Happy St. Patty's Day!!

Margie- Feel better soon.

Erica and I had a beautiful day out today.

I had a good workout then mowed the yard.

Denise, thanks for your kind words on my Blog yesterday. Nice to know I'm not the only one whose adult children are driving them nuts.

Happy Panda:hippie:

Vicky, yeah Spring Break is a nice treat. I'm going home to Alabama.
Denise, Weather is gorgeous. 50 and sunny!

I did 5 miles at a comfortable 8 mpm for 40 minutes total.

Jennifer

Good evening Team! Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Margie - take care of yourself!

Connie - congrats on your finish!!!

Weather has been great here, if a bit windy, but warm anyway. Have not had the time to get out for long walks, but have been trying to get dogs out for at least a loop (1.25 miles). Today I managed to get in a weight routine and then walk 3 miles. The past couple of days I have been walking faster, almost up to my previous speed - some days because it was colder than expected, and wind came up quickly, but last 2 days have been nice.

Time to go see who is getting kicked of "Dancing with the Stars".

Have a great evening!

Good Morning, TEAM! :wave2:

:cheer2: :cheer2: Again Congratulations, Connie! And a Huge Welcome Home-you did awesome Girl! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Jack-Cute Graphics. I did not know Mickey was Irish! :goodvibes

Thanks Bunches - all your 'Get Well Wishes are working (just not fast enough) I still feel awful – but did make myself go to the gym. Did 15 slower miles on the bike, some ABS, lower body weights, and stretching. Oh I so need a nap and it’s only 8:AM!

It’s so frustrating to have nice days and not be able to get out and enjoy a nice walk.

Did any of you join the President’s Challenge? I did – I keep a spreadsheet for my time & miles so it is not any extra work for me. twoWDWfools-Liz posted a WISH team number for us to use.

Hey Team!! Just popping in before I leave for work. They changed me over to a late shift on Wednesdays...which is ok because now I can get a good midweek workout in!!

I haven't had time to read posts but....

Connie - A birdie told me you did a half!! WTG!!!! I am very proud of you...you have come such a long way!!!

Vivky - I miss chatting with you. Do you have facebook? As I've told Denise..I can get on facebook at work pretty easily since it's the same color scheme as Continental. I used to attempt the DIS more often, but my coworkers caught on. The yellow and bouncy stuff are pretty obvious!!

Jennifer - Still speedy as ever!!

Margie - Getting pretty close to the Martian...excited?!?

For me..I've been training for a possible 1/2 in May. My friends want me to run the Cleveland half, but Jordan has been claiming he's interested in the 10K. If Jordan does the 10K I might just do that with him instead.

OK..I'm officially running late..

TTFN!!

Eva, late shifts can be tough. I work one and some weeks its awesome and others its tough.

As for me, I did a 35 minute tempo run. Average speed 7:55, top speed 7:20, low speed 9:15.

Best,
Jennifer

Hello, Hakuna Matata! Just thought I'd pop by and send sun salutations your way! (Not that I'm good at them, but it's a sunny day and all....) :goodvibes

A smattering of responses....

Connie, Susie, Mary, et al: Congratulations on your race! :woohoo: Looking forward to the RRs!!

ScottH: Congrats on the promotion. As if you weren't busy enough.... I'm impressed that you ran into your office. That's doing double duty.

Lynn: WTG being put into a supervisory position. Lots of work, but your bosses know a leader when they see one. Canvassing? The census? My brother works for the census bureau in D.C. Did a stint in Denver, too.

Denise: It's great that you've been getting back in the groove with walking. I go through these cycles where I don't feel motivated, then I avoid everything, and then come back. Like you, I struggle to find balance. I think weather has a lot to do with it, as once spring hits I'm far more motivated to get outdoors. I hope the same is true of you. The massage sounds verrrry motivating.

Margie: Thanks for being such a great source of info and a cheerleader to HK and all the rest of us. This one's for you! :cheer2: And another one for your last LW before taper and the Martian! :cheer2: I hope you feel better soon. Oh, and I joined the President's Challenge--gonna take a while to earn the Gold, but I'll get there.

