Halloween 2011. Oct 29th on the Magic

Thanks for the update, Amanda! Glad to hear that things are moving in the right direction! Keep us posted and hugs and pixie dust for Annette! :goodvibes

Happy Friday, everyone! :cool1:

Oh, PS...DH and I completed our open water scuba certification!!! woo-hoo! I'm really pretty proud of myself, especially considering what a bad experience I had on the first day! I can't say that I really enjoyed it, as I was still nervous and really struggled with controlling my buoyancy, but I passed off every skill and went as deep as 45 feet, so I'm feeling pretty good! :thumbsup2 I think once we get out in that warm, clear Caribbean water (without the stress off passing off skills to an instructor), I'll relax a bit more and have some fun! That's my plan anyway. :rotfl:

Sorry Annette and I have been MIA for the last week. It has been one of the worst weeks. I posted last week that i needed a pick me up well let me tell you about the week weve had and its not anywhere near the end of the drama yet.

Last week Annette had some back pain so she took some OTC med and thought it would go away. On Wednesday she called in sick to work at 12:30 because she could not put on her socks, I was working late and she called me to come home because she could not get out of bed she was in so much pain. So i took her to Hosptial #1 they said it was siatica(sp) gave her an injection of steriods and sent her home with steriods and pain killers telling her that it would be better in a few days. Friday came and she now had extreme cold feet, 15 out of 10 pain and cramping of her calfs. So we went to Hospital #2. They tried to take xrays but the pain was to great and they started to give her pain meds. A couple of hours later and alot of pain meds they did a couple xrays, blood work and a doppler. They said everything looked fine and gave her different pain medication and told her she would be better in a few days and to give it time. Over the weekend she continued to get worse. Monday night when i got home her pain was even worse, her feet were blue and she could not wiggle her toes. So we went to hospital #3 which she is still in. They took more xrays, did an MRI and she is waiting to be scheduled for surgery. She has a ruptured disc in her back and stenosis. They say that if she has the surgery she may have the feeling back in her feet within 24 hours. When I left her at 11:00 tonight she has absoultley no control of her feet what so ever and the only way they move is if you pick them up and move them.
We spoke to the resident for the surgeon last night and she said she should be able to go but they are not sure until after they do the surgery. If it gets any worse before the surgery she may have other complications. Needless to say I cant sleep and I'm so worried about her.
You never know how much you depend on someone to be around until they are not. I dont know why being home alone is bothering me so much because she is suppose to be in Minnesota this week at a corporate meeting so she would not be here anyway.
Thanks for letting me ramble, now back to happy things.

God bless...i will pray...that sound scary...I hope they find an answer

OMG I swear I must have updated this FE list...and I still missed some cabin #s.

Acourtwdw: your cabin is 2642 still?

I don't have cabin #s...

Denise, thanks for letting me know about the disney rewards. I thought thats how it worked but couldn't remember.

Amanda, wish Annette well for us as well. I hope everything works out for her. I don't think you'd have any problems getting a wheelchair in a cat 9, but as long as they have handicap rooms available and you get a note from the doctor for them, I'd say they'd get her one, that way it would be a little roomier if she'd need it. It wouldn't hurt to ask.

Summer, good job on the diving certification. Did you go with PADI? Davids first open water was in Jamaica at 90ft and strong currents, they had to tow them in on rafts and while he was hanging on, he lost his expensive underwater camera that was straped to his arm(the strap broke). Who knows where it is..lol That was in 06. I think you said you were diving in GC? I know he said that a wall dive is difficult for first timers and that he even had trouble in Cozumel a few years ago with a wall dive. I don't dive with him, but I've seen pics and it would be amazing! You'll have a great time!

Welcome Bill, we also will put in a gift for your fe. We to are waiting for a room assignment. We have a veranda gty also. Heres hopeing for pixie dust for us both!

Hows everyones weather? We may get frost here in WV. The high tomorrow is suppose to be 46 and Sunday 39, and to think it was nearly 75 yesterday! Crazy weather! I need to get my flu shot. Last year I didn't get one and was sick the entire time we were in Hawaii. That was one year ago tomorrow when we arrived. I'm not taking a chance on getting sick this year.

Well gotta go cook dinner, dh will be home from work soon.

Tammy

Thanks for all the wishes! I know that after all of this a trip to WDW/DCL is exactly what I will need.

Amanda moved us to stateroom 6000. Its handicapped accesible. Even though I don't want to have to use a wheelchair, I think that it is better to be over prepared.

I cannot wait for the next 27 days to be over and our vacation to start!

Annette

Annette, glad that things are looking up a little....hang in there,

:grouphug: and pixie dust to you...for a speedy recovery

Annette,

Good to see you on the boards. I hope you recover quickly. I have a herniated disk between L4 and L5 and that has caused me so much pain but not as much as it sounds like its caused you. Take good care of yourself and we hope to see you on the cruise soon! :thumbsup2 29 more days!

I read that the Wonder is celebrating Halloween on Sunday the 30th, the night that they board. They recieved a letter from DCL telling them to be prepared. Has it been announced when our ship will be celebrating Halloween?

