I'm assuming so. At first I was thinking that maybe it was Victor Krum's daughter, but that wouldn't be Harry's children's cousin. I was feeling particularly dense until someone on here said it.

Of course, I'm going to give myself the benefit of the doubt because I was running very low on sleep by the time I got to the epilogue!

DD #2 has not yet finished and DD #1 and I are forbidden to discuss the book until she does. I thought it was so sad that Hedwig died and I cried when I read the chapter about Dobby....

Well, just my thoughts because the name is french and means victory..... she just didn't completely clarify that part... LOL

I can't believe no one's mentioned Hedwig! She was the first casualty and I was STUNNED.

I could have done without the epilogue though. Bit too neat for me. Not in keeping with the feel of the books IMHO, YMMV.

Oh my gosh when Fred died.....that's what about sent me over the edge. I love Fred and George, and it was bad enough that George lost an ear, but now he's lost his other half. I wish JKR had gone into more detail about how he coped with that. You don't hear about him after the end.

Honestly, I bet she felt like she had to do the epilogue, it makes it at least slightly harder for someone else to write a book about Harry at least.

Oh, and as sad as it was, and believe me I cried, I knew one of the twins would die. I think it made the biggest impact.

Yeah, I understand her motivation for it as far as character protection. But it was just so...treacly. Actually, I had read the epilogue on one of the spoiler sites last week and swore it was fake just because it was so cheesy.

Liked the rest of the book...just not that.

I loved the book! JKR had me really worried for a bit there--I was bawling too! I am so relieved!

I really liked it. At one point while Iwas reading, I was convinced the horcrux at Hogwarts was Tom's trophy though.

My favorite parts were Ron's return and the exoneration of Snape.

I enjoyed the epilogue. After what they went through, and face it, what we went through as readers...a little treacle isn't such a bad thing. :)

It didn't occur to me that Victoire was Bill and Fleur's daughter, but it makes perfect sense, even for her to be a year or two younger than Teddy. (Tonks did mention she'd left Teddy with her mother when she arrived to join the fight at Hogwarts.) I had hoped Teddy would live Harry, but living with his grandmother does work. I also absolutely loved Harry and Ginny's offspring names.

As a side note, last night while DS and I were walking around aoutside, someone yelled a possible spoiler at me from a moving car. I am absolutely delighted they were mistaken and Ron didn't die!!!

I loved it!!! I cried at so many different parts! When Dobby yelled "Dobby is a FREE elf. OMG. I got chills. So sad that he died. JK is really so amazing!!! Now, I'm gonna take a nap.

I loved it, too! I made DH take DS out of the house for the day, so I could read it uninterrupted. I'm glad I did, I was talking to the different characters like a lunatic. :lmao:

I'm sooo glad that the truth came out about Snape. And poor Hedwig! I wouldn't have predicted that in a million years! My brother took it from me, but I'm looking forward to a second read when he's done.

I don't see how on earth they will be able to explain all that in a movie.

I was so upset when Fred was killed:sad2: I know it's mean but I wish it had been Percy!!!!! SO many deaths , I had to go back and reread some parts because I couldn't believe that not only was Fred killed but Tonks and Lupin!!!How cruel for yet another little boy to grow up without his parents. I think the ending came way to fast and would have liked to have known what happened to George, I was really happy to read about Neville though and very glad that Snape was vindicated. Now I need to go back and re-read the whole thing.

Okay I've not finished the whole book but I did read the epilogue. Can someone point me to the info on Teddy please. I would love to read even a snippit about Lupin and Tonks and their son if there is one.

I loved this book! So many twists and turns ...

I agree the epilogue was a bit cheesy. And I wanted more out of it -- what were all their careers? What about Luna? Dean? Seamus? George? Lucius?

A couple characters I was surprised were missing: Moaning Myrtle and Fawkes. I thought sure Fawkes would come back to Harry, esp after Hagrid died.

