Hi All- Considering a trip out to San Diego, and then to Vegas- Has anyone been to Harrah's Rincon Casino/hotel? Located in San Diego. Tell me anything you know about this place, is it worth the trip, how many days there, what's to do in the area? Anything!! Thanks!!

I'm not sure if I would go to the Rincon if I was going to Vegas. It's like going to Disneyworld and then to a small county fair.

It's fairly remote. About 15-30 minutes away are the San Diego Safari Park, formerly caller the Wild Animal Park, and also come vineyards. I'm not sure of any specific vineyard you can tour but there are some.

Also going into SD to see the bay, might also be nice.

Skiingfast- Realize that nothing compares to Vegas, but as a stand alone casino, what is in the area? Is there shopping relatively close? How is the pool/spa? resturants? Tell me anything about the actual hotel & area, is there enough to do to keep someone busy for a couple of days? We will have a car, but worried about driving in California, they are notorious for the HUGE highways....

I have been in there, but it was brand new and this was years ago, maybe 03 but I can't remember. So never as a guests and it was more or less to walk in and peek then walk out. I knew of its construction and wanted to see the final product.

It's a big place so it has lots of stuff in the hotel. I remember a few restaurants, the pool didn't look too bad. The pool is on the south side of the hotel so it probably doesn't have much shade and it can be very hot if it's summer. It has a large convention space so it may be busy or quiet.

The San Diego Safari Park is really great and I highly suggest you visit it. It doesn't compare to any zoos it's really the inspiration for Disney's Animal Kingdom. It's a simple drive on back roads that barely touch the corner of a small city to get there. It probably a right and 3 lefts mostly at T intersections.

You can also drive into the mountains and just look at the scenery.

Spend a day at the safari park and a day at the hotel and driving around and you should be fine without venturing anywhere that could be difficult.
