Happy Mickey-versary for 15 yrs! An Oct. 2011 PTR NEW: 11/13 Pretend Disney? & TRlink

Touring with just the two of you will make a big difference. A late arrival should be fine!

I'd lean toward FOTLK as well...one of my favorites! :thumbsup2

As far as romantic....the beautiful grounds of AK make it a perfect place to cuddle on a bench and watch all the busy people go by!

Hi Julie!

I think that Animal Kingdom is a romantic park in general... so exotic... so "Me Tarzan, You Jane!" A nice park to take it slow!

Kathy

Hmmm... romantic... I think strolling around the tree of life admiring those wonderful details could be romantic. What about that picnic in the park lunch they offer? I know you might not be eating there though...

I vote for FOTLK! I haven't seen Nemo in a long time but I just love me some Lion King!!

Just caught up reading all of your plans. Sounds like ya'll are going to have a wonderful trip! I agree with the walk around the Tree of Life for the romance factor!

Hello Julie!

I can't imagine how busy you must be, but you always seem to find time to give us an update!

um the kids haven't been fed and the there's no clean clothes :rotfl:

I would think you and Matt will be fine getting to AK late due to this being an "off-season" time. Also you should be able to cover more ground than you think you can due to the no 6-8 people thing.

that is what I am hoping

Maybe it will give you time to stop and take in the atmosphere of a few places, like seeing some of the animals around the Oasis (and keeping your peepers open for DeVine :magnify:) and Discovery Island.

I'd love to soak this park in a bit more...I love seeing pictures in other people's TR of the little things I haven't seen before or noticed...I want this AK "day" to be more of discovery than ride-ride-ride...

One thing I would suggest, try to get a few PP stops in if you can. DH and I did this in April, and I'm so glad we did. We captured our best PP pics here. There's usually one right by the far side of EE on the bridge leading into DinoLand. Also, on the other side of EE, there's that shrine where people always get pics because you can get the train in the background if you time it right, you could get one or two there. I'm sure you know this already, but just wanted to make mention of it.:goodvibes

no I love the PP pix...I want to try and get one in front and back of the tree...:thumbsup2

I've never seen Mickey's Jammin' Jungle parade all the way through. Where is your favorite spot to view it?

the one cool thing about this parade is it just circles the Oasis...so I don't think you can go wrong...we usually like to watch it in Africa or just before the Africa "entrance"...you'll be at the end of the route and can just follow it out of the park.

Also, if you do find out about feeding times, I'd be interested in knowing. Madelyn already LOVES the zoo and all the animals, so I know she will love the treks as much as her momma does and active animals=happy baby.

Oh I will...have no idea if there is info on that stuff...but I'll see if I can find out :thumbsup2

Okay lady, we are now officially under the five month mark!!!:yay:

You scared me w/ this revelation  wow I really had no idea we were under 5 months...it's going to start flying once summer starts...plus my family trip is under 8 months too :woohoo: I have started designing some things for Oct...share real soon :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 I'm leaning on the factor alot here...

I agree...it's my fav show at the parks..I alwsy sing along and find myself teary-eyed

Kathy

 you crack me up Kathy...do you remember the old Tarzan show? we saw it back in '05

the picnic thing is a good idea...but yeah I don't even know if we'd eat a full lunch...but hopefully we could find a secluded bench like Missy suggested and some tasty snack/dessert and just relax :goodvibes

I vote for FOTLK! I haven't seen Nemo in a long time but I just love me some Lion King!!

that is probably what I'd lean toward

:welcome: Jill...you arr awesome to have read up on everything...I truly hope we do have a great trip and some much needed alone time at our Happy place

Looks like great plans!

Only things I can think of to suggest would be for you to ride the singles line for EE / if you don't ride Dinosaur with Matt then really check out the gift shop in Dinoland....read Jack Spencer's blog piece about it before you go (very cool when you know the back story) / and grab FP for KS as soon as you can and maybe watch the parade from that area so you can do KS before or after the parade.

awesome thanks Heidi...now that I have your seal of approval...I feel good ;)

and good tips...thanks, I think I read the blog post before...did you share it once and I remember your pixs too:thumbsup2

I agree that you should be OK with a late arrival at AK, you'll be surprised on how much easier it is going to be to tour with just the two of you.

My vote is for FOTLK too, it is my absolute favorite show in all of WDW, always brings a tear to my eye. :thumbsup2

I think there are some tables at FTBBQ that are secluded down by the water, might be a nice spot to grab a snack and get some quiet alone time.

I don't think there will be any issues with you getting there late since there are just two of you and it doesn't sound like you are really doing anything there would be a horrible line for. Sounds like a nice relaxing day, and those are hard to find at WDW! ;) I think I would have to run to the single rider line for a ride on EE if I were there, he could go do Dinosaur, you would only be separated mere minutes! ;)

that is what I think too...just have to resisit the urge of go-go-go ;) and yes it would be only minutes :rolleyes1 Um I need to uese the bathroom in Aisa....