Dave: I'm glad to see you're back to your cheerful Panda self. You know you can always turn to us for encouragement, right? And an old-fashioned noogie on occasion. :rotfl2:

Vicky: You'll bounce back to your running/walking intervals in no time. You've been doing a lot of good, overall conditioning with your PT.

Jennifer: I hope I catch you before spring break (going home sounds relaxing). You've been working hard with the midterms and papers--I hope you get a chance to relax next week. Or at least play hard. ;) Great tempo run, btw. Your 1/2 is going to rock!

Sue: Glad you've been able to run outside in the sun. That first robin is very good news for spring. Hope today remained nice for you.

Jack: I love, love, love that St. Patty's Mickey pin. I don't collect a lot of pins--just in association with trips--but that one's perfect for the holiday.

Eva: Love your avatar! I ran the Cleveland 1/2 last year--don't know the 10K course, but can recommend the 1/2. Lots of good scenery in the beginning, leading into some beautiful residential areas, then back through the city. And good spectator support. I don't remember a lot of entertainment on the course--some DJed music to promote the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but not a lot of live music--but I might be spoiled with Disney on that one. The expo is small, but I scored a lot of free goodies, including a free gym Sack. It says Saturn on it, but it was free!

Hey Guys!

Thanks for all the kudos and well wishes! After a year of being out of the racing game, this felt a lot like a first race. And what a great first race it was!!

As you know, Little Rock, AR is in the Ozarks. Not the real Ozarks more the foothills of the Ozarks. Hills? What hills? Okay, the half had hills. They weren't unmanageable and they weren't even scary, even for this girl from the flatlands of the prairies! I started out the race doing 15 minute miles, but after a few bridges over the Arkansas river and a couple biggter hills, I had slowed my pace. By the end of the race, I had managed 17 minute miles. One of the fun sites along the race was the Villa Marre (the home that was seen from outside on "Designing Women") and the Governor's mansion. I enjoyed the walk very much, the weather was perfect and it was a great time.

This race is really supported well with a Perks tent and an After Party. The perks tent provided private porta-potties, gear check, messages, hand washing stations, food and beverages (including adult beverages) before and after the race for only $20 extra. The after party wasn't held until 4:00 pm giving ALL of the athlete's a chance to attend. One of the funniest moments for me was at mile 13 when there was a "lipstick stop". Maybelline provided lip gloss and volunteers held mirrors so that us ladies could all look our best for the finish line photo! :upsidedow

This one will be on my radar for an early spring race!!! I will gladly do it again!

Good Evening Team!

Just have a few minutes to check in here - it sounds like everyone is doing great!

I got in a 4 mile walk in today, at a decent pace.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning, TEAM! :wave2:

I am up, somewhat dressed, the trash is curbside, and Hagen is all ready on the move, but that’s about all I can say. I don’t know how long this stuff last, but it has too all ready been too long!

Connie- Sounds like a FUN race- I never had a lipstick stop and I am a bit envious! And know I would love the Perks Tent and the Post Party!!!!!

Waiting for DD to call with the update on how things are going at the hospital with SonIL’s full body MRI and SisterIL on the Hospice visit for BIL yesterday afternoon.

Have a great day!

Morning everyone! It's a little chilly today so it looks like I'll have to bundle up for my run tonight. I checked on the US/Can $ exchange rate and there was a difference of $0.04 from yesterday! So I went and bought enough for the WDW 1/2 marathon registrations. Yay!

Margie - I'm registered for the challenge! Which reminds me that I should go and log my workout yesterday. pixiedust: for your SIL and his MRI. I hope things go well. How about you? Hope your cold is doing better.

Jen - Safe travels! I hope you have a relaxing trip!

Connie - Great RR! I love the lip gloss stop idea - did you get to pick your colour or did they have the same colour for everyone?

Eva - I'll have to look into getting an account there. I see people at work on there ALL the time. I'm guessing they use it for e-mail since other e-mail sites here are blocked.

That's it for me! Have a great day everyone!

