Going on Saturday after wavering about whether to cancel again. Boosted, will wear N95 or double mask the whole time and cancelled indoor dining. I just need my fix after cancelling the past three September trips due to Hurricane/Covid/Covid. I plan to use sanitizer after I touch any ride surfaces and was wondering whether I need to bring a lot with me or does WDW have sanitizer stations all over. Thanks.

I BYO We found several hand sanitizer machines at the exit points that were empty at park opening earlier this month.

Unfortunately the hand sanitizers have gone by the wayside it seems. That was the 1 thing I really liked after COVID & had hoped they would keep up with.

Yes BYO - it became a game with us to try every sanitizer dispenser we passed - 99.9% were empty - indeed it was a shock on the rare occasions when we actually got liquid from one! But we were only there 11 days - so maybe it was a fluke…not.

Agree, during my Dec trip most sanitizer stands were empty. Of course you have to realize that while sanitizing hands is a good practice, it doesn’t really help reduce the risk of covid which is generally transmitted via the air. I bet that is why companies aren’t as vigilant about refilling sanitizer stations - although sanitizer could help prevent other illnesses.

The only place I've witnessed them being refilled has been at our resort. We've been here since Christmas Eve.

The hand sanitizers they had last fall were a sticky mess. We laughed at the big jelly stalagmites that formed under the dispensers like giant snot mountains.

Yes, bring your own hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes for surfaces. The cast members did a great job cleaning table surfaces, but it was nice to have my own wipes. If you are traveling by plane, you are still allowed to bring up to 12 oz of hand sanitizer in a carry-on bag, just needs to be put in the gray bins separately for the TSA.

Also, I know the disappointment of scheduling and canceling. I am wavering again about an upcoming trip at the end of January.

And when they are filled, you have a mob of people standing around to use the dispenser. Better to bypass the crowd and use your own.

I plan on bringing wipes with me to wipe down rails and ride handles. I've seen Purell hand wipes in markets, too

We got in the habit of sanitizing before and after each ride. I had wipes with me but trying to wipe down every ride isn’t practical after awhile. I did wipe down the tables before eating though. We also got mask holders (like older sunglass chains) and used them so we didn’t have to put our masks down at all

The hand sanitizer provided smelled terrible and left our hands sticky. Carry your own and refill every morning before you leave for the park.
Yes, all hand sanitizer isn't equal. Last year we had some super-nice stuff in the big dispensers at school -- it was a bit creamy and smelled of lemons. I asked our head custodian about the brand, but she said it's not available in individual consumer size. I did refill my own bottles from the school's big gallon squirt bottles.

Yes, while vigilance in cleaning is always good -- especially when you're around a lot of people -- Covid is an airborne virus.

Last year at school we did all sorts of cleaning; for example, they gave every teacher a bottle of "liquid death", which we were required to keep behind our desks /not allow students to touch, and students were required to wait in the hallways while we cleaned every desk between classes. This year we've dropped that, and I'm glad: it was a lot of effort in a not-so-useful direction.

We each only have so much energy to put into prevention, so it's important that we categorize things that are most likely to do us actual good.

unless you’re sticking your fingers in your mouth after touching something there’s nothing to worry about, covid travels via air.

Continued misinformation regarding Covid continues here. Germs can live on different parts of your body, but the main concern here is your hands. Your hands are what’s most likely to come in contact with germy surfaces and then touch your face, which is a potential path of transmission for the virus. in fact researchers in Japan have discovered the coronavirus can survive on human skin for up to nine hours, offering further proof that regular hand washing can curb the spread of the virus, according to a study published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases.

So yes the use of hand sanitizers is important, especially at a place like WDW.

A couple of weeks ago my son’s in laws got sick while visiting Florida/WDW - not Covid (different symptoms & 2 negative tests days apart) - most likely norovirus which is a virus that you get from touching contaminated surfaces & then putting your hands in your mouth. When cruise ships have outbreaks onboard they really emphasize hand sanitizing. I think hand sanitizers are a great idea & I wish the ones at WDW were both a better product & refilled frequently to help stop the spread of things like norovirus.
