Hakuna Kidani, What a Turtleful Phrase!

This was from the kitchen window looking out at the next cottage.

This was looking across the sidewalk from the front deck.

Front deck.

Towel creation.

On the front porch.

Miss Anita Wigd and her Mary Poppins bag.

Crossing a bridge, as we went to the grocery store.

We got sandwich stuff and things for simple breakfasts. We got a couple of pizzas, too, and some milk, ice cream, and fruit. We had more than enough and ended up giving things away when we left.

Later that evening, I planned to go take more pictures, but that place is dark at night because of the light rules for the turtles' benefit. There was really nothing happening around there, so I took a very few pictures and just went on back to the room.

Not much going on at the pool.

Looking down on the lobby.

Heron picture in the lobby.

After that, I just went on back to the room. If I had been in WDW, there would have been plenty of places to go for late evening picture-taking, but this was not WDW, and it was a different type of Disney experience. Vero Beach is not a place where you are supposed to run around all night long. This is a place where you hang out, relax, talk, turn in early, sleep late, soak up the sun, feel the breeze, and listen to the waves. And the sound of the waves is sooooo relaxing.

Your comment about taking a few days at the end of a busy WDW trip got me thinking :scratchin
We've never considered Vero and although some of our UK friends are surprised that we travel so far and don't spend a week on the coast whilst we're there, we've always been reluctant to take anything away from our Disney time. That said, it would be nice to have some time to relax and when the parks are on hand I find it hard not to want to keep going!
I'm beginning to think that a Disney beach resort might just be a lovely compromise ;) I'll look forward to finding out more about your stay.

Hope your school year is getting off to a smooth-as-possible start. My thoughts are with all those children and families who need a little extra support now, and throughout the year. We're on a completely different timetable in the UK and we are only part-way through our six week summer break - I'm definitely not thinking or talking about school just yet!

Sunday morning.

From the deck.

Jill and I were up early, along with Sophie. We decided we would go back out to a store while the others were sleeping, because she had forgotten to get a cheap stroller the night before.

As we drove.

A group of bikers on a Sunday morning ride.

Back at the resort, this car was in the front lot.

From inside, looking out at the ocean.

Are you getting the hint that I liked that view?

These girls were ready for some beach time, so it was the first thing on the list for the morning.

A marked nest on the beach.

A shout out to Distown!

They were not at all sure about this experience at first.

John finally coaxed Brooklynn into going out a short way.

Trying to get a footprint picture.

Someone had left some artwork.

A little later, at the pool.

The menu at Bleachers.

Information on activities.

This is where they have a variety of activities and meetings.

Fun things to make.

There are bikes to ride......

and t-shirts to dye.

That's it for today. Happy Sunday, all!

Joining in on your trip report!
I need to catch up.
Cant wait to read more.

Welcome! Hope you are enjoying today's pictures. :)

The great thing about this is, you are still on Disney property. It is clean and safe and family-friendly, so you don't have to worry about seeking out a place that provides that. Jill and I discussed it several times - it is a great way to end a busy WDW trip! And if you are there at the right time, you might be able to see the turtle activities - the laying or the hatching. So cool!

I don't blame you. Ididn't look at or think about school things until I had to!

What a great way to wake up and spend the morning.

I could sure use some time with
My toes in the sand and a drink in my hand time :goodvibes

You would have enjoyed it. Can you use your DVC points there?

I'm not a beach person, and I don't lay out, but relaxing on the deck, playing with the girls, and having the chance to sit and talk with family and friends - all of that was so nice. The sound of the waves rolling in really stands out as being one of the highlights of the time there.

I love the beach..... hate the sand, but love the beach.

I can tolerate it in my toes, not my shoes, they come off ( even sandals) as soon as I am going to step in sand.

I like the ocean but not sand in every crevice or the salt stinging.

The sound of the ocean.... :cloud9:

Time with family and friends is priceless

I can use my DVC points there and I'm with Anita - I need more points....:faint:

Loving the Vero pictures!! I am with you, not really a beach person, but love the relaxing time with family and listening to the waves. :thumbsup2.
I have spent my Sunday watching walk throughs of MK and AK on youtube and planning out ADRs for our Feb trip. :goodvibes

I should clarify my statement. I love the beach, but I am not one to lay out on the beach all day. I walk knee deep in the water for a short time, look for critters, take some pictures, and then I am ready to go. Sitting up on the deck listening to the water and feeling the breeze was good for me most of the time. ::yes::

As for the sand, yeah, it can be an aggravation. A bottle of baby powder helps tremendously in getting it off of your body. When I go out on the Poly beach, it's definitely shoes off. We stop at the water spout on the way out and get what we can off. That's making me think of Poly right now. Just think, there are lucky people in that pool and on that beach right this minute. And there are even luckier people upstairs eating some good 'Ohana and Kona food!

I need points, too. I just need a point to start with! That would make me an official DVCer, wouldn't it???

