Hakuna Matata Chistmas Greetings!

Good Morning Team!
Welcome Mary!

I've been out of sync all week. Woke up this morning thinking it was Friday.
I'm getting alot of sleep but really tired this morning. Waiting for the tea to do it's magic.

Still hanging on to good weather for December but I think that is about to change later today & for the weekend. We will see how it plays out. Just dreading having to use the treadmill.

Finish Christmas shopping & decorating the house this weekend. With a long & short run thrown into the mix.

Hope everyone's training is going well. I'm out for a 4+ miler tonight.

Have a great day......Sue

:wave2: TEAM!

Hagen is way too helpful this morning - he has shut the computer down, had the printer doing unusual stuff, trying to vacuum the keyboard, but did a great job helping me clean off the deck - now he wants to type...oops now off to the adding machine! This is a lot of cross training for so early in the morning!!!

Gym this morning - just time for 15 miles on the bike and a few stretches.
Scott & Carrie are coming down tonight to do the untimed 5k Run/Walk Through the Lights in Kalamazoo with me.

More Snow- the roads have been sand/salted so they are not as bad today.

:hippie: Thanks - hope your schedule is slowing down a bit!

Enjoy all the Moments - MARY, Connie, Dave & Erica, Denise & Mark, Scott & Lynn, Diane, Eva, Jennifer, Jen, Kathy, Kim & Mike, Sue, and Vicky!

Good Morning Team!

It snowed all day yesterday, and was not windy, so the snow actually covers the ground, instead of the normal - bare ground with snow drifts! It was really pretty yesterday watching it fall. The Christmas lights look really good in the snow! I am having a good time this morning watching the sparrows and finches in the bird feeder. I may even find the energy to clean the walks, the snow is really light. The high today will be 14 degrees, but without wind, that should not be bad. Tomorrow the wind is coming back, and although it will be clear and warmer, the forecast is for "blowing snow".

I am still coughing too much for major exercise, the snow shoveling will be enough. Hopefully by the weekend I will be well enough for a long walk, the weather is supposed to be decent, at least warmer and clear, over the weekend.

Connie - I promise to get our times to you soon, I need to corral Scott into giving me his times on the treadmill, he has not been writing them down for me.

Have a great day everyone!

Welcome Mary!

I'm getting back in the groove. I ran a quick 3-miler (25 flat/8:20 pace), and now am off to write a paper.

Best,
Jennifer

Hi all from WDW. Went to MGM tonight to see the lights and get some Fab cookies for dinner. I did manage to get a salad at the BC store and some fruit too.

We had lunch in Japan today at their little snack shack up on the left. It was pretty good.

Tomorrow is our last full day and there is a DVC Members Christmas party near the international gateway and we're planning on attending.

We had some really big family news today that I knew about but could not say until today. The movie that my son Nick worked on last summer has been accepted in the Sundance Film Festival. It will be held in January after the 1/2 marathon so we're trying to get him a ticket out there to attend the premiere. We are very excited for him.

Well Illuminations is starting and I want pictures from the balcony.

Thanks for all the welcomes! :) I have been at Lauren's house tonight helping her with homework, etc. She has her very first Power Soccer tournament this weekend. I am one of her coaches. Power Soccer is done with Power Wheelchairs (which Lauren's drives around...they are her legs! :)) Anyway...we get to take a short drive to Birmingham after Lauren gets out of school. But it is going to be a very busy weekend. They have 4 games! Which is a lot for these kids!

Scott...I walked again tonight...but I do have it on my list to take a day off tomorrow! :woohoo: I can't wait for them to confirm dates for TOT! Cause I want to book my trip. :)

Bunnyfoo- I am sorry...I don't know your real name. I assume it is not bunnyfoo...I would definitely have a few questions for your parents! :lmao: Contrats on the 4 miler...that sounds like a long way to me right now. I hope it sounds like no big deal soon! :) and super WTG on the weight loss!! I hope that is an added benefit of my new inspiration!

Hello, Sue! :wave2: I use my treadmill a lot. I must be a wimp...because I like my TV on so that I am distracted as I walk. :) It will work for now, I guess...till I get my speed/endurance up. Then I will plan long walks outside.

Panda...do you go by Panda? Great words..."enjoy the moments"...particularly on a busy night for me like tonight. That was filled with moments I could easily miss.

Lynn - It is a very, very good thing that we don't get snow often. Because there is NO way you can get me out in the snow to walk/run...heck...do anything! Our city shuts down if it snows 2 inches. and ice...any ice...major shutdown.

Jennifer...I doubt I will EVER catch up with you! I think I did 1 mile at an 18:20 pace! :) :rotfl:

Denise...I am so jealous that you are there! :) Awesome about Nicks movie. What is it called? How does he "work" at a movie. I was in a movie in High School...it was a Disney movie actually. It was set at my school and I got to be an extra for a few weeks. It was FUN!

Big question... do they allow you to wear music on these Disney races? They didn't allow them in the triathlon I did last time. Made a big difference.

Yes Mary I'm the crazed Panda of the WISH boards and moderator of the DisneyRunning.com walking section. I also do a blog for motivation and healthy living topics.

