Happy Administrative Professionals Day

To all secretaries and other administrative professional's - hope your bosses are better to you today than they are throughout the rest of the year.

Our firm has breakfast for us today - and I'm not talking just bagels and muffins. We've got eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast, bagels, muffins, pastry, quiche...yummy! They also gave us travel mugs filled with chocolate, an Amex gift cheque and movie passes - with free popcorn and soda coupons - for two!

I also received flowers from one of my attorneys and the other one came by and read the card and made a joke about giving me work instead of flowers - so we'll see if he gets me something later today.

Not a bad place to work. My old boss didn't give me anything and pretty much ignored the day.

Yep, I'm sure I'll be ignored today! They used to do a little something but quit that a few years ago. I'd just be thrilled to be told "Happy Secretary's Day" but I know that's not going to happen. Today is no different than any other day - I will perform "miracles" and then go home!

I'll get nothing. My boss ignores all that stuff. Yet his mom sends him a card for everything-Easter, St. Patti's, 4th of July, you name, there is always a different card on his desk. For christmas this year I got a card that said he made a donation to "Right to Life", and I know for a fact that he didn't, he used sample cards that "Right to Life" gave him. Cheap son of a gun.

I got a card.

I dont want to be an admin anyway. I applied for a Sales and Marketing job, got offered that job, accepted that job, and was made an admin. Nothing wrong with being an admin - but its like I am starting over in a new career (all my other jobs were in the field I majored in - PR and Marketing).

But anyway - happy admin day everyone!

Well, we were SUPPOSED to go out for lunch today, and typically we get a $50 gift card to Kohl's.

HOWEVER 10 minutes ago, one my bosses walked out crying saying she just quit, so now, who knows...

I’m not a AA but our boss always gives us gift baskets every year. Lo and behold I just got my HUGE gift basket from Perfect Basket, my kids are gone have fun digging through it tonight!

Well it's also my birthday. I've worked for my boss for 6 years before he took over the company we worked together for 5 yrs. He just left for an appt. and I haven't gotten a happy secretary's day, administrative asst. day or Birthday. His birthday will be coming up and I'll probably wish him a happy bd and get him a present. Oh well.

A past co-worker just e-mailed me something that I thought was odd. She made a statement like you have to give to get. And did anyone give the Boss last year?

Well, the boss came in this morning in a ROTTEN mood and took it out on me once again for no reason - why oh why do I keep putting up this person!!!

I'm the only support person in the office - neither attorney will say anything to me about Professional whatever day - never ever!!

Ok, so I get in to work this morning and I have flowers . . .but they were dead daffodils . . .they've been dead for a while now . . .so very very strange!

He also left me chocolates . . . I'm wondering if they are half-eaten or have bugs? I haven't opened them up yet . . .

He has a very odd sense of humor . . . Makes me miss my old boss even more . . .

I didn't get anything. I actually forgot about it since we don't celebrate admin or boss day in my dept. Which is fine, but it does kind of get to me when the parade of flower deliveries and the lunch exodus occurs.

I got flowers from my real boss. One of the manager's I support is taking me to lunch tomorrow and another director is taking me to lunch when he returns from vacation.
