I just looked up the actors who played James and Lilly - they were born in 1958 and 1967, respectively. Making the actor who played James 43 when the first movie was made, and the actor who played Lily 34. A tad long in the tooth to be the 20 year old kids they were supposed to be in Harry's photographs.
Then again, Hagrid is supposed to be Tom Riddle's contemporary...I guess they are what, 20 years older than Snape, Sirius, James and Lily. Yet Robbie Coltrane, who plays Hagrid, is actually 4 years younger than Alan Rickman, who plays Snape. And Ralph Fiennes who plays Voldemort is 16 years younger than Rickman!
I guess I just need to chalk it up to things that make you go hmmmmmm............
Hold the phone... Somebody help me with dates. In COS, the chamber was opened for the first time "50 years ago". COS took place in 1993, so the chamber was first opened in 1943. In the "flashbacks" or "memories" from the diary, Dumbledore was already a professor at Hogwarts at that time. Now, when was Dumbledore born and when was he a student at Hogwarts?
Yes I agree some of the dates are wrong i think. I was just reading OotP and in an article it says that lucious is 41. When it quotes him the the daily prophet but somewhere in the lastest book I could have swron that it said that he was a prefect when the marauders went to school. Or maybe im getting something confused. That would be off by a few years no?
James' birthdate (and Lily's) are listed in DH on the gravestones, but I don't have the book here to look.
I don't have the book with me either, but I do remember that both James and Lily were born in 1960, with Lily a few months older than James.
COS was in 1992 (Harry was born in 1980...
Yes. Those are some of the reasons i don't think it's Merope.
When I first read the part about Professor Trelawney in book 7, I didn't notice it, but a few sentences later, it kind of sunk in that I didn't remember ever hearing of her doing magic before. The books never said she didn't do magic, but I don't remember her doing any.
Lucious is supposed to be a couple of years older than the Maruders. I'm thinking Snape, James, Sirius and Peter were (or in James' case, would have been) 30 when the first book came out and 37 when the last book came out, Lucious 32 through 39. So yes, that is a couple of years off. And Dumbledore, well, he'd be about 150 in 1997. Math doesn't seem to apply in the wizarding world.![]()
