Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

Just finished watching The Way Home. I'm going to miss it so much until next season!!

Who else already assumed Jacob time-traveled? But I expected it was into the future, and he was going to show up, not that he was stuck in the past!

The Cases of Mystery Lane at 7pm ET on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries

Starring: Paul Campbell and Aimee Garcia.
Description: Birdie and Alden Case find a way to keep the mystery in their marriage alive, literally, when the amateur sleuths are pulled into a murder investigation.

My review of this movie: I fell asleep twice while trying to get through it twice. The main character (Paul Campbell) doesn't even SOLVE the case, so he's not really a sleuth solving a mystery. :confused3

I get why Paul Campbell wanted to act this. He gets to play a very different type of character than what he's used to playing. On the one level, that may be a actor's dream. And Hallmark wants to show different types of movies than their norm.

But, Paul and Hallmark both seem to forget one fundamental fact: audiences like to watch LIKEABLE characters. And heroes/lead characters need to be HEROES, not wimpy characters, especially flacid, wimpy MEN get who accidentally get caught by the murderer, and almost murdered himself. Then the murderer was caught trying to murder Paul by other people - not Paul being strong and HEROIC. :headache:

It's not enough (for me) to watch a likeable actor playing an unlikeable character because he wants to play something different.

And the relationship with his wife was weird and annoying.

If you like Paul and want to see him again, rewatch him in A Godwink Christmas which, I just found out, the IMDb .com says has now been RENAMED to A Christmas Coincidence. WHAAAT??? WHY??? o_O :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

o_O :sad2: I wonder if some bonehead Hallmark exec thought they should get rid of the word "God" in the titles to be more politically correct and to separate Hallmark further from GA Family?

Did Hallmark re-edit the movies too, to take out the scenes where Kathie Lee Gifford talks about God and Godwinks?

Good question. Wonder why they didn't do the others yet?
I will have to keep an eye out for this one, to research if it's edited. That will be a very tough job...LOL, I love Kimberly and Paul together so much!

Missed this thread.:grouphug:to all. I did try watching The Way Home but didn't yet get into it. Glad so many of you are enjoying that series📺Thank you all, always, for keepong this thread going. Much appreciation extra to Imzadi for hosting.

Speaking of you, Imzadi, I certainly pray Hallmark has not done that. I would express to Hallmark my dismay for sure!

Meantime, are any of you going to check out the new horse series, Ride? I admit to not being a rodeo fan or a true 🐴person/ knowledgeable but do enjoy some horse related books. This series did look interesting with pretty scenery. I did enjoy the Montana set movie that had a mother, her parents, and a young child in it. I am ready for a new show/movie so will check it out and look forward, as always, to each of your thoughts :)

Prayers this finds each of you healthy and staying warm. For LA it has been very cold and rainy! So ready for Summer. Grateful to God in all and for friends in each of you. Have a great rest of the day. Happy movie/TV watching this evening to all :)

So far, it's been under the radar. I did a search on the Hallmark FB group and on Reddit, and no one has said anything ab out the changes yet.

:scratchin I wonder if Hallmark is temporarily moving the first two movies over to their Hallmark Movies Now streaming platform. Sometimes, they take some of the better movies and the Hall of Fame movies and move them to that platform, so people have to pay for that service to see those movies. (In my opinion, the first 2 movies are the best in the series.) They may have changed the names to make it look like they have more new movies on Hallmark Movies Now than they actually have.

Thank YOU! 💐 It's a labor of love doing this thread. ❤️

Me too! I'm sure there will be many who complain once the news has spread.

And maybe Hallmark will quietly change the titles back. :teleport:

I was planning on recording it. But my Spectrum cable service decided to do a cable box upgrade last Sunday during prime time, instead of late at night when most of us are sleeping. So my DVR didn't get to record Ride. :badpc:

Please do let me know, Imzadi if you find out any more information. I will definitely contact Hallmark if you do. Oh no, I'm sorry. We have had Spectrum issues like that or voices being out of sych too. On Demand shows the trailer of Ride+at least the first episode. I hope you can watch it. I'll share when I have.