Sounds like you had a fun time being the coach. We wear our iPods at the Disney Races.

Denise have a safe trip home. Can't wait to meet you and Mark at the marathon weekend.

Margie:hug:

Lynn, you have a full time job keeping 2 pups and Scott under control. I quit trying to keep Erica under control.

I'm off tomorrow so I can have a really good workout.

Have a restful evening y'all.

Happy Panda:hippie:

Yes all...I am alive. Busier than ever...but still kickin!

Wedding stuff is almost all done...now we just have to "pick up" The dress...the suit...the flowers...the cake. Ohhh...I still need to buy the champagne too.

Training is ok...I'm in the "freak out" stage. Not sure if I can do it...but too late to turn back. I have my first 20 miler this weekend (on my one day off). Just not enough time to properly train and rest. I've decided to throw any marathon time expectations out the window and just hope I run a sub 5. :confused3

Jordan and I have been sick. I'm on antibiotics from a possible sinus infection that has made my lymph nodes pop up. The doc at my work clinic said it should go away, but it's still there. Of course my mom has me freaked because I have already had a few scares in the neck region with some nodules that have been biopsied on my thyroid. Jordan has an awful cold and I'm praying I don't get it...need PD!!! :wizard:

Mary - Welcome!! I used to post daily (even multiple times in a day). But as work demands increase for year end, training picks up, and my wedding approaches I have little time to sign on. This is a great group and they will help you reach whatever goals you set for yourself!! :grouphug:

Dave - I'm here! Thanks for not forgetting about me!!

Denise - I'm so jealous of you right now!! I sooo need a trip to the world. Excited for marathon weekend...but do we HAVE to race?!?

Lynn - Feel better. Bundle up good when you shovel. If you raise your core body temp high enough, it can help combat the sickness (thats what my dad always told me about exercising while sick). Don't know if it's true...but it sounds good!

Vivkie - Slower pace is good if it keeps your knee healthy!! I've decided I'm going to run as slow as I want. We just have to remember the WISH motto...

DLF>DNF>>DNS (Dead Last Finish is better than Did Not Finish which greatly trumps Did Not Start), WISH gave me the courage to start.

To the rest of you.... :wave2:

Hi Eva, sounds like you have been a busy bee, and feeling puny to. You are ready for a vacation.

Connie I bet you are ready for a get a way yourself, tell Jon you need a trip to Disney to kick start your final healing. I promise all the hugs will help.

Margie are you saving up hugs for the Disney trip?

Scott and Lynn, it's 19 degrees here this morning and it got down to 15 last night, and we live in the SOUTH??? Global warming my pudgy ****!

Everyone have a super day and stay out of trouble.

Power Panda:hippie:

At work early, raod trip later this morn to Denver, Maybe if weather is good, High winds expected.

Lynn is still coughing, EVA I agree with teh raising of the body temps. was always told to sweat it out. Agin sounds good to me.

Denise, Park city is pretty neat, If Nick needs to get warm tell him to go over to Homestead Crater, at hot spings 96 degrees, we used to take our SCUBA students there for their open water dives.

Yes Mary, I want those TOT dates, other guess 10/24 ish, but I want ot know now,

Safe training all, stay healthy, get healthy, train smart.

I want to do a long day Sat or Sunday, but weather will determin the road conditions, TM I hope not.

Later gotta get back to work,

Morning Team!

Mark and I finally ent out for some miles this morning. I had to use the bathroom so I'm back in the room as he continues. It's the story of my life :rolleyes1

In response to the movie, it's called MysteryTeam and the clip is on YouTube. Be prepared for some "colorful" language! Nick was working on Props for the movie. It's what he went to college for Special Effects. The movie will be shown during the Park City at Midnight.

"Mystery Team" / U.S.A. (Director: Dan Eckman; Screenwriters: Dominic Dierkes, Donald Glover, and DC Pierson) —A group of kid detectives called The Mystery Team struggle to solve a double murder to prove they can be real detectives before they graduate from high school. Cast: Dominic Dierkes, D.C. Pierson, Donald Glover, Aubrey Plaza, Glenn Kaliso

Well I need breakfast and a shower so I'll sign off --Eva, take care with the flu/cold you can't have a red nose for the wedding! Don't stress, try to enjoy the process.

Good Morning Team!

It stopped snowing, it is partly sunny, and it is warmer, but it has started blowing. You cannot tell that I shoveled walks yesterday – on the other hand, the driveway that was full of snow yesterday is now almost all clear of it! They are saying that I-80 will be closed later today due to blowing snow!

Still coughing – worse yesterday than the day before, hopefully today will be calmer again. The only exercise I got yesterday was to shovel walks – that was easy, snow was really light. I did get a lot of work done on my afghans that I am making for Christmas presents – nearly done one, and just have one more to do! I tested out a “brownies in a jar” recipe that I am planning to use for other Christmas presents – I could not give them out without trying them first!

Eva - take care of yourself! You need to be healthy for your wedding!

Have a great day everyone!

:wave2: TEAM!

