This thread is for anyone who has FINISHED reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I need to talk about what happened, and I know that I'm not the only crazy person who pulled an all-nighter to finish it. So to all of you who know the whole story:

HOLY FREAKING CRAP!!!!!!

Ok, now we can begin discussing it.;)

Did Harry Potter die?

I'll never read the book, but that was honestly one of the first things I thought of this morning. :confused3

Personally I loved the book.:) JKRowling had definitely had a very rich and varied storyline in mind from the start, didn't she?;) But, like I told my sister it was just amazing to me is just how many fans on so many sites were such great guessers. lol Other than the deathly hallows themselves, I've seen so many of the ideas propounded on the fan sites, mentioned or explained in this last book.

I was teasing with my sister about the last 'test' Rowling gave on her website. I have all the seven books now. I do not have the other two books she wrote for charity, concerning hogwarts stuff and the non human creatures of her magical world. But, by just having read her books (many times):), I've gotten so familiar with her and how her magical world work, that I got the second highest type of score (Exceeds Expectations), and didn't even have those two books.lol

I think many fans are going to be both pleased and very unpleased just like she said. lol

I'm glad that Snape was vindicated in the end. I especially loved that Harry made a point of telling his son that if he ended up in Slytherin it would be fine.

i don't know if i liked it. i'll have to go back and read it again, but it just felt odd to me. especially the end.

It was written quite well! :)

I'm glad that I found somewhere I can discuss it. None of my friends or family are finished yet!

I know it was a war, but I felt so overwhelmed by all the deaths. I am a HUGE Lupin fan. How terrible for Tonks and Lupin to die!

I'm glad that Snape is a hero, just wished that he would have received some recognition or thanks while he was alive.

Hogwarts is so key to the story. It wasn't until they returned to Hogsmeade and Hogwarts that I felt I was "into" the story. How I wished they could have attended their final year, before having to face Voldy. We will never know what a 7th year experiences!

I passed the book to my husband, then it goes on to my children. I can't wait to read it again. The books always seem better to me at second reading.

I was quite mad that Tonks came and joined the fight. I know it was what she does and it would have been hard for her to stay away but....she just had a baby! My feelings are that she should have thought of him and stayed with him!

So now we have another little boy brought up without his parents. Who do you think raised him?? I'm guessing Tonks mother.

I look at it from the point of view of that she WAS thinking of him. Like Remus said, what kind of life would it be for Teddy, being the son of a werewolf and both his parents being members of the Order? They both came to Hogwarts knowing that they were fighting for their son's life, as well as the rest of the wizarding world.

He lives.

He goes on to marry Ginny Weasley and have 3 kids of their own. Ron and Hermoine marry and have two children. Even Draco has a son.

The final scene is at King's Cross. The next generation leaving on the Hogwart's Express. Very touching. :sad1:

I loved the book too!!

My DH thought I was crazy doing an all nighter ... but I it was soo worth it!
Bonus is I don't have to watch out for the spoilers now.

I have to go back & reread the book, cuz I think I have more questions...

Two. And I can see right now the final one won't ever be able to do justice to the book. lol Just way too much ;) happening!

I couldn't believe how suspenseful the last few chapters were. I kept crying, and then something would happen and I'd gasp and turn the page. I was almost bawling when I thought Harry was dead and then Dumbledore goes "not" and I about fell off the bed. What an amazing finish, let's hope they can do a good job recreating it in the movie.

I was wondering that too...Just what I need, more questions unanswered :rotfl:
Did they make it official that Harry was Teds godfather? The make it seem like he is like a son to him.

I'll admit, I was crying so hard through the last few chapters that I could barely see the words on the pages. I had to re-read stuff a few times. And I BAWLED when I read the part where Fred Weasley died, and become even MORE upset when Tonks and Lupin died. It was so heartbreaking, Lupin was one of my favorite characters. Unfortunately, I had a feeling he wouldn't make it through. But I didn't think he would marry Tonks and that they'd have a baby only for BOTH of them to die in the end. But even though it broke my heart I can see why JKR killed them. I just can't imagine what it was like for George though, knowing his twin was gone :(

But overall, it was the strongest and most emotional book of the series. How could it not? I was extremely pleased with the ending and am so glad JKR gave us an epilogue that showed us what happened to our favorite trio. Everything turned out for the best and at the end of the day, good triumphed over evil just like I knew it would. Best of all, the boy who lived and suffered finally got his happy ending. Can't ask for much more than that :)

I would imagine so. The book says he eats supper with the Potters at least four nights a week and Lily wishes he would marry Victoire so that he would really be a member of the family.

I was just questioning it because knowing Harry & Ginny, even if Ted wasn't his godson, he would always be welcome in Harrys home & treated like a son...the way Siruis was to the Potters & the way Harry was to the Weasleys.
