Hi Julie! Your kids look great all dressed up in BLUE!

Most of you know (from my previous PTR/TRs and intro's of the "mousekids") that two of our children live each day on the Autism Spectrum.
April is Autism Awarness Month and just this past Saturday (the 2nd) was World Awareness Day for Autism. We lit it up blue w/ some special signs in our front windows and we all dressed in BLUE for the day!
thanks
Julie
Hi Julie! Your kids look great all dressed up in BLUE!![]()
Thanks for sharing this article, Julie! I really enjoyed the first paragraph as it put me in Nathan's shoes for just a moment of time. And I know it will also help me remember for my kids, too. Although they are not special-needs, I can easily see better now how all the noise and people and smells and everything can start to crowd in.
Personally, I get "buzzed" by all of that -- so I forget it can be a negative to others.
I copied some of the sentences that I really enjoyed:
Julie is an accomplished scrapper and she uses her talents to create personalized Walt Disney World guidebooks for Nathan.
Go Julie!!!
Sometimes I get mad, but sometimes I find out the other thing [that I didnt want to do] is actually fun so I need to be patient and wait before I throw I fit.
Wow -- what maturity!! I know you are feeling so proud of Nathan as he is growing up and learning how to handle things.
But if you are upset dont play on the DSI because you will fail [a game] and that will make you more upset
This one just made me LOL!![]()
I'm going to have my son read it later. I've read it all so far except the interview. DS doesn't have the ADHD, that part is replaced by an anxiety disorder. They didn't call it OCD, just said anxiety.
I hope your son can enjoy it and have some ideas of his own for his trip
World Diabetes Day also uses blue. It's November 14. Guess there are just so many colors.![]()
Hmmmm, I might have another night just in case, that you can pick for your Anniversary dinner if they don't have it, but it is a Monday night in October, I think you should be fine! We're offsite and I had to get up every morning for a week on my 180 for each ADR and I got absolutely everything I wanted and exact times! I think you should be good, I bet you'll get them all right when you want!![]()
I really don't think you'll need back up choices. As long as you're semi-flexible with your times (like within an hour) you should be fine. I booked both of my ADRs yesterday and although they are both 15 minutes earlier than my target times, they are both still in the general time frame.
I'm sure you'll be fine without any back ups as far as availability. My only concern would be needing a backup for the anniversary dinner on another night. Like if something happens & you don't get to your originally planned ADR. Make another one for later in the week at the same restaurant and cancel it if all works out as planned on your first ADR night.
I agree that you won't need a back up Julie, but if you still want a back up, I was looking at the WL dining places, and there is a signature place "Artist Point" that I have been looking at there
Great post about Autism Awareness Day and wonderful article about Nathan! We have an autistic student in the 8th grade named Isaiah -- I don't teach him, but he is in math across the hall when I am on planning. Oftentimes it gets so loud in his class that his teacher sends him to my room to work where it is quiet, and he can focus. Such a neat kid!
As for ADRs, I don't think you will need back-ups -- I have never had any problems getting anything I wanted even in the middle of summer. However, it doesn't hurt to have back-ups just in case, and it will probably make you feel better knowing you have them.![]()
Hi ya Julie!
I'm back from my trip and have dug out of the work hole that was left for me. Now I need to dig into the PTR and TR's. I will comment further when I catch up!
Good luck tomorrow morning!!![]()
I almost freaked out...and thought I had forgotten to wake up early and make the ADR's...![]()
but I make them tomorrow the 19th not today.....
Matt says don't worry about it....he's probably right...but I'm the over planner
