Last year, I believe that the non-discounted HHN tickets were $69.99, regardless of the night. However, if you had a day ticket, you could purchase a 'Stay and Scream' ticket at a reduced price. Those prices last year were $29.99, Sunday thru Thursday nights; $49.99, Friday night; and $59.99, Saturday night. .

what happens if you are late & arrive after the opening of HHN & you have a regular park ticket, do they scan your park ticket PLUS the stay & scream ticket to let you into the park?

(wondering , because we might need just a one day tix for people we are going with , but don't want to use it up if we are late)

i really really don't want to attend on a saturday, but have no choice, so its either that or not go...... which isn't a choice, right?

If you have an AP, you won't need a S & S ticket...there is no actual S & S ticket...people really get confused on this. S & S is when you stay in the park after closing but you can purchase a HHN ticket for a discount if you're doing that.

You will probably be better off just getting a discounted ticket with your AP instead of the S & S discount. I wouldn't fool with the IOA S & S area if at all possible. You will be released later than the S & S folks at the Studios.

When the park closes and you need to head to the holding area, they will scan your HHN ticket for that night and you're pretty much done.

Passholders have the greatest advantage since we can go into the parks whenever we want w/o having to worry about buying a day ticket.

Once the main gate closes at 5pm, no one is allowed in until HHN starts...usually around 6:30pm. If you aren't in the park by 4:30 or so, you stand a good chance of being forced to wait outside with the general public...which is NOT fun.

If you have an AP, instead of the stay and scream ticket, you'd purchase the HHN ticket that's available for AP holders. You could order these tickets online or over phone (what I did), and you had to give your AP number for verification. Metro West mentioned what last year's prices were with the AP, so I've quoted his post below my response.

As for using the HHN ticket and the day ticket on different days, I don't know that answer. I suspect that if you receive two tickets (one for the day ticket and one for HHNs), you could use them on different days. The HHN ticket is stamped with the specific date that was requested at time of ordering and is only good for that date, but I don't think that the day ticket is stamped.

One thing that I just thought of is that Universal had a major ticket reprice earlier this year. What impact that will have on the Stay and Scream ticket is anyone's guess.

Here are the Premier and Preferred AP rates from 2009:
The first three Fridays: $29.99 + tax
The first three Saturdays: $39.99 + tax
Sunday-Thursday: $29.99 + tax
Friday: $49.99 + tax
Saturday: $59.99 + tax

Frequent Fear Pass: $54.99 + tax

if someone is in the park that day, they can buy the hhn ticket prior to closing of the park.

many peeps decide at the last minute to make a full night of it due to the low price for hhn.

I know that but when you refer to a HHN ticket as a "Stay & Scream" ticket most people assume you need three tickets to enter...and you only need two. We have this problem every year and have to explain umteen times that there is no actual Stay & Scream ticket in addition to the HHN ticket when in actuality it's only a discounted HHN ticket. This will be my seventh year for HHN and this happens every year on the boards.

I understand about the "Add on" as that is what we normally purchase ahead of time direct from UO when tickets go on sale.

We purchased our 14 day park tickets for US/IOA from Virgin when we booked our trip.

So if I`m reading you correctly Todd and macraven, you can buy a S&S ticket on the day in the park instead of having to decide weeks and weeks ahead what nights you want to go to HHN? Or is that only if you have an AP which we don`t,

Carole...you can purchase the discounted HHN ticket (AKA Stay & Scream) that day since you would already be in the park and therefore eligible for S & S. Does that make sense?

I agree that it can be confusing with Universal using "Stay and Scream" for both their add-on HHN ticket and holding area. By the way, people should buy three tickets: The day ticket, the HHN ticket, and the HHN Express Pass.

And now that I've caused further confusion with that statement, let me clarify to those who are unfamiliar with HHN:

• You only need one ticket for HHNs, the HHN ticket. With just this ticket, you'll have to wait at the entrance for HHN to begin and fight the crowd when entering the park for HHNs. I've never experienced this but I've heard its no fun!
• If you want to take advantage of the Stay and Scream waiting area, you'll need both a day ticket and a HHN ticket. Be in the park prior to 4:30pm so that you don't get stuck outside. And it doesn't matter what type of day ticket or HHN ticket you have.
• Last is the HHN Express Pass. Totally optional but completely worth it if you can afford it most of the time. However getting this ticket can be viewed as a gamble. Sometimes, HHN can be so empty, that the Express Pass turns out to be a bad investment. Other times, the Express Pass can sell out early, as in a month in advance.

The official dates will not be released until this summer but you can get a good idea by last year's dates. Here is my guess:

September 9/24 & 9/25, 9/30
October 10/1-10/3, 10/7-10/10, 10/14-10/17, 10/21-10/24 and 10/28-10/31

There will be a Wednesday thrown in there sometime in October...probably 10/20 this which is Hell Week...since the local schools are out that week.

Wow, I didn't know kids are out of school the week of the 20th! Is this a local Florida thing?? Other than Columbus Day, the 11th, I can't imagine why school would be off.

We're trying to figure out the best time to go - meaning, the shortest lines! - so I thought the week of the 17th might be ok, but if school is out, No Way!! I've been reading along here with all the posts and it seems there's no safe time to go!

Any suggestions for the best time? My arches thank you in advance!

Checking the school calendars for the upcoming school year, the only public school system that is off that Friday (10/22) is Osceola County. Orange County isn't off at all that week and Seminole is only off on Monday (10/18). Sunday (10/17) and Thursday (10/21) will definately be nights to stay away...Fridays are always crowded and more expensive. If you have to go that week, I would suggest going Thursday night (10/21) but you will probably need to purchase the Express Plus Pass for that night and if you can take advantage of Stay & Scream, you would be very wise to do so. If you can attend an earlier week, that would be even better but if not, Thursday night would be the time to go...but it will be crowded.

You're right though...HHN has gradually become more and more crowded over the years and going on a slow night doesn't really happen any longer. It still seems the earlier in the month you can go, the better.

Thanks so much for all the info! It sure helps to look at these boards- I would have had no idea about the school schedule if you all weren't chatting about it!

Last time I went to HHN, they were still building IOA- I think it was '97 or '98 maybe. Did computers even exist back then?? I do remember that we did the Stay & Scream, and it was so worth it! Plus, it was such a treat hanging out and watching everything transform into a big spooky haunted park!!
