we've done this twice, both times with reservations. We typically waited about 10-15 mins with ressies.
TBH, I don't think we'll do it again. The first trip, my DS, my DD, and myself had a haircut. DS' cut was fine. DD's was pretty bad (I'm still trying to grow it out a good 6 months later). I asked for a simple to care for haircut and I got a choppy mess. My cut was OK. Michel did it and I was excited because everyone recommends him. It was OK....not bad, but didn't wow me either. It was fine though and I have no real complaints on my end.
Our 2nd visit I was going to do pixie dust and gel for myself and DD and get DS and DH a haircut. They did an OK job on DH....and DS got Michel...who did an awful job. My DS is 8 and sits quietly....he somehow managed to mess the whole front up and it's not even. He couldn't even cut straight! Overall, I was disappointed in the cut. I would have gone back for a recut - but we ran out of time and I just hid it under his Mickey hat as best as I could.
I didn't end up doing the pixie dust or colored gel for any of us. Decided to spend $20 each for Mickey hats for the kids instead....figured I'd get more bang out of my buck that way!
I was still happy with the barbershop after our last trip and looked forward to returning. I would recommend it for first haircuts though - how cute. I would compare this to the kind of $10 cuts we have gotten from discount haircut places (to give you comparison). I typically go to higher end places ($50 haircut) or else $15 for the kids (at a higher end kids salon) so that's my comparison. Of course, I usually cut DS' hair myself for $0. Sure I butcher it on occassion...but you get what you pay for LOL!!
Now after our second ho-hum/somewhat bad experiences....I'll stick to our own barbers and spend my money on other magical things. Mickey bars anyone?
