Halloween 2008 at the Fort

Yup! We are members. I need to make one of those Disboard Member signs.

Halloween was fun. The kids and the dogs loved making friends at the dog park!
We went to the MNSSHP on Halloween. It was really crowded though. I think they are letting in more people than they use to in the past. I think next year we will do what you did...go to the MNSSHP on the night before Halloween and do our Trsk or Treating at the fort. I like how trick or treating was "official" this year. I liked how people could put up signs if they were participating. So were ther alot of people giving out candy? Do you think my kids (9, 10 7 11) would be satisfied with the amount of trick or treating campers??

Yeah, we are headed back for Thanksgiving too!
Bringing Callie, Sprout and Angler too! Also have New years booked.
Hey, last year, didn't ya'll go to the DISNEY GAMES? I think it was you and your family. If so, how did you find out about when it was again?? I promised the kids we would follow your path next year :cool2:

In a word, YES! The trick or treating was amazing. I couldn't beleive how many people were handing out candy! I didn't see that many offical signs...most people just sat at the end of their site near the road with a huge bucket of candy. My girls loved it and we can't wait for next year! :thumbsup2

I agree with avoiding MNSSHP on Halloween night. When I called to get my tickets to the 10/30 party a week or so before our trip, the castmember told me that they had just re-opened ticket sales for the 10/31 party (which had been "sold-out"). I interpreted this to mean that they just decided to make a few more bucks by overselling the event. Forget that!

The Trick or Treaters that we saw coming around our loop later in the evening had big hauls of candy! I am sure your kids would be more than happy with the quantity.

Yes, the TCD gang was at WDW for the taping of the Disney Channel Games this year. We found out about the concert through the passholders' website. Passholders were able to send an e-mail requesting free tickets to the concert. As for the taping, most of our info came from a Blog written by a columnist for the Orlando Sentinel. Also, there was a lot of information (and misinformation) on the Disboards. Word is that they will definitely be taping at WDW Wide World of Sports Complex in 2009, probably in late April/early May. I'm sure there will be threads about the 2009 DC Games here on the Disboards.

Here is my trip report from that trip: 2008 DC Games Trip Report

Time to finish this report.

On Sunday morning, November 2, because the time "fell back." We had an extra hour to pack up and get out of Dodge.

It was cloudy, and drizzled a little bit over night, and in the morning. I kept hoping that the sun would come out and dry everything off before I had to pack it up, but no such luck. It didn't downpour, but the morning remained cloudy.

DD's went off on a "monorail adventure," while I returned the golf cart and packed up.

Even though we had extra time, we ended up not leaving the Fort until around noon.

I don't like having to return the cart at the front. It is easier to take it to the Bike Barn, which is not a bad walk from any of the loops. The new golf cart return area is all the way up by the drive through lanes. That is a long walk, or you will need to ride the bus. Return time for everyone is still 11 am, even if you picked the cart up later.

When DD's were returning from their adventure, they snapped these two photos of the work that had already resumed on the 400 loop. You can see that they were pulling out the grills. These sites had just been vacated that morning:

So, these photos are from nine days ago. I'll bet the forms are already up and some of the concrete poured by now.

Well, that is all that I have for this trip. I'm not sure when we will be back to the Fort. It might not be until January or February. But, we will be back, and there will be another report.

See you then!

I'm thinking of taking an insurance policy out on ol TCD in case he's not able to return to the fort for some reason. The Travel Channel should've had him take Samantha Brown to the fort when she visited last year. Speaking of Samantha, I saw her on a cruise ship last week and it was definately the shirt she had on that well....... gave her that look.

kelly ripa should borrow that shirt, lol.:lmao:

i vote for TCD having his own permanent site and then we could have him install a fort cam for us all! :goodvibes

Thanks TCD for another great report, can't wait till your next visit, almost as much as mine. :yay:

What!?! It's over already? Donnie mentioned a cruise, aren't you and the clan taking a Disney Cruise in the near future? That should be some trip report. Camping, cruising, any TCD trip report is welcome. Thanks for the report.

No cruise here. I would like to do a cruise though. We'll be at the fort Thanksgiving.

Apologies Donnie. That was supposed to be directed to TCD based on your mentioning it. I highly recommend a Disney Cruise if you get the chance though. We had a blast on our 4-day last August. I understand they have great rates on 3-day cruises for FL residents. It'd be a tough choice between Thanksgiving on the high seas or at the Fort. If it were me I'd take two weeks off and do both.

Based on the current incentives being offered, I would say the chances are good for a TCD DCL cruise in 2009.

I have had a heck of a time trying to line up FW ressies for 2009. May have to break down and call CRO uggh!

BTW Chris- Congrats on the "That Guy." Sticker. I have tried many times to be that guy. I guess I must not match their profile. I have been on camera for other things there at the Laugh Floor, but have never been "That Guy."

Thanks. I believe it's the same seat every time (IIRC, facing the screen it's the second row, second position from the left on the right side) like at the Hoop-Dee-Doo. I was lucky to have the cute blond sit on my lap our first time there, in 2002. Naturally DW and DS were laughing too hard to grab the camera.

It seems like "That Guy" is always in the same area, but not always the same exact seat. Believe me, I have tried.

And, I got a kiss from the "cute blond" at the HDDR. We went on my 45th B.D. During the show, they asked if anyone was celebrating a birthday. The family of a girl stood up and said that she was celebrating her 16th BD (you never saw a girl so mortified). The male actors came over and made a big fuss about how she was "sweet sixteen and never been kissed," and then they stood on either side of her, and kissed her on her cheeks. Of course, since it was my birthday, too, when the actress came over to ask my name, and age, I told her I was sweet 45 and never been kissed. So, she kissed me on the cheek, too. Left a big lipstick kiss mark on my cheek! My DD's were mortified. And, we have always threatened to bring them to the HDDR for their 16th birthdays, too.

the red-headed girl has picked my son's, each when they were 4, to be in the show. the first time , it was 1989 and she dragged him up for the little sheriff. the second time, it was 1999, and my other son was chosen to be the little sheriff (yes, they're 10 yrs apart). Both times, they were chosen cause they also have red hair. My second son was chosen another time but was too afraid to go up so the red-headed gal kissed him on the cheek and i had to get a picture of him with the big lipstick kiss mark on his cheek. When my older son was 16, we pointed him out, much to his dismay and he got the lipstick on his forehead. i think he secretly enjoyed it, lol.:lovestruc
