Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

I posted this last night in the kindness thread and want to give a thumbs up here, too, an older from 2022 movie called Autumn in the City. It takes place in New York. It's the story of Austin (a writer) and Piper (an illustrator) and how collaborate on a children's book and fall in love. I grew to root for both characters and especially loved Austin's mother at the end and how she supported both her son and Piper. I would definitely recommend:)

Okay, then... need to clarify my earlier complaint. I'm tired of multiple movies about a group of friends detailing their individual stories. THIS mini-series is soooo much better. I just finished Part 2 of Providence Falls and WOW! This ending was heartbreaking! This is one of the better storylines I've seen on Hallmark... and it keeps twisting. It's written well and the acting has been really good too. I can't wait to see how it all ends next Saturday.

::yes:: I suspect when the current programmer got called into the Hallmark CEO's office to explain how many more series there are and was told there is this mini-series in August too, the CEO probably went,

"No! Not another series! We're just not going to promote this one very much." Whereas, out of all the series, THIS is the one that should be promoted as it's not the same "series" format as the others and the overall quality of this production is so much better. If Nial Matter hadn't shown up indicating it's a Hallmark production, this could have been a Netflix mini-series. This should also have been on Hallmark Mystery instead, which has been shoved to the wayside this year, as this mini-series has more drama and mystery to it.

@Imzadi, you're right... the lead actress is really good. She reminds me of Mariska Hargitay.

Yes, I see what you mean. Katie is very real and down to earth. She's intelligent, is able to convey the complexity of what she's going through, and has emotional depth. If her detective character was transported and plopped into the Law & Order: SVU detective bullpen, I think she can hold her own with the other actors. :thumbsup2

Its been a long time since i've posted mainly because i'm lucky to catch hallmark stuff on repeat if i have time but this was announced today for the christmas folks https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/hallmark-grand-ole-opry-christmas-movie-brad-paisley-1236482800/

Great post! I'm glad you had your eyes peeled. :magnify: :thumbsup2

I think it will be nice to have Kristoffer Polaha in another time travel movie. I really liked him in A Biltmore Christmas. And having Brad Paisley write & perform original music for the film and a Hallmark theme song is a nice touch. Although, since his sister-in-law Ashley Williams is a Hallmark regular, and she and Kimberly made two Hallmark movies together, he would have never heard the end of questions had someone else stepped forward to write the music. 🎶

Nikki is one im hoping will sing since she has such a good voice but i also know im going to be critical on this one too 😂

With so many musically-inclined actors & actresses, I've always wondered why Hallmark never did a Christmas Spectacular type of show. It could be held and filmed at the Hallmark Christmas Experience in front of their fans. Then it could be aired sometime during the holidays.

She was a Mouseketeer with Britney, Justin, and Christina!
And I learned something new today!

That was quite the mouseketeer class... Keri Russell, JC Chasez and Ryan Gosling were in there, too.

This is telling my age, but that wasn't my Mouse Club era. I grew up during the reruns of the original Mouse Club. I think the most famous mouseketeers from then were Annette Funicello, (which is why they re-ran the original show. She was hugely successful doing her beach bikini movies by then.) And Tim Considine and Tommy Kirk, who were the original Hardy Boys, which aired during the Mouse Club.

I like the Lisa Welchel era MM Club, I was obsessed, and can still recite the lyrics to every song on their album, that may or may not, still be in my basement.

Probably because it would cost too much. The "HallStars" are already being paid way over the union minimum rate for (unknown) lead actors in a movie. Adding on singing would up their price, as then they'd be probably categorized as a specialty talent or something like that.

I remember I was peeved when they kept casting Tony Award nominee for Cinderella, Laura Osnes, in various movies, then didn't have her sing. The movies even featured music in the story-lines. In one movie, Christmas in Tahoe, the unknown guy sang, but not Laura. 🤷‍♀️ They didn't even have her sing with him. :headache: What was the point of hiring her then? :scratchin That's when I began to suspect Hallmark couldn't negotiate to pay her what she's worth as a singer. Perhaps the movie was originally written where she joins the guy onstage to sing with him. But, when they wouldn't pay her, they didn't have her sing at all.

Katie stevens that is the newest hallmark series is a singer too, she's had more success acting but she was on idol years ago

The guy who sang at the end is actually the lead singer of Train who sung one of their songs from their album “Christmas in Tahoe”. I think he was involved with the film in other ways, like perhaps co wrote it.

I just finished re-watching A Christmas Love Story with Kiristin Chenoweth & Scott Wolf, for the umpteenth time. I needed to watch a Hallmark movie with music after all this talk. 🎶

The man who plays Kristin's choir partner/musical conductor was in the Dreamgirls movie and he played guitar in the orchestra of 3 Broadway musicals. It's interesting how many musically talented actors Hallmark does have in their movies. Yet, we get maybe one movie a year or so that may have some singing.
