Hardwood Floors ~ What do you use to mop?

i use the swiffer wet clothes- the viniger and water pads....no dull finish, no streaks.....simple, toss em in the trash when your done.

I don't like my hardwood shiny either. It shows too many imperfections that way...like little doggie foot prints. :teeth:

Got a floormate for Christmas. Allergic to the lysol cleaner.....Contacted company, they said to use water...Anyone ever tried any other cleaning product? :badpc:

I've been thinking about buying the Hoover Floormate 800, the one with the attachments to clean in hard to reach places. Does anyone have this one? Is it worth the money?

I just tried the Orange Glo mop and cleaner. This worked really well. They also have a refinisher that you use 4x a year to bring back a little shine to the floors. Our floors have a satin finish, so I don't want anything high gloss---this worked great!

I got some Pledge Orange cleaner for hardwood floors. I use a rag on my hands and knees, which is a chore because our entire main floor is hardwood. I don't do it that often, but sweep on a regular basis. The Pledge cleaner works great. You just put a little on a rag and wipe. Easy!

I have wood flooring in my dining room...wax finish. I will use water and Murphys oil soap once in a while but I dry it immediately. I just use my duster and sweep as much as possible. We don't use the room a lot so it's not 2 bad. 2 times I year I use the Bruce floor cleaner and rewax after. (Also on hands and knees) I would love to get rid of the floor and carpet it. My DH likes it though. (and yes he does clean it too)

I have oak floors that are over 80 years old. I mop weekly with **** 'n Span diluted in water and have no problems. Floors have a "satiny" looking finish. I have 3500 square feet of wood flooring....definitely NOT getting down on my hands and knees to clean or dry them. Haven't noticed streaks but that may be because my floors don't have a high shine.

Gee, can't BELIEVE the name of my floor cleaner got "edited" out!

We have waxed hardwood floors. I use rags with Murphys oil soap and dry them right away. Then twice a year I'm on my hands and knees rewaxing them. We have hardwood floors all through the house and I can get them washed and waxed in about 4 hours.

That's because it is a not so nice slang word for Hispanics.

Oh good grief! I never would have even thought of that. Nor would I care to do so. Not slamming you at all, golfgal, mind you, but I think we have become such a wussie society being overly political correct that people can barely say anything (or name their products) anymore. As far as I am concerned, I have used **** and Span and will continue to call it so. :earboy2:

my mom uses Bruce Hardwood floor cleaner both to clean, wax and remove spots. My floors have a polyurethane finish so I use and barely damp mop with vinegar. If they get really dirty-winter salt and grime-I put just a splash of Mr. Clean in my water then remop with just water. Streaks? Hmmmm, never cared as they don't stay for long.

I have 1000 sq.ft. of hardwood floor with a poly finish. Our installer told me to take 1/4 cup of glass-plus (or other NON-Ammonia glass cleaner) and dilute it in a gallon of water and I use a roller type sponge mop. For spills or spot cleaning I use the glass-plus full strength and wipe up with a paper towel. It's been 6 years and the floors look great!!!