I have watched some of those several times. It's nice to be there through kind youtube people who share their walk arounds. :thumbsup2

I am not one to just sit on the beach for any length of time, but I love being around the beach and being in a beach atmosphere. I told Jill while we were down there that being around Vero made me really go back in time to my St. Pete days. Even though St. Pete is on the Gulf side, it still has the nice big beaches, so being on the beach at Vero made me think of being out on St. Pete beach or Clearwater. Going into town and crossing bridges everywhere you go - that's a Florida thing that took me back in time, too. Palm trees, lots of people bicycling, little touristy shops - I was having some big time memories about people, places, and things from 40 years earlier!

I did not know about the baby powder.
Yes A point would make you a DVCer. But even with banking and borrowing, 3 points would not get you a room anywhere.
:sad1:

I guess even though I can be out in the sun the doing nothing or doing little but laying might get me. I can't stay still for very long. Not really a "castle building girl but collecting shells , walking, or just watching the swimmers in the water ( yeah I know I can't get a way from that) should entertain me for a while. Early morning or evening. Sunrise for certain, but an evening walk with someone special is also very nice.

For me the serene waves, the water noises and maybe even the people having fun noises relax me.

The ocean brings back memories of my childhood too. For me more often during the off season when it is quiet or the preseason when I was working to getting the beach area set up. A very peaceful place for me.

I love the beach.
If I could be back at Vero right now, I would.

With all of these late nights it could almost happen. My classroom is about done. Just need to get the seating chart figured out and I'm all set.
I think.

The picture of Bella perched up on the arm of the chair in her swimsuit, ready to go down to the beach made me laugh. I don't know why, I guess, it's just so her....
I wish we could have gone to Red Robin too, but I probably wouldn't have gotten up in time. I stayed up all night and didn't go to bed until 5 AM on Saturday morning.
Look at the time I'm posting now.
Doing a little better.
Off to bed.

We are so blessed to live in Florida, and only about 30 minutes from the beach, but I am so not a beach person. I don't like the sand or the salt water or swimming with creatures. I love to swim but I'd much rather do it in a pool and I'm lucky that my parents live close by and have a pool in their backyard. My poor baby hasn't even seen the ocean yet and she's 22 months old. Once the crowds die down and the weather cools off, we'll probably head out for a beach walk and picnic.

Vero might work for me though - pool to swim in, ocean to look at and hear. I just hope neither of my girls decide they love the beach, I'd much rather spend most of our free time at Disney! :beach:

Would 3 points get me a night on a pool lounge chair? :scratchin

You know, I love the sounds of pool play, too. I like to prop my door open anyway, but when we are staying poolside, the added bonus is hearing the splashing and the kids' voices and the music and activities. It's not relaxing, but it makes me happy.

In St. Pete, some Saturdays our youth group would go to a beach for breakfast and then some hanging out. Those were such good times.

You missed some good burgers. :)

You know you can't be keeping all these wild hours when school starts. School marms go to bed by ten.

Yeah, you know Bella well - up, down, and all around. I had the privilege of having that little bundle of energy with me this weekend, and I cried when she left. Things were too quiet after they pulled away. :sad1:

I much prefer something without creatures and something I can see the bottom of for my swimming preference. ::yes:: I have been stung by jellyfish, and I have seen what washes up at red tide. I will only go about knee deep in the ocean now, and fuhgeddabout a pond. Yuck! I could do Weeki Wachee again, though. That water is like being in a pool.

I do believe this is where I would find myself parked most of the time. At least every morning and evening. What a gorgeous view!!

It is a lovely resort. There are things to do if you want to do them, and there is that big ocean to sit by if you are just in a sitting mood. Next time we go, if we ever get to, I would like to explore more of the city. We had planned to go out a little, but it just never ended up happening.

I like the beach, but not the sand too. I have no problem vegging out with a good book. Of course when you have kids to watch on the beach you can't do this. The kids usually enjoy the pool time more than the beach time.

I can't want to see all the fun activities you did while there.

Maybe you can have a Vero trip sometime. :goodvibes I think you'd enjoy exporing the towns around it, too.
That would be wonderful! I can use a nice relaxing trip about now for sure, but unfortunately I think that will have to wait a while longer, but hopefully not too much! :rolleyes2

Such great pictures around the resort. I can understand how you could find yourself spending lots of time on the front porch, or enjoying the view out your window! And IF I ever found myself getting too relaxed and needing something to do, it appears there are plenty of activities offered at the resort to keep you busy! :thumbsup2

Now as for the food, all I can say is $6.99 for a HOT DOG!!! :faint: For that price it better be a hot dog bun filled with strips of ribeye steak!!! :rotfl2:

The girls did look a little hesitant at the beach, but a great idea getting that footprint picture! :goodvibes

I hope the school year is starting out good for you! ::yes::

As for the sand, I don't like the no-see-ums. They like me, though. A lot.

I wish we had known in time to sign up for the tie-dyed t-shirt making.

:O Those Mickey head shirts. I must make one!!!! I wonder if they have directions online...

Yes, you can find the instructions for making them in several places. Mine would probably turn out looking like something crazy, not Mickey, but I have seen some good ones.

You could stay plenty busy at Vero. There were all sorts of things going on at the pool and at the Community Center.

Disney meals are not cheap. The good thing is, they are usually big enough to share - if not between two people, then two meals between three people, for sure.

My class did better today at getting in the groove of things. It takes some kids longer to understand certain rules and expectations. :rolleyes1