I don't remember the name offhand just that I often watched it with a church choir friend. It was a horse related show that was a good one. I do enjoy as an adult rereading The My Secret Unicorn books by Linda Chapman. A lot of the Love Inspired books that I also enjoy are country centered too. So lol maybe I am a bigger than just 🎠fan.

They are perfectly comfortable with the Dayspring movies, so that seems odd?

I know they rename things all the time. I wish they wouldn’t because of course the way we recognize movies is from the title 🤷🏽‍♀️

:teacher: Fun Trivia about the stars of Love in the Maldives.

The two stars, Jocelyn Hudon and Jake Manley are married to each other in real life. They've been married for a year and a half.

Jake’s surprise proposal could have been a Hallmark scene. They were surrounded by 1000 red roses on a rooftop in Toronto.

But their Las Vegas wedding on October 31, 2021, was far from a typical Hallmark affair, with a pink Cadillac, a “zombie Elvis” and Jocelyn wearing a black wedding dress, according to ET Online. Though Hudon admits it was a “strange wedding,” the couple maintains eloping on Halloween was perfect for them. "It was low maintenance for us and our guests, and definitely unique," the When Hope Calls actress said.

I really tried to enjoy this for the scenery, but I just couldn’t get into it 🤷🏽‍♀️

It might have been my mood. But it just seemed so predictable and boring.
I do have high hopes for the professional bridesmaid movie next weekend!

Yes, I loosely watched it too. Was going in and out of the room doing other stuff. And I just knew the plot was going to be that the female lead's boss was going to find the photos she didn't want published and that would cause the rift between the leads. So. Predictable. Done too many times with these kind of movies. 😴

One thing I really didn't like was the bedroom they gave her. It was one floor below, underwater, in a plexiglass domed tunnel, where you could see all the water and sea life all around.

For those who haven't seen the movie, it looked like this, but imagine a bed where the table is:

I got claustrophobic just looking at it. :scared: I couldn't imagine sleeping down there. Not to mention the lack of privacy while sleeping. I'd be sleeping on the couch upstairs, above ground.

I did watch A Picture of Her, and it was much better, as I would expect from a Tyler Hynes movie. And either they were taking their acting to the next level, or the leads enjoyed their stage kisses 😘 It was nice to see a couple with chemistry 👏🏽

Hallmark Channel: Hanukkah on Rye 🕎
Starring:
Jeremy Jordan, Yael Grobglas, with Lisa Loeb. Description: Children of rival Jewish deli owners find themselves clashing in real life while falling in love via letter thanks to a matchmaker set up by their meddling grandmas. Directed by Peter DeLuise.

We really enjoyed “ Hanukkah on Rye.”

CBS “Sunday Morning “ had pieces about Hallmark shows as well as one about some Hanukkah traditions. I grew up in North Jersey and certain foods like potato latkes are part of my Eastern European heritage. I looked forward to that movie, and my DH and I were not disappointed!

I just watched and thought this was such a fun movie! Lots of tradition, but modern, well-acted, a twist on the plot line, just a great effort overall!

I finally got around to seeing Hanukkah on Rye. Yes! Just before Passover. :lmao: I really, really liked this movie. Well acted, complex story, loved all the food and traditions they showed. And even as a non-Jew, I knew the only two Hanukkah songs they mentioned there are before they sang them. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Hallmark really needs to find and make more movies at this level. If that means one less new movie a month, so they can pay for BETTER quality movies like this, I'm all for that.

Sometimes they rename stuff and move/sell it to entirely different networks. I've seen hallmark movies renamed and dropped on UpTV and Pixl. I'll start watching something and then I'm like, "I've seen this," and I look it up and it was on HM under a different name. So maybe that's what they're doing.
