Which resort is the hardest to book in December?

When in December are you going? I've heard that Wilderness Lodge Villas are popular because of their holiday decorations.

BW is hardest to book... especially the standard views... Actually, overall, ALL the resorts are typically sold out by or at the 7 month window.... This early December timeframe is the busiest time all year to book it seems

depends - okay I say that alot - but it does - if you are going for the Christmas decoration and easy access to MVMCP - VWL, if you are going for easy access to Candlight procession then BWV and now BCV.

if you are planning on staying along time - then OKW - but OKW is the biggest and has the highest number of members who go other places - so on the last minute you could probably get it - but don't ever count of getting anything at WDW in DVC resort in December. Unless you book as early as possible.

I need more room when I stay for a while and OKW has the biggest rooms - especially there 1-bedroom and up - alot more room - you don't feel like you are staying in a hotel(resort) but a home.

Spiceycat, are you saying that BCV is hard to book at the 7 month window for going any time in December? I hope so, because I just talked DH into buying more points at BCV so that I could get the 11 month window there for December. If you're saying that I might need the 11 month window to book then, that might help reinforce that he made the right decision (I'm not sure he's convinced it was necessary).

the first two weeks of December when the points are low - yes - all DVC resorts will be hard - but I would think that both BWV and BCV would be very hard because of all the shows at Epcot and MGM in December.

and besides it is so much nicer to either walk / boat back to your room than to have to walk all the way to Epcot parking lot and then bus or drive back.

Next year we are going on a Disney Cruise from Dec. 19-23. We want to stay at a DVC resort on the 23rd so we can go to MK.

We had 'hoped' that we could get into VWL, but it sounds like I better make reservations at our home resort BCVs and then see if we can switch later. I would hate not having a place to stay that night. We are heading home the next day, but we wanted to see the decorations at MK before we left Florida.

Is there a difference in how hard it is to get certain units? Like are studios harder than 2 bedrooms at this time?

Is DVC oversold? I know point costs are low in December, but they're pretty low most times of the year relative to the few holidays.

If I buy in am I going to have to make reservations 11 months out to get a place to stay? I'm not picky, but I want to be able to get a place to stay if I'm investing in the system.

I visited last January, the previous February, and in November before that, and weekdays were pretty quiet at the parks and the resorts. What gives?

During those time periods you shouldn't have too much trouble getting a room. November is a bit busy because of the Food and Wine Festival, so I wouldn't wait too long to get reservations during that time period. There are certain time periods that it is wise to use the 11 month window, during any major holiday, the first part of December, and the Spring Break time period. I will say that if you wait until a couple months out for any time period you will probably find very little if anything available. If you are one that tends to wait till the last minute to make reservations then DVC is probably not for you. But if you usually plan in advance then DVC works well and you will usually find what you want.

DVC is not oversold but you are competing with all other members at your home resort at the 11 month window and ALL DVC members for non home resort reservations at the 7 month window. It is becoming increasing important to make reservation early. I would recommend against anyone buying that can't plan at least 7 months ahead most of the time and it is preferable to plan 11 months out. The worst example is HH which is a very seasonal area, WDW is somewhat less of an issue but the principles still hold.
