Halloween Quest PTR~~THE TRIP IS OFFICIALLY OFF!

Oh, I love Beagles! I had one for 14 years. They are very loyal and forgiving!
Congrads on the addition to your family!
So true about one door closing and a new one opening!:goodvibes:goodvibes

Beagles seem like a good family dog so we're very excited for our new addition!

Ok "BIG" question-----Is he house trained? Wait 2 questions does he chew on wood or shoes?

I love the name -- Moose---- but funny how it fits.

Funny how legally animals are considered personal property. I think since animals have hearts and feelings they should be considered family.

Now tell us how he became part of the family.

Talk at ya later :)

House trained: YES Chews on stuff: NO

I think the name Moose came from the last family who had him for 2 months. My 21 yr old has been calling him Benny all day & seems to like it.....so since I didn't really feel like Moose fit him (he's not a huge dog by any means).....Benny it is!!

The family that had him, rescued him from a home that wasn't taking care of him & another female beagle. They already have 5 dogs (and 14 people) living in their home, so they knew they wouldn't be keeping him. They kept hiim long enough to figure out his personality, behaviors, etc before finding a "forever" home. They listed him on Craigslist & the 10 yr old that brought him home, hand picked our family from the emails they received!!!!

Hey Laurie!

I am joining! Sorry I am so late! I hadn't realized you started another PTR until you commented on Jessica's TR yesterday. So excited for you that you are in double digits! And congrats on the new puppy. He is cute.

Going to go back and catch up now. :)

Hi Andrea!!! Welcome!!!! Thanx.....we're pretty happy with him!!

What a good Beagle dog. :) That is a very nice name to give to your new family member.

We didn't name him but are naming him Benny....that way he truly is adopted into our family by us giving him a special name......Benny the Beagle!!!

aww....I am so happy for you guys

What a cute dog :cutie:

Thanx!!! He really is a cutie!!

The Beagle is so cute!! I love it!!

Thanx!! Cute, cute, cute!!

Yes, Benny looks like a Benny. Sort of funny how they name themselves--well with lots of help from your son of course :). But his New Family name sure fits :). I bet he is loving all the attention. Lots of hugs and lots of petting. Animals are sure great friends. We talk to them about our trials and they listen without saying a word LOL. Sometimes that is all we need -- to be heard.

Not sure who is luckier Benny or his new family. I am sure he would --if he could-- say he was the luckiest beagle ever.

Can't wait to hear Benny stories.

PS Son did a good job with name

Thank you......we feel Benny is a good name for him too & he seems to like it!! The home he was rescued from just tied him out & didn't give him any attention so he's definitely eating up all the lovings he's getting.

So last night at bedtime, he decided to jump up on our bed & he fell asleep at our feet, so we let him stay........he was quiet all night. Never thought I'd let a dog sleep on my bed, but it worked & no howling or whining!!

Your post brought back some funny memories of our 12 wonderful years with "Snuffy" our 225 pound St. Bernard. He was a lap dog -- yep he would back up to me when I was sitting on couch and sit with his big butt in my lap but back and front feet on the floor. Bed time some how gave him the idea that it was ok to jump up on bed and wiggle in middle of bed. He would stretch out put his feet on husbands back and push husband away from me LOL.

We lived in the country. Husband worked nights sometimes 6pm -3 am. One evening about 9:30 -10:00 one evening I get a knock at the door. ( Daughter was maybe 1). I answered but did not open. Was a guy delivering the Pizza "I ordered". Humm I didnt order a pizza and besides after waking up fully I thought we live to far out No one delivers this far out. Thank god old snyffy came around the corner and went wild. The guy ran off the Deck and drove off property as fast as I think he could. I was saved by the best friend any one could ever want.

This is why I think having a dog is a very good thing. We become "theirs" and will protect "their family".

Have a good day. One more rainy cooler day then looks like warm is on way. This weekend is going to be the warm weather you have been asking for. I hope the warmth lets you enjoy the 4th weekend. It was actually very humid the last 2 days here, and we never have humidity. This silly weather. I heard an old wifes tale that the bigger the spiders in summer-- and the more of them to -- means a bad winter. I sure hope that tale is wrong if not we are going to have a bad winter. I think I have killed ( now that sounds awful) so many huge spiders this year.

Wow, I'm glad you didn't open the door & that the dog was there to protect you!! Scary stuff!! I hated when my hubby worked at nights. When he was a paramedic, he did 24 hr shifts.......so glad he's home every night now.

It's been humid here as well....yuck! Yesterday afternoon about 3pm, the sun came out & it warmed right up....we only saw rain/sprinkles early morning......I'd be ok with it doing that again today!

No big plans for the 4th, but hubby did get the day off :cool1: So I'm sure we'll BBQ, set off some fireworks & maybe take the kids to a park to play. Won't have either of the older boys this time (which will be weird) but we'll survive. Hope you have a good 4th of July!!

