I have a category 6 on hold for the 7 day Halloween cruise and the 10 day Christmas cruise in 2006. I was shocked to find out that the cost of the 10 day was DOUBLE the cost of the 7 day. I've never been on the ship before (we're going in July 2005 for the first time)...is this cost difference normal? Is it worth it? The price is 6800.00 for a familly of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) WITH airfare, transfers, and insurance for the Halloween cruise...and 12,995.00 for the Christmas cruise. Advice from those of you who have cruised either would be greatly appreciated!!!

This is just a guess, but DCL tends to increase prices when kids are out of school (XMas) and lower them when kids are in school (Halloween). Also, you're getting 3 more days (almost 1.5 times the 7-Day). Add both of those points to the fact that these "special" cruises (10 day cruises, the west coast cruises, the panama cruises, etc) sell out faster (and have the pricing tiers go up proportionately faster), and I'd guess some or all of the above explain the price difference.

I also would like to hear more on this. I am thinking of changing our 10-05 to 10-06 or 12-06. so we can do to days at CC. heard the weather is sometimes warm enough to swim but cooler at night. We will be coming from colder weather so I am thinking it will be fine. We would cruise 12-10-06 for about a third of that and then staying at wdw for a week. So we will be geting the best of it. I am thinking the christmas light would be better than the halloween dec. So I guesse I need to go get on hold for Costco again.
