Yay! A new TR! I can't wait to read more!
LOVE the quilt idea! I'll show Kristin, since she's similarly into over-the-top keepsake creation
I must admit, I enjoyed reading about your basement's water problems. Is that a sign that you're a very entertaining writer who can make even a bad situation enjoyable to read about, or a sign that I'm completely heartless? I'm going with the former!
Loving this story so far, and you're not even there yet. Keep it up!
Great update Shannon!
That's awful about your plumbing problems. The joys of home ownership, right?
That quilt is going to be absolutely amazing! You're so talented.
The quilt idea is awesome! I love the squares you have finished so far!
Sorry about the water in the basement problems - when we were in Disney last year our basement partially flooded and just a few weeks ago water poured on around a poor seal on one of the basement windows. The downfalls of homeownership.
I would never miss a tr of yours!! Theyre fantastic!! Sad that our trips didnt end up overlapping, but next year!!![]()
Man I WISH southwest flew to Canada! Those free bags would come in handy in Oct!!
OH NO! I hope the water was gone for good after this!
Welp, theres my answer for that! Funny that the beagle thinks of the plumber as friends though, thats adorable! Bahaha
Boo to the delayed flight!! Thats always such a bummer on the way IN to Orlando! Lol. Glad that the dme lady was right about the luggage!
Love love LOVE the idea of an autograph quilt!! I was looking into a custom made autograph book for jenna and I last month but I thought of it too close to leaving lol, your idea is far superior lol! Love the jake shirt too!
Excited to read more!
Glad you're getting started! Love your reports!
Joining in can't wait to here about your trip!
Ugh those flight delays though. I mean, it could have been worse, but I'm sure you still weren't thrilled.
Interesting that they can pick them up without the tags. I wonder how that works.
And I commend you for your project and the work you've done it so far. Seems like something my DW would do, but I would never have the skill or the patience for.
Love, love, love, love, love the quilt squares. I will be showing them to my mom!!!
We leave for our trip TOMORROW but I will be subscribing - hope there are a few more updates for me to read in a week!![]()
I love your writing, btw. You crack me up. I'm hoping to post a bit on my blog while I'm gone - hopefully I can do that a bit.http://www.jennstwosteps.blogspot.com/
I totally got the reference for your TR title the second I saw it in the list.![]()
I adore Frozen. My kids are 15 and 11 - they like it too but it's really me that's crazy about it. I bet I'll be saying "hang in there, Joan" a few times myself!
Loved this line. Gotta love dogs who love humans.![]()
Aw, thanks! It's true, though. I've laughed at least 3 times at your new updates. My favorite being that your beagle is sad when the plumbers leave and you hope to never see them again.
That's terrible about your basement. I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine coming back from a vacation and finding that.
Yay for a quick trip through security!
That quilt will be amazing. You are a wonderful mom for doing that for Maddie. I can't wait to see it finished!
And Maddie looks so big now with her adult teeth in the front. That happened to my 7 year old this year too.![]()
And we are on our way!!!
Sorry to hear about all the basement water issues. That is never fun to deal with.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Quilt idea! That is seriously something she can keep forever.![]()
Shannon, just FYI, there is nothing boring about the days leading up to Disney, especially when you're writing them. They are a joyous and celebratory period and should be cherished.
"aside from about a dozen princess dresses I had not packed for Maddie and I at all." <------ This makes me giggle.
Awesome getting your first FP of the trip for the security line.
I know with all this it may seem strange that "Bryan watched Sherlock" caught my eye, but if this is the BBC Sherlock... OMG YES!!!!! BEST SHOW EVER!!!
OMG Shannon, I love that quilt idea. I can't wait to hear the stories of the individual acquisitions and of course to see the final product. EPIC!
I very much doubt I'm going to be bored.
I'll just sit right back and hear this tale.
WHAT?????
Hold the phone!
You?!???!? Not prepared????
No. Of course not.
You've already done more than most of us put together....
But you're not prepared.
Wow! Not only can you sew, but you can carve too!
Only 2 suitcases for Maddie?
So disappointed.
You really should have specified that at least one of the persons going was a princess.
They make allowances for them.
I sense some frustration here.
"blasted" dress.
Yup. Possibly some frustration.
Oh, no! Not now!!!
I do recall.
I'm also thinking... (without reading ahead)... that's it's something else.
Very nice.
And I already assumed they were Maddie's.
Unless you have very tiny feet.
!!
Three... THREE inches????
Oh, he did a really good job there.
Perhaps it's time to ask around for another plumber.
One who actually knows something about plumbing, perhaps?
I shouldn't laugh at your misfortune, but that's funny.![]()
Have you mentioned this before? On another flight?
Seems like you have, but I could be wrong.
DW and I were just talking about that.
I'm going to have to look into it.
Please, Lord.
Help me remember....
Nevermind Lord. I sent myself an email.
However, due to the Magic Bands being not quite what they're advertised...
We wound up in the worst part of Miami, in between two gangs engaged in a war.
That's a really good idea, Shan.
I would've been shocked if it'd been otherwise.
Cool idea, though.
Trips always start with boring details. I just can't tell a story without the start though! I'd love to be like "and then we were at Disney", but man, for continuity's sake, I just can't!
We fly Southwest all the time too. Gotta love the two free bags. But then I use them and that's not good either.