Hi Laurie, how is Benny doing?
Happy 4th!!
~ lori

Benny's doing pretty good. He's been sleeping on our bedroom floor at night, which has stopped the howling/whimpering he does. He does a lot of that during the day when ever someone goes out the door or he's put outside. He definitely wants to be with someone....good thing I'm home pretty much all the time.

He got neutered yesterday & is healing well. My checkbook on the other hand will take a while to recoop!! Only ran us $485 for the surgery, heartworm testing & meds, flea meds, toe nail clipping, etc. I almost passed out!

Tickets went on sale for the general public today for the Mickey's Trick or Treat party & we're flat broke now......argggggggg Luckily we'll have time to get them....but I'd like to get those purchased ASAP.

Still waiting.....no longer patiently......for our adoption credit refund from the IRS.......it's crazy how long they're making families wait to get this & the hassle they're causing a majority of the families. So far, we've had no contact with them....no letters stating they need more info....not sure that's a good sign or not. Just would love to see that check in the mail!!!

Have a happy 4th of July!! Have you guys been to the Disney Junior Live Show?

Thanx Kaitlin....do you have any plans for the 4th? We're going over to my brother's house for a bbq & he goes up into Washington & brings back a ton of fireworks.....so that's our plan.

No we've never gone to the Disney Junior show......we've taken Anthony & Addy to Disney on Ice twice & hope to take the twins the next time as well. We've taken them to the DL Playhouse Disney show, but I know they've redone it but haven't seen the new show yet.

Wow $485 for a male-- wonder what the female price would be? ( not for neuter --the female version can't remember what it is called).

Sounds like you have a very good dog. He sure is a cutie to :).

Well Dog gone the IRS. They should have plenty of time now with tax season being so long ago.

How are you liking this weather? Sure feels good on my old bones. Was gonna go to lake for the cardboard boat races but now thinking maybe stay home and finish flower beds-- well weeding anyway. I hate to have to park miles away and then have to wrestle with 100's of people. Ya, I'm a real people person LOL. Husband is going to have para-transit pick him up and bring him home. Sure a nice system. Bus does not run here so he meets at the church parking lot about 1/4 mile away. Works nice on these sunny days.

Hope you have a great 4th, 3rd, and 2nd. Ya, holiday weekend :).

It was all the extras that added that price up. It was $153 for the neuter, $75 for extra skin to be removed (since he's older it was highly suggested), $35 for laser surgery (quicker healing), heartworm testing & meds for 6 mths, toe nails clipped & flea meds....this is where hubby messed up. I told him we needed flea meds (and figured he'd pick up one box for 3 months), he thought I wanted a years worth & that ran over $100 by itself. He also got rabies & parvo shots for $32. So it just ran the bill up.....still shocking to say the least!

IRS....ugh, they offer this substantial adoption credit but are dragging their feet in giving people their money. They are going over every case to make sure it's all on the up & up. People are receiving letters months into it asking for documentation they already submitted, but since it changed depts....not all the paperwork went with it. Not very efficient & makes them look a bit sloppy in their work. So far we have not received any letters, but it could still happen. Our paperwork is a little easier to go thru since we adopted thru foster care which automatically qualified us.....others are trying to get reimbursed for adoption expenses. We sent in the adoption decree which showed name changes for the girls, Social Security stating the girls were disabled at birth, IFSP for both girls & the adoption agreement that states the girls are special needs. Don't have anything else we could send them....so hopefully everything is clear & they can get us our money. Its been 10 1/2 wks since they received it.......time to send us our check!!

I'm not big on crowds either & have to be careful when at DL.....the nice thing about DL is I know where to escape to gather my thoughts. I did have an anxiety attack on the girls trip but I believe that was brought on being with a lot of new people, being away from the kids & hubby.....but I survived.

Its great you have a transport group for your hubby to get out!!!

You have a wonderful holiday weekend & yay for the sunshine...feels so good!!!!

Yes I do. I'm going to my mom's best friend's house. I am also going to see her sisters and their kids. The trip is getting closer. :woohoo:

Benny is so adorable! congrats on a new family member!

Thanx Sid.....we're all pretty happy with him!!!

:dance3:

Well Derek is now officially moved out too...... :sad2: Very happy for the boys, but I sure miss having them around!!!

Putting all the kids toys into their old room (which is the entire space over a double car garage) to use as a playroom........hoping that will somewhat contain the mess.....lol (wishful thinking) :lmao:

Got a sitter for tonight & going out singing!!! It's the one thing that keeps me grounded & helps with the stress & mood....looking forward to it!

Nothing tomorrow & then Mike's home on the 4th (total shocker there!)......spend the day playing with the kids & dog & then going to my brothers for a huge BBQ & fireworks!! Looking forward to spending time with the family & even Derek thought he might come by for a bit!
