We are going to Disney in December for 10 days. I wanted to break up our stay for 2 nights at Universal. We are staying 7 nights at WL and I wanted to choose between Hard Rock or Royal Pacific for 2 nights. I wanted to get opinions on which hotel people prefer. It will be myself, DH, DD-10 yrs, DS-5 yrs.

Thanks so much! :cheer2: :rotfl:

Hi scriv2,

You might want to try posting over on the Universal hotels message board on the DIS site too - you'll be sure to get lots of replies there since it's specific to Universal. There's also a comparison thread there for people that have stayed at all three on-site Universal hotels.

We stayed at the Royal Pacific in March of this year with our 8 and 10 year old daughters and everyone really enjoyed it, but I've heard lots of good things about the Hard Rock too.

Good luck with your research!

Hard Rock- the rooms are a little bigger. We found RPR to be very nice but a little cramped.

I like Hard Rock for families, Royal Pacific for couples. That said, they're both fabulous resorts. You won't go wrong with either.

Bumping you over to Universal board........!

We just returned from a stay at the Hard Rock.

Our family enjoyed it very much.

The only thing we were disappointed with, was our room location. But other than that, the stay was great.

We just returned from a split Disney/Universal vacation and stayed at Royal Pacific. As I haven't stayed at Hard Rock, I can't compare. Our 13 and 16 year old girls loved Royal Pacific. We had read about the rooms being small. We didn't find them to be that bad...had a nice little area for storing luggage and vanity area outside of the bathroom. If not a Loew's First Member...might want to join. It's free via the Loews website. We bypassed a very long check-in line by going to the Loews First counter and we were given the requested late checkout. It was a short walk to Islands of Adventure...to get to UNiversal Syudios, you had to walk through CityWalk..still not long. Boat and bus shuttles are also available for both. Hard Rock is closer to the Studios. Royal Pacific is closer to IOA if that makes a difference.

I have stayed at both the RP & the Hard Rock and enjoyed both of them very much.

I would stay either place again, you can't go wrong,

I have some pics of them on my website if you are interested.

I say toss a coin :)

Our family prefers the PBH however, we have stayed at the Hard Rock too. I have never stayed at the Royal Pacific but, did go and look it over. I would recommend the Hard Rock. It's smaller (in number of rooms) and it's a very short walk to the parks. The pool is great. Overall, I think it's a nicer hotel.

Thought the HRH was great (except for on-site dining choices). If you're "splitting up" your WDW vacation, be prepared for a shock to your system when you return to DIS and loose the FOTL privledges ;) You do get spoiled by the perc.