Mary - snow is truly beautiful! I got to shovel for a 1/2 hour, went to the gym (15 miles on the bike & some stretching), picked up my Little guy, back home, and bundled him up so he could help me shovel for another 1/2 hour...took some pictures and it was fun! :goodvibes

Did the 5K Run/Walk Through The Lights in Kalamazoo last night. The entry fee was food for Loaves & Fishes - Carrie & Scott drove an hour 45 minutes to walk it with me...they are runners, but stayed with me and did not run at all ... it was Soooo very nice! The Christmas light were pretty, some areas were not lit well, sections of the sidewalks were slippery with pot holes, lots of stop lights, & cars. You got it ... it was KWEL!

Lynn - :flower3: You also need to get plenty of rest to get better! I tried the sunblock last night - No Windburn!

Eva - :bride: Get LOTS of Rest! :flower3:

:hippie: ::yes:: - Hope you have a great workout! The last I looked last night before going to the 5K it was wind chill of 14 degrees. Yes, I dressed too warm and was sweating! :lmao:

Denise - Congratulations to Nick for his talented special effects accomplishments! :upsidedow

Connie - have you recovered from your busy weekend with your grandchildren including your proud little princess: hunter. How is your shoulder this week? :flower3:

ENJOY All the Moments Today! MARY, Connie, Dave & Erica, Denise & Mark, Scott & Lynn, Diane, Eva, Jennifer, Jen, Kathy, Kim & Mike, Sue, and Vicky!

Good morning gang.

It's another bitterly cold day here, 18 degrees, when will we be getting our global warming?

One more week till Gatlinburg so it needs to get pretty and sunny so we can play outside.

Erica and I are going to be finishing the marathon on strength of character not strength of training. But we will finish.

Margie we will be at the finish line, of your half, waiting for you.

Eva so glad things are going good for you.

Hi everyone.

Frozen Panda:hippie:

Good Morning!

Well we will check out later this am. Our flight is at 6:30 and we'll be home by 9:30 PM.

Dave it's 19 at my home so I feel your pain.

We went to MGM for a bit last night and then walked to Epcot to have a final margrita and then to China for pot stickers and egg rolls. We saw Illuminations for the last time this vacation and the extra Christmas portion is just fab!

We walked back to the BW with the intention of sitting and people watching but my chest hurt too much, I guess if it isn't better once I get home, I'll have it checked out. Much as we love it here, we're ready to go. It is nice to get away and be alone but the news is on here too so reality does creep in.

Parks have been busy which is nice to see.

Have a great day everyone, I'm sure it will be a beauty here at least till 6:30 when we have to get on that plane!

Have a safe trip home Denise.

I'm off to work another 12 hr day, yuck!

Working Panda:hippie:

Hi All,

I did a fast 4-miler 7:50 pace (31:30 total), and now I'm off to finish my Christmas shopping.

Bye,
Jennifer

Good evening all,
I'm sorry I haven't been here more  but I had to put down my computer after many years of loyal service and it took me a long time to decide to buy a new one. So now I'm trying a new one and it's working pretty well.
Like all of you, the weather is turning cold but at least no more than an inch of snow on the ground: compare to last year where we had at least one foot of snow on the ground, I guess we are lucky.
I'm reading all the post about the people going to Disney in a month and I have decided that in 2010 it will be my turn. :woohoo: I'll be turning 50 in mach 2009 and I want to celebrate for a whole year. The only question I do have is can I do the Goofy??? Right now I'm training to do a half in May in Ottawa and will see how the training goes from there.
have a nice week-end all.
Diane

Hey guys...

Is this the right way to do this...???

I did 1.5 hours of exercise this week and 3 miles.

I can't wait to turn more time next week!! :)

Hi Everyone!

Well, I did my first 10K last week. I finished in 1:16. I was thrilled! I jogged 2 minutes and walked 3 minutes. Felt pretty comfortable with that. It was 45 degrees out and I think the cooler temps were probably a plus, much to my surprise. After the race, I had a quick cup of chowder and then went out and did another 3.5 miles at a slower pace.

Yesterday, I did 8.6 miles at about 15.5 pace (this included 2 potty stops). I'm feeling like if I can just maintain and not get injured that the DONALD Medal is in sight.

Welcome, Mary!

Denise, thanks for sharing your days at WDW. It warms the heart and bring back fond memories (and makes me jealous!)

To all you experiencing colder weather - same here and personally, I find it depressing (especially the early dark nights) I hate leaving work when it's dark outside.

Looking forward to meeting some of you at the Marathon weekend. I spend hours perusing the boards for information. Was there ever a Hakuna Matata logo of sorts done for shirts? I remember discussion about it a few months ago. And I know I missed the WISH SHirt order, but does anyone have links to where I might get the logo? Maybe I'll do an iron on transfer.

Finally decided dates for our trip next fall - the weekend before Halloween. While DH doesn't agree, I'm hoping it will be the same weekend as the TOT. Since I felt miserably glutunous after PFTS at F&W, maybe we can do the run instead!

Take care, stay healthy and be well.

Anne
