I was at Walgreens yesterday to pick up some medicine for my dad and there was a whole aisle of candy!! I said out loud, "Surely this can't be Halloween candy already!" Then I looked closely at the boxes the candy was in and they had spiders and webs and jack-o-lanters, etc. on it. So it was Halloween candy!!

I'm still in July - even though I know it turned to August on Sat. But Halloween!!! :scared1:

Budget tip: Don't buy your Halloween candy now because you will just eat it all before Halloween and have to buy new!

OMG!!! This is hilarious. Do you live in my neighborhood? Because I was at Walgreens yesterday, and noted the whole aisle of Halloween candy. In fact, it was so out of place, that I couldn't register it as Halloween candy - I thought it was some crazy back to school thing.

Then, at the register, they had the candy corn bags and I thought for a moment they were left over from last year, and I wondered why they weren't cheaper!!!!

It's early, yo.

That's exactly how I felt! It was so out of place that I couldn't register it as Halloween candy either! I also was trying to figure out how it fit in with back to school stuff! I think maybe it was because of the location. If you continued walking past the school supplies, it was in the set of aisles right after that. So sort of a continuation!

Even worse, I was in Hobby Lobby 2 weeks ago and they had all their Christmas trees and decorations out! Not just a few, but aisles and aisles! (didn't see any candy though! :goodvibes)

Thank-You! I saw Halloween,Thanksgiving and Christmas stuff out and on sale already at several stores!!!! I thought I lost a couple of months, but then I heard my DD's fighing behind me and thought " Oh silly, it's still summer, of COURSE holiday stuff would be on DISPLAY and on SALE"!!!

Yesterday I was at and observed:

Walgreens: Full aisle of Halloween stuff
Pottery Barn: Fall decorations, including HWeen, TGiving all in place and Christmas stuff partially up.:confused3

The homogination of the holidays personally drives me up a wall:headache:

The older I get, the more I like to savor each season and holiday. Time runs on too quickly anyhow :hippie:

Oh, I was so surprised by our visit to Hobby Lobby last week. When we drove up, DS3 said that he wanted to look at the big Christmas Trees because he remembers doing so last year. I told him that I was sorry, but there wouldn't be any Christmas trees to look at. My surprise when we walked in and DS yelled "Christmas trees!". I turned around and there they were. They were still putting some of them up but they had the all the lights, ornaments, garland, ect, already out on displays - just has many as they have the weekend after Thanksgiving. It's insane!

I was in Michael's 2 weeks ago and they had a full aisle of Halloween out. I couldn't believe it......

I was in Target last night ... for school supplies ... and there were the kids' Halloween T-shirts.

I guess I have a little less issue with Michael's/Hobby Lobby putting stuff out early because it takes longer to make crafts, but it's getting ridiculous. My dad and I have a competition to see who can spot the first (non-craft) Christmas ad of the year, usually by about Labor Day.

It's just hard to think Christmas when it's 114 here ... :cool2:

The way I look at it. I think we will get to a point that they start to put out stuff SOOOOO early that it will actually be just in time for the previous year's holiday. ha ha ha.

(I'm not sure I explained that right, but, for example, if they put up this year's halloween stuff much earlier, it would have been perfect timing for LAST YEAR's halloween.)

Me too!! I was a little excited when I walked in because I could smell the cinnamon and saw all the autumn decorations (my fave time of the year) then a few aisles over all the Christmas stuff :scared1: I thought What the Heck!!! And you are so right, there were aisles and aisles. I love Christmas but this is crazy.

But the things at Michael's weren't crafts, they were just decorations and ready to use. LOL

Oh my Hobby Lobby has had Christmas items out since the end of June.

CRAZINESS!!!!!!!!!!

I totally understand where you guys are coming from...this drives me crazy every year! The only stores that I feel are allowed to do it are the craft stores; i.e Hobby Lobby, Michaels. You have to think of all the people that actually do tons of Christmas crafts for gifts or craft fairs etc. They need an early start, I still have a hard time looking at all of it but I get it. Any other store is just not allowed in my opinion. Although there are people like my SIL...she finishes Christmas shopping the week AFTER Christmas for the following year(budget friendly I know but I just can't do it), she puts her fake tree up right after Halloween I swear, and Santa doesn't even wait until Christmas day some years in their house!:confused3
