Happiest place on earth planned by a first timer

I also agree that driving is probably best for your DH. Getting to WDW faster (by plane) would be a mute point if you got there and he was sick.

Try here....http://wdwent.com/

You can get a rough idea of the times for things now and the site is constantly updated so you can look at it again right before you leave to check for any changes.

Thank you sooooooooooooo much for the link! That is perfect! :flower3:

I agree it wouldn't be much fun if we got there fast but he was sick. Hopefully we can keep him healthy the whole trip!

Hi there!

I am following along. I can't wait to hear all about your trip. It's going to be so exciting for you, especially because it will be your first trip. Are you planning on doing a TR?

After reading through all of this, I agree that you do deserve a vacation after not having one in 5 years and having family emergencies.

I can't wait for more!

Welcome to all my new followers! Thanks for reading and following along. All tips and comments are welcome!

Last night DH ordered some comic shirts and a new hat from Stylin Online. He didn't want any Disney shirts and he already has some Star Wars tees and an Avengers tee (as well as some metallica and other graphic tees. He basically lives in graphic tees and jeans but some are really old and show it). We also need to get him some pants but since he's on a diet and loses like an inch a week (so not fair how fast guys lose) I don't want to buy him any pants til next month. The shirts will likely be too big as it is.

OH and I ordered myself a Wonderwoman tee. lol I hope it fits, its an XL but its juniors and those are hit and miss sizewise for me. I know its the wrong 'brand' for Disney (DC instead of Marvel) but I wanted another fun shirt to wear. Also its a crew neck and I'm not fond of those so it will likely be going back but I wanted to try it on. I too need new shorts since I don't own any, but I plan to wait til next month when they are hopefully on sale. I have to wear pants to work and then I wear dresses at home. I thought of just getting bike shorts to go under my dresses and I may bring one or two but most are really worn looking and I don't think they are good enough for Disney.

In other shopping news my Disney shirts came the other day. The both fit snugly I'm hoping they losen up a bit before our trip (i too am on a diet) but they do fit and are super cute! :)

I also just placed DH's scooter reservation. I found a 10% discount on retailmenot. I got him one that is non-medical looking so he will look as cool as a dude can in a scooter. This one has big wheels and chrome finishes and is made to look like a bike more than a scooter. I really like it. Maybe he will let me ride it a bit. ;) Link to his cool scooter:

I also decided I must see Brave before going to WDW. Hopefully it will hit the cheap theater before we go but if not seeing it at the regular theater will likely be cheaper than seeing it at Disney. I am sure that theater in DTD is not cheap. Or alternatively maybe I should WAIT to see it until I'm at WDW and then that would be a fun evening activity for Animal Kingdom day since the park closes so early. Hrmm...Any thoughts?

36 DAYS!!!!!!!

I love shopping for clothes, especially clothes to wear to Disney!

I would wait to see Brave in Disney. I think that would be really cool to see it there! I've already seen it twice (It's THAT good!) and I kind of want to see it again...

YAY! 36 days!!!! :cool1:

So I've been thinking a lot about clothes and talking about it on my August board and I think I am going to try some exercise pants with moisture wicking technology. It's what people who walk/run wear and it works for them. I was already planning on getting socks with the moisture wicking so why not pants? I may still check out some shorts too but I think the exercise pants will work! They will also be sooo comfy!! They aren't necessarily the most stylish choice but I think the comfort factor trumps that. I also plan on bringing dresses I already have that are in good shape and wear those too. Maybe if I see some on clearance I will add to my collection. :)

Also I've been having second thoughts on our trip. DH and I were talking about the bedroom yesterday. He said we should paint it and I said I was waiting to paint it until we got a bedroom set and HE said 'well if we don't go to Disney we can get a bedroom set' so THEN my brain kept thinking of all the practical things we could/should buy instead of the trip to the point where I had trouble sleeping last night. So today I told DH my thoughts this morning and he told me to stop it he was kidding and that we were going on the trip and We will likely only do this once in our life so we should do it up big and I'm lucky he's not insisting on a hotel on the monorail. :lmao: No talking to him. Oh well I guess I should just stop worrying about it.

We are going to Disney World in 35 DAYS!!!!!