The book started slow for me. About 5:30 am (four hours into it) I couldn't handle it and drifted off to sleep, then work around 9:30 and started reading again...in between doing the laundry.
Once it picked up, I forgot about the laundry. I've been crying on and off...Dobby annoyed me to no end in the movie, but I cried when he died. I certainly didn't expect Moody, nor Hedwig. When Harry learned in the Pensieve that he would have to die for Voldemort to die, I started bawling again, and then Fred, and Lupin and Tonks. I knew Lupin was heading for the chopping block (just felt it), and thought Tonks might be too, but didn't expect them to be married with a son.
The epilogue was cheesy. I think going forward a few years instead of nineteen would've made more sense. There was a fake story on the internet several months ago that I read - the epilogue was way better than that one. It didn't even sound like Rowling. It is like she finished the book, and then the editor said, well, you have to let them know what happened. I would've like a little more interaction with the characters right after the battle as well, being with the people who had helped him the last 7 years, and how they honored the fallen.

*aaahhhhh* can always depend on the DIS for finding things I need! All the HP sites I normally visit are on lock-down until Tuesday/Wednesday, and I have no one at home to discuss the book with!

I loved the book, and personally, I was very surprised the one of the trio didn't die, because I thought for sure one would go. I also thought Hagrid was going to die, because of his relationship with Harry, and them being so close.

Hedwig and Mad-Eye I totally didn't see coming. And, I thought Dobby's death was soo, sooo, sooo sad. Waahhh! That whole scene was just terrible.

I did enjoy that Kreacher came around, and that Hermione was right in her S.P.E.W. efforts.

There are still some questions I have, and a few things that JK Rowling said would be answered that weren't, but all in all I'm very pleased with the book.

Sad that it's the last one though!

And, since this is really bugging me, can anyone tell me what the scene is on the cover of the US Edition? Where was that scene in the book? Because it's not the final scene with Harry and LV.

Thanks!

WHEW, that was quite a ride!

I loved when I came across things that I had figured out beforehand (like the tiara in the room of requirement), but on some things, I was SO far off! (I was thinking that Hogwarts itself might be a horcrux, and would have to go the way of Sunnydale!)

I think it's funny that most of the debates about the book have been if Harry would live or die- who knew we were all right, either way?

I liked the epilogue (the name Albus Severus made me cry, I've always been a loyal Snape supporter), but I wish it had told more. I figured Neville would end up as herbology teacher, but it never said what Harry's job is now! I get skipping so far ahead, but I feel like we missed out on so much. Did Harry raise his godson? We needed a chapter a little like Dumbledore's funeral- a chance to say goodbye, in between the end of the war and the distant future.

I'm so proud of Neville, and it looks like his grandma finally is, too.

I really didn't like the death of Lupin & Tonks. Dobby's I understand- it was noble, and Harry's grief for him helped in various ways. Mad Eye's death made it clear from the start that this wasn't going to be an easy fight. But Lupin and Tonks almost seem to have just been tossed in to add to the count of losses. The very thing that Harry got mad at Lupin for- a child having to grow up without their parents- ended up coming about anyway.

I'm so glad we learned more about Dumbledore's family! I cracked up watching OOTP movie last week when they showed a brief shot of Dumbledore's brother and a goat in the Hog's Head, but I found it hilarious that his patronus is a goat, too! That man loves some goats! ;)

I thought the doe patronus was Ginny. I would have never guessed it was Snape.

Oh, Snape! I think he's one of my favorite characters ever. I wish he hadn't died like that. It's interesting that his love protected Harry almost as much as Lily's. And how interesting that his Worst Memory wasn't his worst because of the humiliaton factor, but because it was when he truly lost Lily.

There are still some questions I have, and a few things that JK Rowling said would be answered that weren't, but all in all I'm very pleased with the book.

Ditto! Didn't she say we'd find out what Dudley saw when the Dementors attacked him?

I think the US book cover is supposed to be the final Harry/Voldemort scene.
