Hi everyone and congrats to all!

Although I didn't finish, I still did way better than I expected! With no training, (the furthest I had ever walked was 2 miles!), gaining about 25 pounds, and my foot still injured from a fall in November, I was hoping to do 2 miles and if I made it that far I was going to push for 3. I made it to the first sweeper bus, I think that was at 6? I could barely talk and walk at the same time, and I wasn't even going fast at all compared to other people, just fast for me! I would have quit when I saw the man down getting CPR, if not for my walking buddy at the time, Anita. I was so upset by this I started wheezing and was having a really hard time breathing. She helped calm me down and I kept going. I just met her on the course and know nothing more about her except she lives in Florida and her DH was doing the full marathon. Wherever you are Anita, THANK YOU! She got over a cramp she was having and sped up and away from me after a couple more miles, but unfortunately was also stopped. I feel very proud that I didn't QUIT, I only stopped because they stopped me. After I made it to 5 miles, my next goal was halfway and I know I could have made it. I'm glad I got stopped when I did and not at 10 miles! I only wished they had warned us that we would be stopped soon if we didn't pick up our pace. I couldn't have gone any faster, but some of those stopped with me might have. I asked several people about when we might be stopped, but nobody (including the bicycle guy who passed us just yards before we were stopped) knew the answer!
Anyway, I'm proud of what I accomplished and know that I could have pushed on even farther, just not faster. I would like to try again someday, but can't make it in 2006. When the weather warms up here though, I DO plan on walking and can maybe make it to a half-marathon closer to home.
I was planning on my first solo trip and was surprised (shocked almost to the point of falling over is more like it!) by my sister showing up at my resort and joining me for the last 4 nights. I'm so glad there was room for her at all of the activities I'd planned with you all.
I loved meeting all of the WISHers that I did, and wish I wouldn't have been shy and had talked to more of you at Trail's End. I also had a great time hanging out Saturday at MK with Barry and Nancy(perfectmatch300), eating at Boma Sunday night with MelanieC, Terri (24KK9), and her DH, Scott (forgot his user name). Thanks for the ride, Scott! I'll always remember the great meal we had there, and my "special" vegetarian meal I was surprised with, and our deep-fried oreos!! We also had a wonderful time on the WISHES cruise Monday night. That was the first time I'd done that, and now know I'd like to share the experience with my family.
Sorry this was so long! I guess I should have made another thread for most of this!
Debbie
