Halloween/November Trip

It's been along time since I last posted, but I'm super excited because we're going to try and head to Disneyland at the end of October! It's been way too long and I'm ready to go!

So, my question is, what's everyone's opinion on going from October 31 - Nov 4? I was wondering if that week would be more busy than normal because Halloween is on a Monday this year. We were thinking of spending Halloween at the party and then the next 3 days in the park. Our last day would be spent at Legoland for my 10 year olds birthday.

It's been over 4 years since we've been back and I have no idea what crowds are like, especially since finishing California Adventure and with the celebration this year.

Any thoughts? Thank you!

MHP on Halloween itself usually/always sells out, so if you want to attend that night, make sure to get your tickets early.

I think being prepared for the parks being a lot more crowded than 4 years ago is a good idea. We first went in 2012 before Cars Land opened and saw a steady increase the following two visits, especially DCA which was very empty our first visit. From what I hear the 60th increased crowds as well although the official celebration will be over in early September. I think just getting there early in the morning, regardless of when you go, will make for a more enjoyable visit.

I don't think that Halloween itself will impact the crowds in the parks for the rest of the week, but as noted, the parks have been getting busier and busier it seems, so I would still go expecting busy crowds. I haven't heard about much in terms of conventions or activities for that time period (yet), but we're still pretty far away from October (I try to track events and activities that I hear about on the 2016 Calendar thread).

MHP is a lot of fun, but if you do want to go to the Halloween night party, you should consider purchasing the tickets in advance. Last year, tickets for Halloween night sold out in early-August (it was the first night to sell out). Halloween night is usually one of the first nights to sell out.

The only other thing to consider with the dates you have selected (Mon to Fri) is that they may only present fireworks on the weekends (Fri to Sun, plus during MHP). Historically, DLR only presents fireworks on weekends during the non-peak season. This year, they've been presenting fireworks nightly, but no one knows if that schedule will continue after the end of the 60th Anniversary Celebration (truthfully, no one knows whether nightly fireworks will continue in March, April or May - traditionally considered non-peak season except for Spring Break - but it seems likely because they've presented them nightly so far this year). WoC is normally nightly regardless of the time of year, but PtN's schedule is also unknown.

Also, during the dates you've selected, the parks will be transitioning from Halloween to the Holidays. So some attractions may be closed to have their holiday overlays installed (e.g., It's a Small World and Jungle Cruise).

Thank you so much for the replies. Everyone has given me a few things to think about. We would really like to go to the party on Halloween since that is my kids' second most favorite holiday! I'll watch for tickets to go on sale.

figment_jii - I'll be watching your calendar thread to see if anything comes up during our week. If we're going to go, it will have to be that week since it's my husband's semester break. Our next option is waiting until the end of February 2017, but don't want to deal with having it too close to possible Spring breaks.

Of course, this is assuming we can get flights for a decent price considering we're coming from Hawaii. For the last year, they've been awfully high into LA. Even San Diego has been running a bit steep.

Thanks again!
