemed boring to me. Just long...probably because i knew what was going to happen. But, the movie did an excellent job of portraying everything! I swear that everything i envisioned is exact in the movie as far as Hogwarts and its layout. It's actually kind of scary how it's just exactly the same as my mental picture.

Thought Lucious Malfoy portryal was RIGHT on. Was not so impressed with Gilderoy Lockhart though.

Also read who is taking Richard Harris' place...another English actor, but do not remember his name, nor did he look familiar.

So excited for the 5th book!!!

This is a tough question! I'm trying to decide between Hagrid and Hermione. I think it's Hermione. All of the actors in the movie are perfect. Anyone else as anxious to read the fifth book this summer as I am?

As much as I'm in love with Professor Snape, my real true love in the Harry Potter series is Ron Weasley. That boy is just tooooooo cute and way too funny.

DH & I love the books and the movies - I can't wait to read the next book!

I thought all the parts were very well cast - it is so hard to pick a favorite! But I'd have to say Hermione - I love the character and think Emma Watson is perfect!

While I'm sure this new guy will be fine in the role of Dumbledore, I just cannot imagine anyone else playing that role. Richard Harris is soooooo missed, what an amazing actor he was.

I thought it was going to be...Christopher Lee. He was Sarumon in the Lord of the Rings movies.

Harry is my fave. But I also love Ron's twin brothers- they have a great sense of humor.
However when I watch the movie it's always Snape that makes me sit up and watch- he is perfect! Mr. Malfoy is another great one.
I think all the parts in the movie were cast well except Ron's mom. She's not at all what I had in mind.
