Here's a link to a website I discovered and started using in 2014 to determine where various room types and specific rooms were located in the Hard Rock Hotel and Royal Pacific Hotel.
The site is called room77 and has hotel floor plans and individual room information listed for some hotels (but not for Disney I've found!).
And some general info based on my experience with this website: it's a strange website and doesn't have any real help features etc.; and sometimes you will be able to locate a hotel but get the "No floor plan available" message or "www.room77.com says: Sorry we are having technical difficulties and are unable to retrieve the floor plans for this hotel" message. But when it works I find it very helpful!
Hard Rock Hotel (link works 99% of the time)
https://www.room77.com/floor_plan_standalone.html?hid=189758&pid=s3hf31&id=P2tj3M
Royal Pacific Hotel (link works 99% of the time)
https://www.room77.com/floor_plan_standalone.html?hid=199873&pid=s3hf31&id=P2tj3M
Portofino Bay (https://www.room77.com/floor_plan_standalone.html?hid=01097515)? I can't get this link to work but maybe someone else can!
After you click on a link and it opens:
1. Note the CATEGORY pull-down at top left of the map. Select your room type i.e. Garden View 2 Queen; Deluxe King Room; Kids Suite; Hard Rock Club rooms etc. (varies from hotel to hotel).
2. There is also a Floor pull-down and sometimes other optional pull-downs and buttons on the top and right side such as Tower for the Royal Pacific Hotel.
3. On the left side of the map there is also a “View from Room” listing which I don't find helpful at all.
4. Click on any room in the list (or on the map itself) to see the bed configuration, distance from the elevator, whether the room is considered to be “Oversized” and whether the room is “Connected” or not etc. Be cautious here and do not rely solely on the accuracy or completeness of this information.
5. The hotel maps can be outdated but still helpful to see stairwells, parking areas, pathways and general location of nearby places. I've also found the total number of rooms in a specific Room Type (e.g. Deluxe King) to be in agreement with Universal's total numbers. But I also think some of the individual room shapes drawn on the maps are approximate rather than truly blueprint accurate.
Play around a little with the different pull-downs and hopefully you can check-in with a better idea of what room location you would like. Or at least you can determine if the Room Type you want is even found on a particular floor.
And of course, comments, additions and corrections are encouraged.
P.S. I have attached the steps to locate a hotel and its' floor plans from the room77 main page so that you can try to find other hotels on your own.
