Happy 250 days to Halloween!

This holiday is a huge deal to us, the biggest of the year, and yes something we start counting down to in February. We're thinking of doing a Halloween on the High Seas Western Caribbean, with MNSSHP on either side - so 1 night in the park at the Halloween party, cruise the next morning, come back, Halloween party that night, fly home the next morning.

Of course, this is all assuming the dates work out when they announce them next month. ;)

Some questions:
Has anyone tried this?

Did the Halloween on the High Seas have enough Halloween for you? I'm wondering if it's more than just the few things listed on the cruise page? For example special meals, in room decorating, shore excursions, etc.

And totally not Halloween related - we have a medically restricted diet, on our past Disney cruise ships there was one restaurant where we could order ala carte/off a menu (not a buffet with cross contamination and not the main dining rooms where meals could not be customized unless you ordered a day in advance), is that still true? We're hoping to go on the Fantasy.

No specific shore excursions that I know of. Nightly Halloween activity around 7 PM is what I remember.

We have done 4 Halloween on the High Seas cruises. It is fairly tame as far as decorations go. There is a really cool pumpkin tree in the atrium that "grows" each day and Halloween window clings on the porthole windows. There are no special meals that I remember. One night they have an event where kids (and adults!) can dress up and the crew hands out candy in the various venues. I remember a fairly large event in the atrium where characters came out and had a big party.
For me and my friends kids the event not to miss was the Nightmare Before Christmas Sing and Scream in 4D! Really fun! It started at 10:30pm on Monday night if I remember correctly.

I have been to MNSSHP The night before a Cruise, and I thought that was a fun way to start. I've not done it with a Halloween party on the end of the cruise. The cruise itself is Halloween theme, but it is not over-the-top. There is no special menu for Halloween, there are no special decorations in the room itself although the ship will have some decorations. There are no special Halloween shore excursions. There are some activities on board related to Halloween including trick-or-treating and costume contests. You might check Scott's DCL blog to view navigators from previous Halloween cruises. http://disneycruiselineblog.com/personal-navigators/

There are two adult-only, extra-fee restaurants on the Fantasy, Palo and Remy. I do not have a restrictive diet, but others have reported being able to have meals modified at those two places easily.

I did Halloween on the High Seas but it was also a Marvel cruise, and a WDW excursion cruise. So there was a lot going on. Basically the Halloween stuff was one day, but there were a few decorations about the ship. So from my experience the Halloween aspect was fairly minor. But if it was a Halloween on the High Seas cruise only, it might be different.

We did the HOTHS Western Fantasy and my daughter was a bit disappointed. She LOVES Halloween and would have loved it to have had many more Halloween activities. Our Halloween night was actual Halloween and it was extremely crowded. Thankfully we did MNSSHP the night before the cruise so she was kind of ok with it. I did purchase the DCL Halloween decorations for our room which she really liked. There was a Day of the Dead excursion in Cozumel that is probably about as Halloween oriented as the excursions get. We were the final HOTHS cruise of the season and Castaway Cay had their Christmas decorations up when we got there, which kind of ended any Halloween atmosphere.

We're on the Oct 27th Fantasy sailing so we sail OVER Halloween too and I'm excited to hear that CC might have Christmas decorations (we will be there November 2), excited that we might be able to 'celebrate' two holidays on one cruise haha!
