Happy 5th of May everyone... here in town we are celebrating Contraband days- and sometime this afternoon Jean Lafite and his bucaneers will take over the city and make our mayor walk the plank into the lake- then they run the city for the next week... Jolly Rogers are flying high all over town.

Today is my 22nd wedding anniversary! Woot Woot, We'll be dining at Storytellers at Grand Calif. and doing the Fantasmic Dessert seating tonight!

Here is a little Happy Cinco de Mayo history lesson for you all:

History Lesson

Most people don't know that back in 1912. Hellmann's Mayonnaise was
manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of
the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to
be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York.
This would have been the largest single shipment delivered to Mexico.

But, as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship hit
an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost.

The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly
awaiting its delivery; were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was
so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which they
still observe to this day.

The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known,
of course, as "Sinko de Mayo".

Happy Cinco De Mayo all! I was planning on fish for dinner, but now I want Moe's....and a margarita. LOL Thanks

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I can't wait to share that with my kids. Funny, cause my daughter was asking me what exactly Cinco De Mayo is this morning.

Happy Anniversary to you too!! Enjoy the evening. :goodvibes

Yay!! For us ACWW players we get Cinco De Mayo items. I got a sombrero (sp). Woo!!

This is off topic somewhat...but Friday is usually pizza day in the cafeteria at my daughter's school. Anyway, since today is Cinco de Mayo, they are substituting the pizza with....fahitas! I told her about it, and she said "Mommy can you pack me a lunch today?"

I guess she's just a good ol' American girl....

Lol, I don't know how many people think it's Mexican Independence Day... but then again, I don't think many people are sober enough by day's end to even think about what day it is! :p

Awww, no closing tonight for me! Too busy hopping around in the Mission for drinks and yummy Mexican!!!

Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone!! :goodvibes

Sync 'O The Mayo. Hmmm

I can't even Sync the ketchup/catsup. :lmao:

But, it is "5 O'clock somewhere", and "the weather is here, I wish you were beautiful", so bring on the 'ritas. :cool1: :cool1:

Happy Cinco de Mayo from your resident Mexican! lol Yes, a very special day that symbolizes the victory at Puebla. Many ppl actually do think today is Mexico's Independence day but that's actually on the 16th of September. But today is equally just as important because it lead to the independence of Mexico. And a bit of tid bit, Mexico really doesn't celebrate Cinco de Mayo, it's more of a Mexican-American thing. :scratchin

Que Viva Mexico, Viva!! :woohoo:
