I was actually angry when "Happy Feet" won best animated picture over "Cars" - I mean....come on. Are they just tired of giving Pixar awards????

No, Happy Feet is not a Disney movie.

JMHO, but Happy Feet wasn't all that great. I definitely did not think it was an Oscar-worthy film.

I haven't seen Happy Feet but I was greatly disappointed Cars did not win. :( You could see Lightning and Mater were sad.

This was the environmentally friendly awards season and Happy Feet had the message more in tune with what the Academy was honoring this year.

I agree with you however. Cars was the superior movie, in both technical and story-telling aspects.

I've heard that Happy Feet wasn't that great either. I didn't see it, but many others have, and said it wasn't all that great. Plus, they really push it towards the kids, and some said it's not at all appropriate for young kids!

OTHO - I loved Cars! I was very surprised when that didn't win!! I thought the story was great, and of course so was the animation... Who knows what people were thinking??

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure if it was... Since that's the case, I agree that's why they probably voted for it! :confused3

And that's exactly what I said to DH - That Happy Feet was more "green" for a "green" Oscars......but it got bad reviews. My boys saw it and thought it was fairly forgettable.

Now "Cars" is an obsession in my house and quite frankly the better movie!

WOW....and i consider myself a dis'er....

I was happy when "those feet" won when
I thought it was Disney:lmao:
Now I'm not happy:rotfl2:

The heavier message movie won. Now it appears even the animated movies are voted on based on their politics. :sad2:

Slightly off topic, but I think that's the reason that Melissa Etheridge's song from An Inconvenient Truth beat three numbers from Dreamgirls for Best Song, too.

Cars was one of the only things I was rooting for so I was disappointed. I saw Happy Feet and it just did not compare to Cars.

That's what I thought too. The Oscar voters like to send messages-they did it last year with Crash. (which I liked, but I don't know if it was the best for the year)

I didn't see Happy Feet, so I really can't say if Cars got robbed or not.

Agree about the political thing. Kids just looked at us and we all shook our heads. They are 9 & 11 and don't know a single person their age that wasted their time on Happy Feet!

Poor poor Mater....so sad. :sad2:

Cars certainly got the votes hands down in our house. We LOVE it! :goodvibes

Happy Feet....eh...take it or leave it.

Why they don't ask us before handing out these awards! :rotfl:

Oh I was so angry! And I agree, it won because of it's message. I hated Happy Feet. I thought it was the biggest waste of my money and time. My kids hated Happy Feet. We watch Cars at least 3 times a week. Very, very disappointed that the Oscars turned out the way they did.

:confused3 I haven't seen Happy Feet yet, but it's hard to imagine anything beating Cars.. It was such a great movie..

I thought it was a weak year for Hollywood's animated films, Cars included.

I agree it was a weak year.

Now I have to be the one who says this..... i hated cars (there i said it)
I couldnt even finish it ..... and i gave it away so it is no longer in my home..... Happy Feet I actually enjoyed.

OK, risking flames here...

I adore Pixar movies but was disappointed with Cars. Maybe because we are not a NASCAR family or some other reason but I couldn't connect with it.

Happy Feet was 75% adorable and 25% bizarre.

Really, I don't think either one was Oscar material but they had to give a statue to someone and maybe there was Pixar fatigue or maybe it was a "green" year.

JMHO! :duck:
