I just got home a little bit ago after spending 5 days at the park...Im so tired but I wanted to come on here and check out the boards to see if anyone ever did the Halloween Haunts tour and if they reviewed it and I cant find it...but then again im really tired so who knows...I will give my review on it and the trip in general tomorrow or something ...we had a good time but it was really really hot and CROWDED....these crowds were worse than summer imo....but then again a few of us tried to warn everyone it would be like this...so I knew what I was getting into I just didnt expect to have to deal with 95-98º temps...today it was actually fall like weather...figures after I leave:headache: ...we stayed at DLH and ate at Steakhouse 55 for breakfast and did Crocs for nachos and my dd ate a veggie burger from there... did Lilo and Stitch, Naples, CC for lunch, Minnie and Friends, Wine Country Trattoria, and La Brea...so if anyone has any questions I will be glad to answer them...tomorrow:lmao:

it was fun...i had a good time...basically the tour starts out at guest relations right outside of DCA...in our tour there were 20 people...they had us wait in the VIP lounge...:woohoo: did I feel special or what???

while we were waiting they had Legend of Sleepy Hollow on dvd playing for us...

all of a sudden there was this burst in the door and this wild looking crazy girl who was dressed up like she was an original ghostbuster came in telling us that her name is Rachel and has been a CM for awhile and she had just been offered this job and she had been waiting her whole life for something like this as a ghost hunter and told us she had seen every twilight zone episode there ever was...so the first thing we got was the ear pieces and then she told us to go with her to TOT and she had her little ghost hunting gun out moving it around all down the street till we got there...while we were waiting in line she asks us what our favorite Twilight Zone episode was and keeps asking over and over about some Tina one...we get all the way to the elevator and she chickens out riding it with us...says shes too scared:rolleyes2 but when the doors open after the ride she is no where to be found:confused3 in her place is a woman called Jessica...now Jessica is wearing an old timey black dress and button up shoes with a cap of some sort and has a wrap around her shoulders...she is carrying ropes with an old fashioned key at the end of each one and tells us we must put it on...here is a pic of the rope

and the key which has a D on one side in fancy script and the other side it says "Disneyland Ghost Relations"

now we are told to turn on our earpacks and all I can hear is static and the occasional moan and then music...all of a sudden she starts to speak in an eerie voice...we find out that she is a spirit from the past that lives in the mansion and she takes us to DL and tells us the "other" side of the fairy tales in which the villains are really just misunderstood...for instance she tells us about Capt. Hook who is a hard working seaman who is constantly harrassed by a boy and a crocodile and that psychologists actually have a syndrome named after the boy...also she tells us about poor Snow White's stepmother..who all these years has been told she is the fairest one of all and then she comes in and takes all that from her oh and how ingenious it was of Maleficent to turn herself into a dragon and that it took alot of work and she never got any applause for her efforts...also she told us about "goblins" these little ones that are everywhere and if you dont run quickly from them they will latch on to you and stay with you for at least 18 years...hmmm so thats what happened:rolleyes1

we continued on and she told us ghost stories about New Orleans and gold mining towns and dia de los muertos..we rode snow white's adventure, BTMR and every so often our tour guide rachel would appear and want to know what happened to us but when she showed up, Jessica would disappear as well:confused3 ...she never saw our spirit though and the spirit had a good laugh at Rachels expense...we were over at BTR and she was telling us how the ranch hands would tell of a ghost there who wore a pumpkin on his head and float around and all you saw was this pumpkin head...well the spirit snuck up behind her from inside the ranch and made the pumpkin float behind her and scared her silly so she ran off from us again...I ended up telling her that I thought she should find another job because she was way too scared to be a ghost hunter and she said she had been told that:rolleyes: anyways whenever Rachel would run off screaming, Jessica would be right back where she left off laughing that she scared rachel:sad2: ...we finally ended up right outside of the bathrooms by NOS train station and Rachel finally was able to see our spirit with her equipment and she tried to chase after her to get some questions answered but no luck so we ended up over at HM and rode HMH and when we got in the buggy and started going upstairs, there was Jessica holding an old fashioned umbrella all illuminated from the white lights..it looked so cool...we werent expecting her there so we all kind of gasped but it made me chuckle a bit to see her...when we got off, Rachel was there saying that Jessica left a note and a basket of apples for us...they were of course candied apples on a stick...cinnamon to be exact...

