Happy Mickey-versary for 15 yrs! An Oct. 2011 PTR NEW: 11/13 Pretend Disney? & TRlink

Thanks for sharing this article, Julie! I really enjoyed the first paragraph as it put me in Nathan's shoes for just a moment of time. And I know it will also help me remember for my kids, too. Although they are not special-needs, I can easily see better now how all the noise and people and smells and everything can start to crowd in.

Personally, I get "buzzed" by all of that -- so I forget it can be a negative to others.

I copied some of the sentences that I really enjoyed:

Julie is an accomplished “scrapper” and she uses her talents to create personalized Walt Disney World guidebooks for Nathan.

Go Julie!!!

Sometimes I get mad, but sometimes I find out the other thing [that I didn’t want to do] is actually fun…so I need to be patient and wait before I throw I fit.

Wow -- what maturity!! I know you are feeling so proud of Nathan as he is growing up and learning how to handle things.

But if you are upset…don’t play on the DSI…because you will fail [a game] and that will make you more upset

This one just made me LOL!:goodvibes

Most of you know (from my previous PTR/TRs and intro's of the "mousekids") that two of our children live each day on the Autism Spectrum.

April is Autism Awarness Month and just this past Saturday (the 2nd) was World Awareness Day for Autism. We lit it up blue w/ some special signs in our front windows and we all dressed in BLUE for the day!

thanks

Julie

I'm going to have my son read it later. I've read it all so far except the interview. DS doesn't have the ADHD, that part is replaced by an anxiety disorder. They didn't call it OCD, just said anxiety. :confused3

World Diabetes Day also uses blue. It's November 14. Guess there are just so many colors. :)

Hi Julie! Your kids look great all dressed up in BLUE! :thumbsup2

thanks Missy :goodvibes

thanks Marsha  and big thanks to Kathy to capturing what nathan goes through into words...he is growing and becoming so much more aware of himself and what is easy/difficult...yes his DSI tidbit is a good one ;)

I hope your son can enjoy it and have some ideas of his own for his trip :thumbsup2

Do I need back-ups? :confused3

So it's 7 days till I make my ADR's next Monday morning and I was wondering if any of you think I need back-up's in case my first choices are unavailable...

I don't really have alternate day choices since our trip is only 5 days and pretty well packed...too crazy trying to rearrange to just fit in a meal...

this is what we are doing as a reminder:

Narccoossee's
Special Anniversary meal

Day 2) Mon 17th evening target time: 6:45/7 pm

Hollywood Brown Derby
Matt's pick

Day 3) Tues 18th afternoon target time: 12:00 pm

Wave
sleep in morning breakfast

Day 4) Wed 19th morning target time: 9:45/10 am

The main one I feel I would need a back-up plan for is the anniversary dinner...as it is the anniversary meal. We'll be at EP for the day then plan to go back to resort (BLT) for a quick break, freshen up , change...not super nice, but not typical park touring clothes.

If I choose a back up...it really would be need to be w/in the general area of BLT I don't want to trek across the parks to something. so I guess something in CR, Poly, GF or maybe even WL

I always thought I'd want to eat at Cali grill....but I can get the view from my resort and actually not sure the menu is our thing...

WWYD???

Matt says don't worry about it....he's probably right...but I'm the over planner

TIA

Julie

Hmmmm, I might have another night just in case, that you can pick for your Anniversary dinner if they don't have it, but it is a Monday night in October, I think you should be fine! We're offsite and I had to get up every morning for a week on my 180 for each ADR and I got absolutely everything I wanted and exact times! I think you should be good, I bet you'll get them all right when you want! :thumbsup2

I really don't think you'll need back up choices. As long as you're semi-flexible with your times (like within an hour) you should be fine. I booked both of my ADRs yesterday and although they are both 15 minutes earlier than my target times, they are both still in the general time frame.

I'm sure you'll be fine without any back ups as far as availability. My only concern would be needing a backup for the anniversary dinner on another night. Like if something happens & you don't get to your originally planned ADR. Make another one for later in the week at the same restaurant and cancel it if all works out as planned on your first ADR night.

I agree that you won't need a back up Julie, but if you still want a back up, I was looking at the WL dining places, and there is a signature place "Artist Point" that I have been looking at there

Thanks for the feedback all...

Yep I'm not overly concerned about the whole thing...I mean if I got CRT on a Sat before T-giving....it should work out...it's just well you never know feeling...

If I felt we had a "back-up" night I'd do that Karen/Amy...but there really isn't one w/ only 4 nights  I'd think only an injury or illness would ruin plans to keep us from getting there on Mon. But I will keep it in the back of my mind that morning of booking...

I am flexible w/ times it's just the two of us...I'd think a ressie for 2 shouldn't be so hard to get right

and oh the Artist Point...that does sound nice, I know Kathy was thinking of dining there once for her and Ed...

so thanks again and we'll see what happens next Monday :cool1:

Great post about Autism Awareness Day and wonderful article about Nathan! :goodvibes We have an autistic student in the 8th grade named Isaiah -- I don't teach him, but he is in math across the hall when I am on planning. Oftentimes it gets so loud in his class that his teacher sends him to my room to work where it is quiet, and he can focus. Such a neat kid!

As for ADRs, I don't think you will need back-ups -- I have never had any problems getting anything I wanted even in the middle of summer. However, it doesn't hurt to have back-ups just in case, and it will probably make you feel better knowing you have them. :goodvibes

thanks Jackie :goodvibes...yes I have a couple thoughts in the back of my head in case something doesn't work out on Monday morning :thumbsup2

Hi ya Julie!

I'm back from my trip and have dug out of the work hole that was left for me. Now I need to dig into the PTR and TR's. I will comment further when I catch up!

i agree, don't think you will need a backup plan- hopefully you will get exactly what you want! :thumbsup2

That's certainly the understatement of the year!! :rotfl:

(Love ya, mean it!)

I can't imagine that you'd need a backup, Jules, especially if you're flexible with your times... but knowing you, it would be good to have your backup ready. It will help reduce your ADR stress!! :thumbsup2
