1. Will it be too scary for my 3yr old?
2. Do the decorations take away the beauty of the ship?
3. What are the prizes for the adult costume contests?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

1. There was nothing scary out, my 4 year old is scared of everything and she was fine. Jack and sally were out late one night, we were already in bed.
2. The port holes has pumpkin face decals, the atrium tree had pumpkins hanging from it. Didn't notice much else.
3. No idea.

Only your 3 yr old can say, but it's a very mild affair. Some adult costumes may be scary. Many folks wear their costumes to dinner that night.
2. Do the decorations take away the beauty of the ship?
IMHO, no. Well done and changes as the cruise progresses.
3. What are the prizes for the adult costume contests?
We received a small Disney/Halloween theme trophy, about 4" tall. A very fun time. The MC for the contest was great. Some of the costumes were incredible. People take this very seriously.

1.) Nah, its not scary at all. Actually, depending on where you are on the ship you may not even know its "halloween on the high seas"

2.) I didn't think the decorations took away from anything. The ships are still beautiful in that old nautical style. There's a pumpkin tree in the lobby and a few window clings but thats about it.

3.) Don't know about prizes, didn't attend that party.

Not to hijack the thread but when will they post which sailings are Halloween on the High Seas for 2016 or are they not doing that any longer?

I've been wondering that too! Though we have cruised in October before, it was before all the Halloween festivities were added to the ships

We won two years in a row with different costumes. The first year they did it (2013) we got a nice little gift pack that included a Haunted Mansion Mickey. The next year we got the trophy shown in a previous post.

1. no
2. not at all!
3. trophy shown above & 2 copies of the haunted mansion (2015)

Its not scary at all. Maybe the evening story time by the tree but that's not even really scary. To be honest, I think it is still a work in progress. The trick or treating spots were a bit random.

I'll be the dissenter. YES.

They cover up big portholes that let you see the outside (or the inside from outside) with garish and ridiculous jackolantern things.

Does it cover everything? no. Can you ignore it? Yes.

But does it change the aesthetic of the area? Yes.

And the pumpkin tree is just WEIRD. Ugly when it's empty, and usually I just avoid the area so I rarely see it when it's full, so it's wasted on me.

I like Halloween but we haven't booked these for the activities, and it's just a useless extra to me. I will try to avoid them in the future.

Our Dream sailing was the first Halloween on the High Seas cruise for the season last year and we set sail on September 7. I believe they posted the dates around May/June but I can't remember for sure.

in 2015, the first Halloween Cruise was the Fantasy leaving on September 5th. We were on the Dream cruise leaving on September 7th and it was the first Halloween cruise on that ship. We are cruising this year on the Dream leaving on September 5th. I have asked the Concierge folks a couple of times when the first Halloween cruise will be and as of 10 days ago, they have not released that date. we are hoping it is 9/5/16

I'm going to be on the Magic this year during one of the Halloween on the High Seas cruises. It's one of the NYC departures which is why we booked it. I'm a purist and hate holiday decorations on most things, so we'll try to avoid any Halloween themed events.

On these Halloween cruises, do they have Pirates In the Caribbean nights still? Or does a Halloween theme replace this, or any of the usual themes on the cruise? Thanks in advance! :thanks:

While there are random Halloween decorations (mostly in the atrium area), the Halloween activities (trick or treating, costume contests, etc) are on one designated day. There is still a Pirate night on a separate designated night.
