Lost my father this past Saturday (5/22) at 83. I don't think I've ever felt this sad!
:sad1:

Anyway he was a Korean War Vet.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I forgot to mention in your response on my other thread regarding Memorial Day, you must be very, very proud of your dad..:lovestruc

Again - my condolences to you and your family..

Oh how proud you must be of your dear father to have gallantry attached to his name. I'm sorry for your loss, but know that his service during the Korean Wae will be remembered and appreciated. Prayers to you and all who love him.

I'm sorry for your loss; much thanks to him and everyone who has served or is serving.

I am so sorry about the sad loss of your Dad and send you prayers at this most difficult time. You must be so proud of him . My dear Dad was a World War 11 Vet, who lived to be 86yo and sadly I know your heartache well. This proud Army Mom thanks your Dad, my Dad, my Korean War Vet DH, our DS currently serving in Afghanistan, and all our brave military, past and present, for their many sacrifices in protecting our wonderful country. Freedom is not free.

OP I'm so sorry. He sounds like he was an amazing man.

Thanks to all past and present members of the armed forces. You are appreciated.

OP, I'm sorry for your loss. :(

It's FLEET WEEK here in NYC. :yay: :woohoo: 3000 of our Navy & other maritime men & women descend on our city each year around Memorial Day for a week of much deserved shore leave. :dance3:

Yes, and have you seen them? They're everywhere! God bless the NYers who stop them in the streets to thank them and take pictures with them. I know it must make them feel great!

Yes, they come out like white ants after a rain shower, all milling about. White uniforms all over the streets! I keep wanting to ask them how they keep their white uniforms so white is such a sooty city. :confused3 That has to be one of the best kept military secrets. :lmao: :thumbsup2

Your Dad sounds very special, I am sorry for your loss.

THANKS to all who have served, and to their loved ones supporting them at home.

OP, I am so sorry for you loss.

I lost my Dad 11 years ago and it seems like it was just yesterday, sometimes. He was also a vet; retired from the Air Force. He served in the tail end of WWII, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Being in the USAF was something he was very proud of.

My bil was able to obtain all his old paperwork showing the medals he had been given over the years (with so much moving around some things were lost) and had the medals reissued and gave my mom a shadow box with all the medals displayed along with an American flag. It sure makes my family proud to see the things he accomplished in something he loved so much.
