Hi everyone! I'm a little bit late with my post but it was a busy day at work but I have more time to catch up!
Dave - Will get the front page updated! I cut and pasted the team stuff from a file that Margie gave me a while ago. But now that I look at the team roster, I see a lot of people haven't posted in a while. My birthday is the day before your's and I'm moving up an age category too

What are you and Sally doing to celebrate? Awesome find on all the work stuff for Sally!
Tandy - That's awful

What is wrong with kids - a death threat?!

I got bullied when I was in grade school by one or two kids but I stood up to them and they backed off. But that was before kids started carrying weapons to school. I don't have any experience with that kind of bullying but I hope you're able to get everything sorted out. Big

for you and Harrison! And definitely look into the police option like Rick suggested.
Elizabeth - When I first started running, I would do intervals of something like 2R/5W for an hour. I would work on a set interval for a week at a time and then I'd increase the run interval. So the next week would be 3R/4W for an hour, then 4R/3W, 5R/2W ...etc. I did that until I was able to do a 10R/1W. Once I knew I could do that, I moved from time onto distance and started running 3 miles using the 10/1 intervals. Once I was comfortable with the distance, I worked on increasing the interval to 15/1. On my 3 miler, the 15/1 interval worked out to one walking break so one day, I pushed and skipped the walking break. Then I worked on getting comfortable running 3 miles continuously. On bigger distances, I'd go back to the 10/1 intervals and slowly decrease the walking breaks as I got more comfortable with the distance and the amount of time I could continuously run. I worked my way up to 8 miles continuous at one point but always do 10/1 for races. I also worked on mileage based intervals too ... Sorry for the long answer!
Saylan - I don't know much about the Galloway method. I know he links some of his run/walk intervals to pace but that's about it. Your numbers make me

Can you tell I'm not good at math?
I've seen the BL contestants run faster than I do on the TM and I always wonder how they do it without flying off. My PT told me that he's set the TM to go really fast and flown off so it does happen. I would rather see you start at 6.5-7 and then work your way up to 10.5. If you're okay running at 8 for 400 meters (0.25 m), that's awesome

I also walk about 3.5 for 0.25 miles and then start running again. You and DBF are too fast for your own good if you guys blew the fuse

Glad you were able to go outside and continue with the workout! Good job! Look into arm sleeves ... they're awesome for 10C weather! You can roll them down when you get hot.
Lynn - Good job on the weight loss! The South Africa trip is your second ABD trip? Can you request to be put into an adults only group? I forgot to ask you - what happened to your other fruit trees this summer? Was it too hot/dry for them?
Kim - There are a lot of challenges to going paperless that the higher ups don't think about. We tried doing that for a bit in our group but one problem we ran into (aside from the labour intensive scanning) was that we didn't have enough hard drive space for all the scans we now had to store. And the lack of admin support doesn't help either...
Regina - That's an awesome loss!! Congrats!!

I've run by smokers many times - yuck! Did you eat before you went running? Someone told me that you should wait an hour after eating before exercising. And here I thought that only applied to swimming

The cramps could also be a shortage of electrolytes - I had the same thing happen to me back when I did the 30K in August. It was going well, then I had cramps and kind of lost steam. Before my long runs (and the day before too), I make sure I have a glass or two of an electrolyte drink. I started using one called Ultima which has a bunch of minerals - potassium, magnesium, calcium and no sugar. I've read that sugar can causing cramping too.
I read the iPhone 5 is suppose to be announced sometime soon. Does your cell phone company provide loaner phones or something like that?
Safe travels on Thursday
Mike - Sorry to hear about your cousin

That's very sad. How are you feeling after Sunday? Have you recovered or are you walking funny

Have you seen this
Youtube video?

Love the guy looking up at the stairs and the woman trying to cross the street!
AFM - I didn't quite make my 12 miler on the weekend. I tweaked my ankle (again... yeah again

) so it's feeling a bit peculiar today. My physio is coming over tomorrow to have a look at it. I hope he doesn't have to acupuncture it - I'm sure he doesn't want to either

So now I'm kind of rethinking Marine Corps ... I'm afraid if I go and run it, I'll make my ankle worse which means I'll end up walking Disney. And there's nothing wrong with that except I want to run both races. Plus I feel like I'm really undertrained for MCM. *sigh*
Oh I went to the baking show and watched Cake Boss - Buddy Valastro give a talk. For those of you who know who he is or watch his show. Did you know he's only 34-years-old. I thought he was 45

Oops! But he did say that he's been working full time at his bakery since he was 17 and a lot of days he'd be there for 15-20 hours. I guess the long hours and sugar (I read that it's an anti-oxidant) aren't great for the aging process. I ate a few sweets while I was there - it was my cheat day. I didn't actually eat that much but I felt really sick afterward. I guess maybe I had been doing better with cutting out the sugar than I originally thought.
I worked out tonight and did more upper body exercises on account of the cranky ankle. I did do a few lunges and straight leg deadlift exercises and those seemed ok. I'm going to try and get out tomorrow morning for a run before work. I want to see how the ankle is doing so I can give my physio a better update.
Have a great night everyone!