Happy Saturday! Four weeks to go! Didn't think we would ever get here and now time can just slow down a tad.

Annette - hugs and pixie dust from us up here in Cadillac for a speedy recovery.

Amanda - hugs to you too, and your folks as it is so hard to watch and wait.

It is a tropical 37 degrees here this morning and headed to 50. But at least it isn't raining (or heaven forbid snowing) and we are in for a bit of some warmer weather next week, might even make it back to 70! I keep trying to lay things out for the cruise but I end up wearing them again. The packing list is complete at this point so it will all come together.

Take care and enjoy your day!

I'm not sure what the weather is here since I haven't been outside since Monday. Amanda said that we were having a frost warning for last night.

I can't believe that we are only 4 weeks out! So excited! Focusing on vacation helps me take my mind of what is happening on Monday.

Have a great weekend everyone :)

Happy October 1st!!

wow just 4 weeks....cant believe it....I only have 19.5 "working" days left before we sail. I wanted Friday off, but someone beat me to it, but the boss is letting me take 1/2 day off...which will work...when I leave work, my plan is to head and get my mani and pedi:thumbsup2 Then when I get home straighten the house and then work on all last minute packing.

Bill: we received a notice that they were going to do Halloween on the 29th, trick or treating at least....havent heard anything since.

only 27 days :dance3::dance3: ummmm can you tell that I am excited about this cruise....??

Nothing much else going on here
have a nice day

Oh, I just counted too! I have 15 work days left before the cruise! I was able to get Friday off and I am going to get my hair done in the morning and a mani/pedi right after and then I'm catching my flight to Miami to spend the night at my parents. Then we will drive up to the port the next morning after doing a short stop to get a small case of water and things we like to pick at that they may not have on board.

Really, is that offical from Disney?

Really, is that offical from Disney?[/QUOTE]

I called Disney yesterday and spoke to a friend of mine that just started working for DCL and they both stated that Disney has not made a decision yet about when the Halloween events will take place. They said that the official word at the moment is that the information will be released NLT Oct. 22nd.

I was very disappointed with this as we will already be on our way to WDW and was hoping to know exactly what to pack. I'm going to really be disappointed if they do Halloween on the 30th as that is the night my husband and I were going to do Palo.

Guess we will all just have to wait and see.

Desiree

Got an email from Disney a few months back, they said trick or treating on the 29th?:confused3 so not sure what they will be doing, this could be all switched around.

Denise

As disappointing as it is that Halloween will not be on Halloween. My happy thought is how cool will it be for Stevie....(errrr I mean Mario of Mario Bros fame) to get some candy directly from Mickey Mouse. Hopefully that will make his summer experiences all the better.

Ok, opinions on Key West...Which is better the Conch Train or the The Trolley?

Good morning all! Well, the inlaws have been here and gone and the baby shower last night was fun. It was a shame we didn't get a lot of people, but we had fun. I jokingly told dd Stephie that we should have a stripper. About half way through the party we had 6 teenage boys show up willing to entertain. LOL. We fed them the extra food and sent them on their way but they were a hoot!

Annette I am thinking about you and praying that all will go well tomorrow. It 's so great that you could get on here and let us know how you are doing.

Today we are going to church and then it is all about relaxing since this is the last weekend I have off until the cruise. I think that I will work on fe things and start my packing list. It's time to start writing things down and making sure everyone has what they need for the cruise. We have decided on the Halloween costumes--Scott will be the mad hatter, I will be the red queen and Stephie will be alice.. Zac on the other hand will be Ness. This is a character from one of his video games. Maybe some of the kids will know who he is, LOL!

We have an appointment for Stephie at childrens hospital for a check up on the 10th. She is in remission from Hodgkins Lymphoma. You would never know she was so sick a few years a go. We are expecting a good check up since she is feeling great, but it will be a 3 hour trip there and testing all day then 3 hours back. At least she can help with the driving now. After that day it will all be down hill to our trip.:thumbsup2

Have a great day all and I hope you all who are waiting for room assignments here soon!

Good morning all. Been quite the morning today. Phone rang at 9:00 and I nearly jumped out of my skin, clueless why but it was just oldest DS offering to pick up DH on their way home from Flint. Gads. So, one good turn deserves another so they are staying for dinner.

I have half the house vacuumed (need to finish that up), gotta clean the kitchen and I guess I best get the chicken out for dinner.

Trick or Treating - I must not have kept my letter nor did doing a search find it in our thread (I know it is posted) but I didn't think they said it would be on the 29th, just that they were doing it on the cruise of the 22nd and the 29th. But, I read that so long ago that maybe I do not remember correctly. But, I do have a friend on the Magic now so if I can remember to call her this afternoon maybe she can ask the CD if he/she has any further info. Actually, I just left her a message now so I don't have to do it later. I will share what I hear when she returns next week.

Postcard exchange - there are 11 of us. I will get the list out at some point today, waiting on a few cabin numbers.