OMG, that completely sucks that you came home to three inches of water after you were told that everything was fine. Grrrrrr.
Oh beautiful Garretts popcorn. Definitely a must have in this area.
The quilt is such a great idea. A good way to remember her love of characters. It may last, you never know.![]()
Gotta get there somehow and that is part of the story too, not boring at all! Thwarts really stinks about the water in your basement! You know it's bad when your dogs are friendly with the plumber!
I love the quilt! Soo cute and it will be worth it when you get it all done! I too, come up with huge unrealistic plans and often work into the wee morning hours trying to execute said projects. It's a problem, but when you are creative, it's a part of the process.
Wow love the squares!! Such a great idea! Wish I was crafty enough for all these awesome projects you do!! Very much looking forward to reading more, I enjoy your TRs!
Just coming quickly out of lurkdom to say I'm subscribed! Your trip reports are always very fun and entertaining!![]()
doeth! How did I miss this starting?!?!?! Stupid work getting in the way of keeping up on trip reports!
Love the FAQ! though, based on it you have a few annoying and judgmental readers
Ah, we've been there with the flooded basement ... we have a sump pump, but that doesn't do much if the power goes out!
Looking forward to all the meet and greets and the dining sort-of-reviews! And great idea with the quilt! It is looking great so far![]()
omg I can not believe the water returned !
Delayed flights are the worst! Especially on the way to Disney.
Love the glittery magic band. Did you make it as a cover?
That quilt sounds like a major project but the squares you've done so far are gorgeous! It's going to look amazing & will be such a great memory to have!![]()
Subbing! Not sure when I'll get caught up...trying my best to get back on these boards and not let real life interrupt me!![]()
I'm subbing in. I've followed along with your last two trip reports but I never seem to get around to posting.
OMG! I love the quilt. It's the coolest souvenir i've seen.
Yay! A new TR! I'm so excited to hear all about y'alls' latest trip.
First - I LOVE the family pic in your intro. And speaking of your intro, it is great! Very funny!
That really stinks about the plumbing problems! So sorry that y'all had to go home to that.
Besides the delayed plane, looks like the trip was off to a good start.
That quilt is going to be amazing. And what a sweet keepsake for Maddie. It seriously brought a tear to my eye. That is really special, Shannon!
I'm late, but I'm here! Loving reading about the trip!![]()
Okay, so I got caught up pretty quickly!Love the quilt squares! What an amazing idea! Sorry about the basement issues...
![]()
I was is Disney when you started this. It will take me some time to catch up, but I wanted to save a spot.
***Okay, back and caught up. I loved the intros as always.
I am so sorry to hear about the water and the expense. The kids just had their house redone and then after tiling the basement floor, they got water. They have roots growing in their pipes. They were able to fix most of the pipes for the time being (they indicated it would probably have to be done in two or three years again).
That's a LOT of princess dresses you packed.
Love the things you've done with the characters autographs.
I've started my girls' TR and it's linked in my signature if you want to join along (can't remember if I sent you a bat signal).
How did I miss the start of your TR???? Can't wait to read about your adventures!
Miss Maddie's hair has gotten soooo long!!! And she looks much older since last year's TR!! How does that happen??? Why do our kiddos grow so fast???? My DD will graduate from high school tomorrow nightand I can't believe how quickly it has gone!!
Waiting for the next update!
PS - That quilt is awesome!!
How many sparkly dresses?
Looking forward to your newest trip report!
An impressive level of preparation... but still not ready????![]()
![]()
So much for that logic...![]()
Yuck. Sorry you had to return home to that expensive mess.
The quilt is a really cool idea! I know she will absolutely love it and treasure it!
I love your patches the quilt is a great idea! This year I am going to have the characters sign sweatshirts for my girls, and one for my mom (as a surprise). If I had any type of sewing skill I would try to the quilt.
We are flying Southwest this year and I am excited about the 2 checked bags pre person. We also fly down with lots of Princess dresses.
Great start I can't wait to read more.![]()
all those plumbing problems sound horrible sorry you have to go through that. I love the idea of making a character signature quilt for Maddie it is something special that she will hopefully always treasure. Maddie looks so much more grown up than in your last trip report.
Love those pedicures! Maddie's nails are too cute. And, she is losing that little girl look... and growing up! And, the glitter magic band is just so perfect in every way! How you do that?
Eagerly awaiting more! But, no rush!
Karen
ooh a new TR, I knew I could count on you! Subscribing, following, and ultimately reading all of the updates in one sitting![]()
Yay! A new TR! I can't wait to read more!
I'm so glad that I paid attention and saw that you had started a new trip report. I wouldn't want to miss it! I hate that you had to deal with the flooded basement right before going to Disney.![]()
The quilt idea is a great one! I had a friend of mine do something very similar but the detailing around the squares didn't look as good at your's.
Looking forward to more!
looking forward to reading more x
The One With Fultons Crab House
Our server greeted us fairly quickly and offered us beverages while dropping off the complimentary crab dip and crackers. The dip is a creamy concoction with crab and flavors of lemon and horseradish. Im fairly certain that its got some cheese mixed in as well. MiL and I made quick work of the dip and crackers-its amazing stuff.
Bryan didnt have any-I suspect that he was afraid to get between the ladies and their dip.
