My DGf will be participating in the half-marathon in Jan. 2007..is anyone else here attending, or has anyone attended previously?

If so, what resort do you typically stay at to relaibly get yourself to the parks so early? I know Disney Transportation starts running thir buses early, how is the bus system during that time? Do you normally take naps directly after the race, or do you play in the parks unti it gets busy (about noonish)and then take a nap...?

Thanks for all your info...if you have anything else you'd like to share, please do. Thanks!!! :)

check out the WISH board (this board is almost at the bottom of the main disboards.com page) and click the EVENTS sub-board at the top. There you will find some pretty good advice regarding where we all are and such :)

my replies.... we use the bus system and our personal choice is to arrive early only because it makes us feel better. naps for me and my racing partner are a must afterwards LOL

Good luck to your DGF!!!!

From my experience...
I have ran this the past 3 years with my husband and my in-laws, and we have always stayed at the POP Century, we never had any problems, the buses pick you up at about 4 and run continously. Last year, my husband ran the full, which was on a different day, and I hoped on one of the buses and they took me to Epcot and then I took the monorail to the TTC to view and just ran around. We always went in to the parks afterwards and spent the whole day there, it keeps your muscles warmed up so you are not so sore, my first year, I went back and napped and I could walk that night. Just keep them moving. We are also going down the the Inaugural Disneyland 1/2 Marathon, 100 days until we leave!!

Please check out the WISH board here at the DISboards. There are a bunch of people who are doing the 1/2 & Full Marathon. I did it with the DIS WISH group in January 2005. Your DGF will have a wonderful time!

We stayed at the Caribbean Beach and they had motorcoaches that went to the beginning of the race (around 3:30am!) in the parking lot of EPCOT. There were busses that ran continuously and once we got out side there was a bus waiting to take us over. We even brought our breakfast onboard. When I was done, I went back to my resort to shower and change. I was on cloud nine. I went to EPCOT and ate at Japan and then walked around. Around 3pm I went back to the room for a nap. I was exhausted after that and my body had started to wind down at that point. I had dinner at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and it was tough waking up from that nap.

Oh yeah, I've also known people to go get massages afterwards. Have a great time. I definately agree with keeping moving afterwards. It felt good to go to EPCOT and walk around. Once I took a nap I was sore!

Where can I get more info on the marathons?
