Grandma needs to know which movie to take 3 year old to see (she's a very mature 3 year old and can actually sit through a whole movie). Happy Feet says PG (rude jokes)-CW is rated G.

Any recommendations?

My very sensitive DD7 handled Happy Feet pretty well. We haven't tried Charlotte's Web yet. The up side of Happy Feet is that no one dies in it. Would you DD be able to handle Charlotte dying?

We took DD#1 (3.5 yrs) to happy feet and I will not let her watch it again until she's a bit older.
She sat for the first 1hr until it started into the more grown up stuff....then she kept telling me she had "to pee."

DH and I think that it's a movie for kids 7+. We think it's a great film for the first hour but after that, EVERY kid in the theater was trying to get out. There had to be 20+ kids bored and not understanding the jokes, etc after that hour.

Anyway, that's our experience.

I edited b/c I remembered one scene where DH and I knew the movie was above her. He goes to an aquarium and he is hallucinating and not understanding why his friends and family are not with him. We would explain the whole aquarium thing to her, but not his hallucinating.

I thought Charlottes web was very, very cute and well done :) Does your Grandchild normally sit thru non-animated movies OK? If so, she should be fine. Lots of cute animals and what not :)

Charlotte's Web...nice surprise! I had no idea it was live animation! Very well done if the three year old can handle Charlotte dying. :sad1:

I took my dd 3 to see happy feet. She loved it. It was alittle long though, but dd did find have been taking her to the movies since she was about 2.

I've seen both with my 3 year old, and he like both but got fidgety by the end of both, but as for me, I liked Charlotte's Web better.

My 4 yr old has seen both movies.

We both liked CW much better. I will not be buying happy feet on DVD. It's just kinda out there. I didn't like robin williams penguin character at all.

We saw happy feet and wont be buying it on dvd either. Thought it was more of an animated environmental message. I am all for teaching children, but thought it was a bit over the top.

I havent seen happy feet but I did take my youngest (4 yrs old) to see Charlottes web. Now of all my kids he has been the worst about sitting through a movie but he loved CW. It was really good.

Well, unless Grandma wants to be bored out of her gourd... go to CW. It's a classic, and done cute.
I really hated HF!

I have not seen CW yet, but I have heard it is very good.

We saw Happy Feet. I don't recommend it. Because being strange, having some weird messages over young kids head, it was a bit slow and boring too.

Go for CW. :thumbsup2

In fact that sounds like a good idea. Maybe we will go see it.

Now to take the 2 year old, or leave her at home. (we left her with grandma for Happy Feet, thank God.)

Charlotte's Web! I'm boycotting Happy Feet because they are advertising for a drug company!

I've taken my boys to see both movies.

Charlotte's Web is a far superior movie than Happy Feet.
However, I'm wondering if a 3 year old would be able to sit through a non animated movie. My 3 year old didn't see CW, we had him do another activity with dh during that time.

My 3 year old did sit through Happy Feet...but again that movie wasn't as good as CW.

my 2.5 year old twins and my 4 year old saw both. happy feet was fun because of the music, but it is very long (or maybe just seem like it is) and gets very very weird and a bit creepy. CW on the other hand, was just adorable. I was a huge fan of the animated movie from the 70s and wasn't sure how I would like the new one, but it was great. the kids loved it.

We've seen both and my 3-almost-4yo dd liked Happy Feet, but LOVED Charlotte's Web.

Plus, it's a classic, you (probably) know the story. Happy Feet has an environmental message that is not mentioned in the trailers or ads, and whether you agree with it or not, you might want to see it with her to explain anything.

Well, Charlotte's Web it was! Darling granddaughter sat through the whole movie and didn't even need a potty break (poor dad with 2 girls sitting behind us had to leave 3 times for "ladies" room!)

She didn't understand it all by any means but asked several questions---loved the 'piggy' and really like Charlotte (I thought they could have made her a little less creepy looking! (although she was authentic).

I'm sure when she gets older we'll be renting and watching it again.

Thanks for the input!
