Hairwraps

DD has one now from our trip last week, and had one 2 years ago. Both were behind ear, the underneath hair. First one lasted 3 months and we cut it out. She still has it in her room! She is hoping this one lasts as long. She has fairly long hair(halfway down back), got the regular bead set and 1 fancy one and only costs $15 this time. Not sure why but I did not complain :p ! I think her last one was about $22. Part of the fun to her is getting it done at WDW, near our resort pool!:D
She plans to get another one on our next trip later this year.

DD got her's done at Grotto Pool at Dolphin last month.
The cost was $6. flat rate, plus $1.50 per inch. However, if you get the deluxe edition (she crisscrossed the threads, made neat patterns on the wrap, etc.) it will cost you $6 + $2per inch. I didn't know this! She told me after it was done - oh well! DD's hair is quite long - so it cost us $42!!!
That's $6 + 16 inches @ $2/inch + $4 tip.
(I ran right out and bought the conair as an investment for future wraps!) However, I will say it looks quite nice!
DD has had hers for 6 weeks now - and I'm afraid to take it out!!
The hair is all broken at the roots - our wrapper said that all you do to take it out is soak it in conditioner???
What will the hair look like under the wrap? Unfortunately, it is on the top of DD's head (didn't even think about under ear, etc) and she will definately have a bald spot (yikes!). Can I just unwrap it carefully?
Any suggestions to avoid a bald spot??????
Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand about cutting the hair out and having a bald spot. My daughter has her hair wrapped every year in
Mexico and we leave it in for about 1 month and then I take it out. It usually takes me about 1 hour to take it all down. I have never lost any of her hair. Do they not use the foil at the end of the hair to keep it from splitting???

No foil!
They just tied it to the hair close to the hairline. .....now you really have me worried!

LOL Sorry to confuse anyone. No there was no bald spot at all.
They did not use any foil on the ends.
I cut it off due to the hair being all ratty where it was growing out. Maybe I should of took it out sooner.
Mine I cut off right at the top of the wrap and as it was under all my hair it couldnt be seen.
Hope this clears things up.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Ok - I'm trying to discern from these posts - what exactly is a hair wrap? Does anyone have a picture?

DD still enjoys an "annual" hairwrap experience each summer we are in the WORLD. She usually has them done on the BW, as the girls there are absolute "experts" and wrap the BEST (Yes, it's an ART/TALENT). She LOVES selecting the colors, beads and charms. Hers are always behind the ear, and cost an average of $60 and up.

They are "beautiful", and a VIVIDLY CONSTANT reminder of SUMMER...and WDW. She leaves hers in for more than 8 weeks, and then "CUTS" the entire wrap at the end of the new hair growth. She has a beautiful hand-painted board hanging on her wall, with all the clips from years past (13 now). Each one is fashioned with an Alligator clip in case she wishes to "wear" it again! They are all in perfect condition. I just marveled at these while in her room last eve.

She has attached endearing little notes/details on the Alligator clips with the DATE/PLACE/etc. recorded on them. She also wrote the associates "name" (whom wrapped her hair) with a special detail she recalled about them. She has delightful conversations with these persons, and always enjoys "tipping" them for any challenging requests (crossovers and patterns of color overlapping color).

It is a veritable tradition (one I wish she never outgrows), which will remain as indelible/treasured memories for her in the years to come. ;) That's a LOT of BANG for your BUCK (IMOHO).

This is the site that was listed on the handout the stylist at CR gave us last week. A few pics on it.:D I agree, it is probably DD's favorite thing to get at WDW and gets lots of comments back home. She likes to cut them out and save them, would never consider unwrapping them.

ohmigod...I could never "cut" it out. I'd rather sit there for the 45min-1 hour unwrapping the sucker than lose that much hair! I know it's not much...but still.

I think i'll definetly get it behind my ear at the hair line next time I get one...good idea...and if the hair is all nasty after I unwrap it, at least it's under the rest of my hair.

dreamflight - that is a beautiful wrap...defeintly worth the $60! I never get anything fancy except for beads/spacers at the end...and never have the extra braids at the end...very nice. and i think it's wonderful how your daughter saves them!