Vicki! LOL All the volunteers had a handful of gloss they were all Mauvish ranging from lighter not quite pink mauve to a brown mauve! LOL

Connie, Sounds like a great race! Will I be seeing you there when I do it in 2010?

Vicky and Debra, Thanks! I leave tomorrow and it looks like good weather.

As for me, I did a relatively easy 4 miles in 32 minutes (8 minute mile) and a 60 minute pilates class.

Best,
Jennifer

Eva, if you want to DIS at work, you know just a peek, there is a default that you can pick called discreet. Go to the very bottom of the page and on the left side is an box to pick the colors. Some times I change them so I can have a variety. I did use discreet at work a couple of times, but now I can't post or seen threads at work - it must be blocked somehow.

Sorry, no workouts, I"m making a purse for a raffle item tomorrow night - got to go finish that. May post pictures when done.

Happy Spring Everyone!

A little cold for the 1st day of spring. The sun is shining so no complaints.

We had a couple of nice "warm" days for running outside but last night was very windy & cold. Needed the gloves & hat.

I have been trying to post from work. Do my typing hit submit. Then all it does is spin & spin & spin. Finally have to give up and my post is lost out there somewhere.

Connie, Sounded like a fun race & a nice way to get back into it.

Margie, I googled your Martian marathon. This also looks like another fun race.

Denise, Please post pics. I love seeing all of your wonderful creations.

Vicky, Missed out on combat this week because of work. Still going along with the weight classes. Really starting to see a positive effect of the weights on my running & doing pilates.
How's your training going for the Toronto 1/2? What do you have about 10wks. to go?

Have a great Friday......Sue

Good morning Everyone!

Jennifer, my hubby asked me if I would be going back to Little Rock next year. I said, "If we can, I would love too!" That's the best answer I have right now. My husband grew up in Arkansas and wanted to go with me this time, but he had to go to work. Many of his school chums live nearby.

I am kind of hobling around because of blisters. They are improving though. Got to get them well, my next race is next month! I will be in the marathon relay with my family.

Margie, don't get caught up in all the basketball hoopla while you are trying to do the Martian. I met a woman from Seattle who will be doing and just couldn't understand why she had to pay sooooooooo much for a hotel room and rental car. She didn't know about the Final Four.

Denise - I looked for discreet. I didn't find it.

Well I am off. I am meeting Katwalks daughter in a not-so-nearby city for lunch.

Y'all make a great day! See ya!

Connie

OK back at the salt mines....

Gravity Storm is when ya trip and fall, Like boom ya get hit with a gravity storm and fall down... so I took a tumble on an uneven sidewalk, it was dark, but I finished my run.... smacked my elbow, chin, knee and both palms. On the way home I called Lynn and had her make a DR appointment.

I was at the Dr yesterday and today, thought I busted my elbow, well I did, the orthopod today said no surgery, let heal on it's own with light stretching to bring it back to full range of motion. So time will heal. Got the OK to Run. Gotta watch the lifting.

Really glad no surgery.

Weather is cloudy and warm here, so no snow that I know of. Work will not calm down, dealing with stuff, Grants etc etc....

Connie take care of those blisters.

Eva, flew Continental on the way back, Visited the Presidents club in FLL and IAH. Very nice. A lot better than the US Air flight on the way out.

On US Air out and Delta Back next week.

Then shoudl eb home for a while maybe.

Hope we have good weather this weekend need to Run....

Connie - blisters oooooooooooooo, they are the worse. Hope you get some relief. Check your socks and see if you can find something better. Also a friend told me to avoid them she sprays her feet with deodorant. Never tried it so don't know it if works.

Scott, a tumble, gee, I'm the tumble queen here, I feel your pain or at least I have felt your pain. When I think back on how many times I have fallen even during my first 1/2 I'm so thankful that I didn't hit my head. Scrapes and bruised ribs are a blessing compared to a knock on the head like Natasha Richardson. Good Grief!

Last night my purse was one of the highest items sold! I was quite proud. Will post a picture later. I"d like a couple of walks today and tomorrow but will wait till it's warmer -the temp is currently 24 and it is way more pleasant in the 40's.

Have a good one all!

denise
