Today I went and bought Halloween candy for DD's youth group project. Every kid was supposed to bring 4 bags of different candies. No gum allowed (figures, cause that's cheap).

It was $15.00 - and I bought it all on sale. And that's not even for US! I will buy bulk candy to give out on Halloween - at least it's a bit cheaper.

Anyone else finding Halloween to be an increasingly expensive holiday?

Does every child have to bring 4 bags? That is a lot of candy!

I saw the little miniature candy bars at Wal-Mart yesterday for $2 a bag.

I'll trade GG.. we've spent over 50 on batteries so far..lol. and we have four more nights of haunted h ouser to go:)

I swear costcos bumps the price @ holiday time...

We bought ours at Sam's Club this year, which was a great thing for us to do! We have over 400 kids who come to our house each year (we live right in the middle of town on a street with many other houses, so our street gets hit the most and we are the first house! :p )

Each year, we do something neat for the kids who come. This year, DH's nephew is going to be sitting inside a candy crane machine with a scary mask, just pretending to be fake, so when the child uses the machine and gets a candy (which will be incredibly simple as each kid will have no problem winning), when they reach in, DH's nephew will grab them! It should be fun! :) For that, we are giving out full size candy bars!

For the little kids who are too scared to try the crane, we will give them 2 of the fun size candies! :)

Halloween is so much fun and the kids in the neighborhood really love our house. DH is a DJ, so he plays all kinds of scary music all night long, which can be heard for streets over! :p He also plays the usual Monster Mash, Ghostbusters, ect music. It is a lot of fun! I can't wait until Sunday! :)

Anyway, back to what I was saying (sidetracked there!:p )...we bought all our candy at Sam's Club and saved a lot of money, since we needed so much! :)

Gosh, I was just at Target and I thought their candy was very reasonable. Several varieties at around $1.50 a bag, and several for about $2 a bag (and not cheapie yucky kind).

Walgreens also had almost all varieties for $1.50 a bag, incl Snickers, M and M's, etc.

Honestly, I was never surprised by the price of candy until I bought it with my employee discount. (We get it at cost + 5%.) Holy cow are we making a huge profit off candy!!

Tell me about it. I get the stuff we like too like butterfingers, milky ways, and snickers. I paid 2 for $5 today. I had to get 8 bags and I hope that is enough! I could get the cheaper stuff but I know my kids hate the cheap candy themselves and end up tossing it. I figure this will at least get eaten. Even if it is us doing the eating!

Guess I'm feeling extra lucky now. I hit a sale and had a coupon today, so I got 4 bags of Halloween candy for a total of $5.00. It's good kinds too. Snickers, Nestles' Crunch, M&Ms. :p