I think you should stop worrying about your bedroom. I totally agree with your DH, that this is a big trip. Especially because it's your first! You just need to think about how you will be at the happiest place on earth in 35 DAYS! :goodvibes

I know I know....my brain is annoying. I am sooo excited for Disney so much. I can't wait to go!!!! This is why we never go on vacation and why we never went when i was a child. There were/are always 'better' things to spend money on than a vacation. But I hate never going anywhere and I need a vacation! When I got married we agreed to yearly trips on our anniversary. We went on a mini trip the first year and haven't been since. Must get back on board with yearly vacations no matter how small. ::yes::

Everyone deserves a vacation every year! Even if it is just a weekend away. Maybe you can talk your husband into a Disney vacation every year on your anniversary. Just an idea for you guys...

Well of course! After you go for your first time, you get sucked in. That's what Disney does to you.

I'm thinking Aug 18-24, 2013 and am hoping for Free Dining bounceback! :thumbsup2

My mom and I are going on the Dream August 1-4 and then staying in WDW from the 4-11. At least that is the plan so far!

I agree with other posters who say you need a vacation. That is exactly where I am right now. I had surgery in June 2011 and there was no vacation because I was unemployed. So this year, come heck or high water, we were having a vacation. I now have a job, but it has been an extremely horrible year that is ending even more badly (I know the english grammar is horrible, but it conveys the thought). I probably shouldn't be going on vacation, but our little family needs one after this year and not having one last summer. So, no savings account right now, but we are going to Disney. It is what we need, we need family time in our happy place, so that is what we are doing. You must give yourself time to have a good time to "relax" and have fun, it is vital to going forward in a positive manner. Trust me, I know. Like Nike says, just do it!!! :lmao:

How are the plans coming? I'll bet you're getting so excited!:cool1:

As far as vacations every year, you can learn to think outside the box. Some of our most memorable times were just camping for the weekend or going to an amusement park. I don't know what there is near you, but even a long weekend at a nice hotel in a city nearby can be very helpful. We live 45 min from Cleveland and 2 hrs from Columbus where we can go and see a play or a sporting event, museums and parks. We recently took a weekend to Columbus and went to the movies, a winery, a place where they made homemade ice cream and miniature golfing and of course out to eat. It was too hot outside to do other things I had planned, but you get my drift. It wasn't a real expensive outing, but it was fun to get away. And if you're like me, anytime I'm with my DH is fun, no matter what we are doing.::yes::

I hope your plans are going great and I know you're getting excited. The last 30 days seem to drag, but soon you'll be there!!!:rainbow:

I've just read through this thread and I couldn't agree more with what other posters have said: You really do deserve this vacation! It seems like a lot of people underestimates how much good a vacation can do to you.

Wow! A lot of discussion on my PTR! I wonder why I didn't get any emails. I am supposed to get email notifications whenever someone comments. Oh well.

I would absolutely love that as would DH, but we can't afford that. I am hoping we can do a trip with DH's family soon and that would be cheaper since we'd be splitting costs with his parents/family.

Exactly!

That is what I am hoping for too! DH wants to talk his family into doing a bounceback deal for next year sometime. I think free dining would really help persude them. You can reserve more than one room with the deal right??

Thanks! That's how we feel too. So many years of bad health and family emergencies we really need it. Where else to go than the happiest place on earth to lift our spirits!?

Actually from these boards (when asking about the elephants in Animal Kingdom) I learned about the Indy Zoo that has African elephants (my fave!) and you can help give them a bath and everything and while most wouldn't find that fun I think that's a dream! As soon as I learned about it I almost wanted to cancel Disney to go because its cheaper and hey that sounds like fun to me, but DH wasn't quite as excited as I was about it so we agreed to do that next year. Indy is only 3-4 hrs from us so that's my next vacation I want if we don't bounce back with the inlaws. :) I get excited just thinking about it. I love elephants. We live not too far from Chicago and St. Louis too but I grew up in IL equidistant from both of those places so I've been to them alot and unless there is a particular event I want to go see I have no desire to go again. I'm not really a big city girl. I prefer smaller clean safe cities. :)

Thanks! I guess I grew up with little to no importance put on vacations but I always longed for them. I hope now that I'm older I can learn to appreciate and put value on them. :)
