Handbags on Rides

Hi! It has been awhile since I have been to WDW and am so excited to be going back! If I remember correctly, I was able to take my backpack/handbag on most rides. I think I even remember a mesh pocket on EE. Can you please let me know which rides you have difficulty taking your handbags on? Also, the last time I was at WDW my DSs were younger so I carried a Vera Bradley backpack. This time I am thinking of downsizing to a mini-hipster, so it should be fairly easy to tuck in to a smaller space on the rides.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I found a cross body bag worked well for me because I just kept it on my body under the restraints. When that wasn't possible due to the configuration of the restraints, I would put my bag on the floor between my feet and keep the strap around my leg, just for some extra security!

I can't think of any rides off the top of my head that I had any real issues with. I believe Kali River Rapids now has a separate locker area for bags, but I haven't seen that firsthand so I'm not positive.

I can't think of any where I couldn't fit a bag and I've ridden all the major rides and coasters. We stopped lugging large backpacks a long time ago, but even they would just sit on the floor of the ride vehicle. Rockin' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror would have been the main 2 rides I'd keep a firm grasp onto any bag straps and splash and pirates I would not put on the floor.

I've had no problems with any size bag I've brought. RnR freaks me out a little as only small bags fit in the mesh pocket but never lost anything on the ride when I had a bag.

Don't take a bag or any non-waterproof device or phone on to kali.. use the free lockers located just after the entrance (lockers are before you get in line). this is a change there is no longer somewhere to store a bag on the ride itself.

Thank you so much for your quick replies! So glad to hear that I shouldn't have any trouble. I need to carry an Epi-pen so it gives me comfort that I can keep a handbag with me.

If you are including universal in your trip, they have a lot of rides (but not all) where you can't even have change in your pockets to ride. they offer free lockers for those rides and not sure what the situation with epipens would be so look into that more to be prepared.

You can bring your bag or backpack on all the rides at Disneyworld. Usually if I'm using a backpack, I put the bag on the floor and put my foot thru the handles so it won't go flying out of the ride. On Space Mountain I put the handle around the lap bar. Some rides I just put it on the seat next to me. If I'm wearing my Vera Bradley Hipster, I usually just keep it over my shoulder and leave it on the seat next to me.

In the past, I've carried a small cross body bag and taken it on all the rides. If there's a ride with storage space (like Soarin'), I use it, otherwise, I just wear the bag.

On my next trip, I'll have a diaper bag with me so we will see how that goes!

when we went with small children and an accompanying diaper bag, we always left the diaper bag in the stroller. I wasn't going to be changing a diaper while we were on the ride, so there was no need to carry it on the ride.

I would be too worried about it getting stolen. I'm sure diaper bag thefts are infrequent, but I'm guessing it does happen. Not a headache I want to be dealing with on vacation. My diaper bag is backpack style and not really all that big. I think it should fit fine on the rides.

The only ride that I struggled with stowing a backpack was 7DMT. The seats are tight as it is and my backpack barely fit between my legs on the floor.

The fact that it's so easy to bring bags on the rides with you in Disney is one of my favorite things about WDW compared to regular theme parks. I just hate having to leave it somewhere, even in a locked locker, and I'm always a little anxious about it when I have to be without it. My bag always fits with me on WDW rides.

Soarin' is the only ride I know of with any issues for storage, they let you put them on the ground and the CM move them out of the way.

If you want to haul your diaper bag around you can of course but it is also perfectly fine in the stroller. When we had one we left everything in it. No one wants to bother a diaper bag

You can take a backpack/purse on basically everything.
I use VB most trips now.
I'm not a fan of the mini hipster for myself because while it has plenty of pockets and would hold the items I need it also gets rather bulky.
I opt for a regular hipster that lays much flatter on my hip and I can even put a water bottle in it if I feel I need it.
I'm considering a little hipster next time. It's small but not quite as small as the mini hipster and it does not seem as bulky when filled.
BTW I keep my hipster bag on me on most of the rides which is great because I hated always taking my backpack off to go on a ride and then putting it back on and repeating over and over.

I vote for a Baggallini for travel! Love them for theme parks because they are nylon and have zipper compartments. Just bought this one for our October trip. :)

I hear many good things about that brand and have considered trying it.
How is the crossbody strap though?
I worry it will rub on my neck where as the VB cotton strap stays in place on my shoulder and is very comfortable.

The one in the picture (the one I just ordered) has a thinner strap than the other ones I have used. But I found the straps to be comfortable and they stayed in place on my shoulder. :)

I have one and I despise it. It rubs my neck terribly. I have other bags with mesh straps that don't bother me; don't know why this one does. YMMV!

The only problem I ever have is getting my backpack in that badly designed mushy mesh pocket under the no-room-to-do-this seat on Star Tours. Everything else has never been a problem.

I am a law-abiding person and when I see the very very expensive diaper bags that people just drape over their strollers at Disney, I start thinking of theft. I couldn't ever afford a Petunia Picklebottom bag (are they a thing anymore? my kid's 12) even if I was going to use it every day, but people would put them on the handles and leave them for hours. Sigh.

And since we did have something stolen from under our stroller at disneyland, and later saw a squirrel gnawing on a waterbottle cap (and even later saw a squirrel LICKING (I even got a picture of it) food someone left (but not on a stroller), we ended up leaving *nothing* in our stroller during the stroller days. Which was good b/c we got used to not overpacking for our days.

But still, you can take all sorts of things on Disney rides.