I think the late start in AK will be fine with your to do list, and I imagine that you'll even get some of the extra stuff done too. I'm loving your list of to do's, just take it slow and walk the trail and around the tree. So fun, I LOVE it.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Sounds like a great couple time in AK:cloud9:

On Sunday my DD Bekah wanted me to take her shopping for some summer/camp clothes. She had recieved a gift card to one store that required a mall run, which normally I detest...but oh well at least there was one of these there:

100_0042-1.jpg

After she got a few things at the clothing store, we went into The Disney Store :cool1: and looked around a bit. They had shirts on sale for 2 for 24 and I bought one for her and me. :thumbsup2 plus I got another "green" Disney bag...seriously like I need another Disney bag like I need a hole in my head ;)...

here is a pix of the shirt I got B:

100_0062.jpg

The funny thing is I had already had a day planned for yesterday w/ my Mom to go out to eat and a different mall for a belated Mother's Day gift. So I got to go to the Disney Store Twice...:cool1: Now the Disney store isn't the grandest of places...but where ever I can get my Disney fix I'll take and I needed one desperately!

so after a Starbucks breakfast on Monday (hey she loves Starbucks) we first chatted w/ some lovely CM's at a Doorway to Dreams kiosk about Disney, DVC, and pin trading...apparently they'll trade w/ you at the mall...very cool. Nathan would love that :goodvibes. We went to their Disney store. Now I had my youngest DD Naomi-Ruth w/ so she was in heaven having a day at the MALL w/ Grandma and Mommy :cloud9:

I'm not sure she had ever been to a Disney Store and last week when my Mom told her where we were going...she said "I had better pack my bags" :lmao:

Enjoying the store:

100_0038.jpg

She picked out an Ariel wedding dress gown and some cool Ariel flip-flops too. Here she is modling it at home:

100_0046-1.jpg

But still in the store as we were looking around, she spotted this:

100_0039.jpg

and said "I have been wishing for this my WHOLE life....like Rapunzel!" :cutie: :rotfl:

um we didn't cave in, but I should buy this and save it for her birthday!

She did get some lipglosses to carry in her own bag:

100_0041-1.jpg

She loved how Mickey and Minnie were on different sides of the bag.

My Mom also go the other kids a gift. We picked out these for Rachel:

100_0060.jpg

which she loves! and Nathan got this:

100_0056.jpg

he added it to his TS collection and it relly does smell like Strawberries. But Bekah wasn't to sure about Lotso being in our home...

100_0057.jpg

I also got another shirt and another bag :rolleyes1 here is a picture of the loot from my 2 Disney store excursions, my Mom got me the cool Dis green water bottle bag. The Mickey American flag head I actually got at Old Navy the day before.

100_0048-1.jpg

Back at the Mall, I took my Mom to the Doorway to Dream Store so I could show her the models of BLT.

100_0043-1.jpg

I meant to take pixs inside the models...but duh, I was too distracted talking w/ the guide and my Mom and watching Naomi-Ruth's reaction I didn't.

She [Naomi-Ruth] got the biggest kick out of seeing "our" Disney home here...and my Mom just loved it and can't wait till I can treat her to a stay there.

We also stumbled by this little girl:

100_0044-1.jpg

so overall it was like a mini Trip HOME to my happy place :goodvibes

hope you enjoyed my pixs and stories and much as I did yesterday!

How fun!
The Disney store is such a great place to get a fix in between park visits. Love the wedding dress! Will that be used for another BBB visit?

Awww.....what a great way to get a Disney fix! All the Disney stores around here have closed. :sad2: I love, love, love the Mickey flip-flops! I want a pair for myself!

I love the things that come out of kids' mouths! Naomi-Ruth's reaction to the tea set cracked me up!!! :rotfl:

Great loot from the Disney Store. I may need to get a couple more bags when I am there on Saturday for beach groceries. ;)

yes Jennifer...I haven't been in so long so it was fun :goodvibes not sure about the dress for BBB in Jan...we haven't thought that far ahead yet for the next trip. My ADR day is mid July, so we'll have to come up w/ a plan. :thumbsup2

Were you in a gray mood this week? :confused3

yeah I know right....it didn't dawn on me how dismal that sort of looked till I layed them all together :rotfl:

I've never heard of the Doorway to Dreams - it looks so cool!!

I think there is only a few and Chicago is one of the lucky areas to get one!

Yeah, you should teach me how to "not cave in". I am so bad at that and Madelyn isn't even a year old yet!!!

My Mom also go the other kids a gift. We picked out these for Rachel:

I'm so glad you were able to get a break! I know you've been working so hard with the event at school you are chairing (is that over yet?) and keeping up with four kids, I honestly don't know where you find time to breathe. It's always nice to get a respite from the daily grind.

the school event is a week from Friday...almost over :woohoo: and thanks, it has been a bit crazy here lately so it was a nice break. My Mom is a great grandma always treating the kids to little things :goodvibes

I know the flip flops are great I do wonder if they come in adult sizes online :confused3
