Anyone done this with their kids. How long does a kid's haircut take. I like the idea, but don't want to take too much time out of rides, etc.?

Same amount of time for actual haircut but if u have to wait ur turn it could be lengthy

One important thing to remember at the MK Barber Shop. When they removed the old antique cash register and put in a terminal to allow use of credit cards and hotel charges and the like they hooked into The Emporium's network. The register, unlike ones in table service restaurants, cannot handle tips as part of the transaction.

So if you are planning on using the Harmony Barber Shop please be aware that if you are using any sort of card you cannot add a tip on the card and should have cash available for tipping.

In Oct my nieces ot glitter in her hair. Don't know whether colored gel was offered, but my nephew didn't get it.

Both of our boys got their first haircuts at Harmony Barbershop. It was great! We've always made appointments in advance. With my oldest, we were the only ones in there. It took only about 15-20 minutes or so, start to finish. With my younger son, it was a busy day. We waited about 15 minutes for him to be seated in the chair and the cut again took about 15 minutes or so.

We are rope droppers and we like to take breaks from the parks in the middle of the day. We like to make the appointments for lunchtime. We go to our appointment, then leave from there to have lunch back at the resort. So it doesn't really slow us down from touring since we already are leaving the park anyway.

Both of my kids also had their first haircuts at the Barbor Shop! That was in the early 2000s but still... Wonderful memories...

Thank you. I have a 9am reservation in early January for my son who also had his first haircut there a few years ago. :) That year we were able to enter the park early, not sure we can do it again but we will try!

For me, it doesn't seem they don't do anything special as far as getting a haircut. They do do glitter for girls. I thought it was expensive for what it was and no real special service. Not interested in doing it again. The woman who did my sons hair never said a word during the cut. I don't see how it is more fun because you are at a park and then have hair clipping on you in the sun all day. Blah. Not for me.

im looking into the my first haircut package but was wondering if anyone knew how far in advance you can make reservations

180 just like dining. I called at 180 for my sons 1st hair cut on his 1st birthday. I'm hoping he had enough hair by then :)

thank you! and good luck with the amount of hair. i think i want to do it with my daughter in december. she will be 15.5 months. so she better have enough hair by then lol:rotfl:

We went in Nov for DDs first haircut. It was definitely more ceremonial than anything else. She had just turned 3 and barely had any hair (super fine white-blonde hair). The whole "cut" took maybe 8 minutes? The older gentleman who cut her hair was really nice and talked to her. She got loads of sitckers, Mickey ears, a certificate and a little bag with her hair clippings. I reserved around 130 days amd got a 2pm appt. They were really busy and we ended up waiting about 20 minutes. The walk-up wait was over 2 hours.

It was cute and she loves that she got her 1st haircut in Disney World, but we won't go back for a regular cut.

I agree. Never understood the appeal of getting your hair cut at a theme park.

We want to do it mostly for the certificate that he will get saying 1st haircut. It's good for the scrapbook. Being that he's one, it's not like we will be commandoing the park anyway so 8-30 minutes of sitting inside will be ok for us.

Just FYI:

Harmony Barber Shop- closed 2/2/2015- 3/30/2015

aw man, really?? my BF is going to be so bummed. But this means I'll need to make sure he gets a haircut before our trip, last time he specifically avoided getting a haircut beforehand so he could get it done there.

I used to get my haircut there, but that was a long long time ago. It used to be so laid back and relaxing. No lines (ever) and barbers who had semi retired there out of Disney show biz industry.
