We went to Halloween Horror Nights last night and I hate to say it but it was the worst one we have been to yet. This was #6 for us. We started going in 2004. I look forward to this all year (love it here from October-December) and was really disappointed in the scare zones, houses and Bill and Ted. Hopefully they blow us away next year for the 20th! We still had fun but were out of there by 9:30pm. We went to The Kitchen (at HRH) for dinner then headed over. Here is how I would rate the houses:
Leave It To Cleaver-This one actually had a story line and good scenes. The scare actors were not just jumping out at you but actually acting. Funny and gory. HOT in the whole house.
Frankenstein-Good scenes, good sets, looked like a movie, good sounds with the monster yelling, scare actors were really tall!
Saw-DH though this was really lacking and could have had a lot more, but I thought it was pretty well done. The only thing is we missed a lot of the scenes/traps going off due to timing. I wanted to use our Express Pass to go back (we only waited 5 minutes the 1st time through so did not use our EP.) The EXPRESS line was 30 minutes at 9:15!!! They totally oversold the pass. People were really getting annoyed in the line too so we got out of there before there was a riot

The regular line was 90 minutes.
Chucky-fun, seemed short, they put some thought into this one.
The Wolfman-They spent $100,000 + on this. Really?! The most expensive house ever built for HHN? Seriously?! The end had a good scene but again- timing! If you missed it (DH did not see the Wolfman fly down- he was busy ducking like the guy told him to) it was like-ah that was lame. All Nite Die-In, Dead Silence, Psychoscareapy, Scary Tales, even The Halllow were all better than this.
Silver Screams-there were about 4 scare actors in the house when we wnet through! Really! WTH were those chairs in the corners? Silly. Could have been so much better!!! All Nite Die-In was so much better in 2006.
The Spawning-Pretty silly (egg scene was good) but not as bad as...
Dracula-dark, a waste of a soundstage-nothing but a dark stone wall maze. Looked like masks and not makeup. Speaking of that...
What was up with so many masks? You could see the actors faces underneath! I go to HHN for the awesome makeup and houses that look like you stepped onto a movie set. I did not get that all all this year. Frankenstein's monster looked really good. Wolfman, the vampires, the soldiers in War of the Living Dead, etc.. all looked fake! Usually I am blown away by the makeup. The creepy masks fit in LITC though.
I remember when the entrance really set the stage for the night. HHN 14 in 2004 it was awesome when you walked into IOA. The thought they put into that entrance was amazing. there used to be stilt walkers, tons smoke/fog, many more scareactors, motorcycles, platforms with fire shooting out of them, loud music, etc. etc., I guess all the parks are really hurting. Now we get Containment when you walk in-sorry very lame.
There is no excuse for the Express Pass line to be 1/2 an hour at 9:15pm either. I have not seen that 6 years. Ever.
Holding out hope for next year!!!
