half marathon pin

My mom and I are running the half marathon in January and I am pretty sure I'm going to want to buy the commemorative pin they are selling, but I don't really want to order it ahead of time. I'm assuming they'll have them for sale at the expo--is that true? Thanks

Well, I was able to buy the full marathon pin at the expo this year. I don't remember seeing the half pins...but I wasn't looking for them. So you might get lucky.

They are usually for sale but I buy mine ahead of time just to be safe. I just heard the ToT pin is sold out.
One never knows!!

I would buy ahead of time if the pins really matter to you. Even getting to the expo early, things were pretty picked over last year.

We ran the marathon relay and didn't want to buy the "we did it" shirts ahead of the race when we were at the expo on Thursday (we got there a little before closing) since we technically didn't do it yet. We went back around noon the next day with a friend who just got into town and there were maybe a handful of the shirts left in the odd sizes.

Thanks for the info! I do like to buy pins for special occasions, like when DH and I are at Disney for holidays or celebrating certain events, and I keep them in a shadowbox, so I really would like to get the pin. Suppose I'd better go ahead and order then, just in case!

I thought the pin you bought at the time you signed up and pick up with your packet was the only way to buy that pin.

I do not recall seeing a pin like it for sale at the Expo.

At the Expo I picked up the I DID IT pin for the 1/2 though. Figured if I jinxed myself and didn't end up finishing, I'd give it to someone during the rest of my stay that had a finisher medal.

I didn't jinx myself, so I was happy that I did get it.

Now... I did end up with a WOMANS I DID IT 1/2 T-Shirt... the guy at the expo failed to mention that the shirt I was looking at was only a womans tee.

At least my 1/2 Marathon tech tee I bought IS a mens shirt

I'm not sure that is the case any more. In 2006 I did the inaugural Disneyland half and there was a pin you only got by pre-ordering it. In both 2008 and 2011 though I didn't pre-order the pin while one of my friends did. Both times the pin they got was the same one I bought at the expo.

This was my experience in all the 2011 and 2012 races I've done so far, identical pins for pre-order or purchase at the Expo. However, that being said, the Tinkerbell Half and Tower of Terror pins were sold out before registration for the race filled and there were not extras to be purchased at the expo. Got a Tink one off eBay, though......

I was unable to order the pin when I registered in January because they were sold out. However, they had the official Princess race pin and another choice when I went to the Expo on Friday morning. I always try to preorder but if they are sold out, just get to the expo early.

When I did the Princess half this year I pre-ordered the pin. When I got to the Expo (pretty much at opening) they had lots of the one that you could pre-order, and they said they had sold out to pre order. They also had another one that looked like the medal. I don't know if it's different for Marathon weekend. I want those pins too so I will probably order them when I register so I am guarenteed to have them.

Two years ago for the Princess Half, my fiance did my registration for me and didn't pre-order the pin for me. I have one from every other race and I was upset when I picked up my packet at the expo and didn't have a pin. I tried to buy one there but there were none to be found. We asked a bunch of cast members and they said they were sold out. My amazing man bought me one on ebay a few weeks later. Cost him $30. I always make sure to order my pins at registration now just in case