candiedapple.jpg

i never thought they would let us keep the key and rope but they did and alot of people asked where I got the rope and key as they wanted to buy one...the tour was fun especially due to the fact that both girls played their parts to the extreme...they were perfect and made the tour very interesting...I know that this year Halloween is just a few more days and its probably too late to do it now but next year if they offer it I would suggest anyone with a slight interest in it to take it...I had alot of fun and they were very creative in the treats they gave out..I was expecting hot cider in a collector mug and maybe some candy and a collector pin like in the Holiday Tour but I was pleasantly surprised:goodvibes

Hey Lynn,

Sounds like fun and something I would like. I'm not into scary stuff too much, but this doesn't sound too bad.

Thanks for your great review!! Oh and DL was hot when we were there also. At least it made it nice for the water rides. :rolleyes1

yeah it was and i got a heat rash on my arms from it:headache:

OOOO !!!

Geeez, this is so exciting :) I soo want to do this next year !! Thanks so much for posting... verrrry cool.

Sounds like Rachel was asking your group about the "Talking Tina" episode of Twilight Zone which was called "Living Doll." I am a Twilight Zone freak so I would have chatted them up endlessly about my favorite episodes - and "Living Doll" is a great one! The doll murders people! Rod Serling made some GREAT series, between Twilight Zone and Night Gallery! Some of the best TV ever!

Oh that sounds like so much fun. I think we need to do it one year. Now if I can just leave those pesky goblins home....;)

The key was my all time favorite part of the tour! I'm not a big fan of candied apples so mine is sitting in my closet...I should probably go ahead and throw it out. :rotfl: The key, however, is hanging on my wall, right next to my bed. :goodvibes

How creeeeepy. My mom is into Twilight Zone as well. I'll ask her about that episode, I bet she remembers!

oO ! How cool ! Those keys are AWESOME ! I totally want one. I definitely want to go on this tour too !

Thanks for posting & I'm glad you had a great time! :cool1:

Hey I know that episode! My mom had a tall when she was younger that was about the size of an average 5 year old. Somehow the doll made it's way to our house and it scared the living daylights out of my sister and I. One morning my mom set the doll at the bottom of the stairs and taped one of its eyes shut so it looked like it was winking at you. Let me tell you, I've never heard my sister scream louder. :rotfl:

Frankly that would have scared me even.

I had one of those child-sized dolls, too - and I never trusted that thing! Yes! Anything with evil dolls is particularly creepy! What was cool was, Twilight Zone was a brilliant series in terms of delivering the big 'twist' in almost every episode. People love twists in movies and things (like in the "Sixth Sense," etc.). Rod Serling was great at that. (He did write the original Planet of the Apes movie, which has a twist at the end.) It was a very 'eerie' series, not necessarily scary. Of course, the TZ was very dated - I only became familiar with it in syndication when I watched the reruns as a kid. Of course, I am not old enough to have watched it when it originally aired, thank God!!! But, because it first debuted on TV in a much more 'pure' time, the Living Doll episode with Talking Tina was still relatively tame, but pushing the envelope for those times. She would say, in her sweet, pre-recorded doll voice, "My name is Talking Tina. And I am going to KILL YOU!"

So when Rod Serling then came out with Night Gallery in the late '60s and early '70s and I watched the reruns, it was creepy to me! That show was like the evil brother of Twilight Zone, but still with the twists and things that I love. NG had a killer doll episode, too, except this one was HIDEOUS to look at - not cute like Talking Tina! And there were episodes with witches and demons and monsters and Pagan statues that came to life and killed people - it was great!!! It was not gory (I don't like gory stuff) but it was macabre. I only wish that Rod Serling hadn't died so soon because he was working on a third spooky anthology series called "Wax Museum," and I can only imagine what mayhem those statues would have been up to after hours!!!

Anyway, sorry, Lynn, to go off topic. I wil return you now to your regularly scheduled program!!

Don't worry, she goes off topic all the time. ;)

I love the old TZ episodes, I add them to my Netflix queue all the time. Some of them I don't like so much, but other are just great. I love all the twist endings!
