Both my daughters got their first hair wrap last week at the GF. They were so excited!

Yesterday my youngest's fell out. It lasted exactly one week. I thought they lasted longer than that? Sheet they gave me says two weeks to two months. I've heard of people having them forever. She was very sad. My oldest's wrap is also looking like it will fall out soon, far from the scalp. Do you think the wrapper didn't do them tight enough? They weren't cheap!

On a similar note, does anyone save their beads to use again? Hubby was teasing me that I'm so cheap, but I don't see why we couldn't. We're going back again next month. The only thing I think we wouldn't reuse are the spacers. They were gold, but turned brown that next day after being in the pool. I wonder if the silver would hold up better?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I have to say that every year my DDs get hair wraps and they last TOO LONG sometimes. This year they did not last at all. I thought they looked well wrapped but they weren't. The silver spacers do not turn color.

Interesting. A guy did both of them and he was very fast!
If they fell out while still at WDW would they redo them?

I will get the silver spacers next month for them.

Can you buy the beads at Michaels?

Bring the beads back next trip and tell them what happened - they might even comp you for it if you still have the receipt.

I got my fourth wrap on May 10th at the Poly and it's still going strong - my other 3 have lasted anywhere from 3-8 weeks and every time I've been the one to remove them.

Even though they looked alright it sounds like something wasn't done properly.

Good luck!!! :teeth:

My DD's stayed in a couple of weeks one time. Left a tiny bald spot on her head. I don't think it's good to leave them in for too long- it pulled her hair out.

my daughter always get these we usually go down in july and they stay in until school pictures which is in October sometimes even longer I would tell them about it when you go again

I had one done last year and it lasted over a month. It slid right off my hair in one piece so I attached a hair clip to it and can still wear it as an "accessory"

A couple years ago, I was unravelling my daughters and then halfway through, the hair fell out...leaving a bald spot....she got one this trip and I keep reminding her that we can't leave it in that long. Her hair is really long...so maybe the constant tugging and weight from the beads did something for it to come out like that.

We have never had any problems with my dd's. She gets one everytime. We have had them at a variety of places too. Universal and Disney. Hers have lasted at least three months each time. And each time I have had to cut it out. We always get it done under the hair by the ears if that makes a difference. We cut it out so ours is still in contact with the hair inside it. It is a great souvenier. I do not see a problem of keeping them and using them again. I know what my daughter has invested in her beads. Sorry to hear of this problem.

We also get my DD's behind her ear so when the hair falls out, it doesn't leave an obvious bald spot. In the past we've had them last up to 5 months. Well...this past March we got one at the BW and it lasted 2 weeks and slid off. She was very upset. We typically go in March and the wrap lasts until school restarts in August. In the past the hair that was wrapped had been braided and I'm beginning to wonder if that makes a difference.

We've always kept the beads and thought about reusing them, but never have. I agree that the silver ones keep their color.

I had a hair wrap, It lasted 5 months, and hadI not removed it it would still be there!
I have very long hair and I got tired of it after all that time.

My daughter got one at the end of April while were there and it's still going strong. The silver beads have not changed color.

Wow...it must have been the hair wrapper! DD got a hair wrap one early summer trip at Downtown Disney and I cut it out the day before school started.

DH thought the price was just too high, so I found a hair wrap book and learned how to do it myself. I put some in DD's around 3 weeks ago for her softball tournaments and they still look as good as they did the day I put them in! They go swimming every day, also! It just takes practice.

I agree...must have been the person doing the wrapping.

We went down twice in 1 year--about 6 months apart. When we went down for the second trip, my daughter still had the hairwrap in from the first trip! She got another one on the other side of her head and that lasted another 5 months. The most recent one she got was last July at the Poly and we finally cut it out in early May. That's better than 9 months! She's never had one at the top of the head--always underneath near her ears. Maybe that's the trick.

My youngest's that fell out was on top of her head. My oldest still has it in, but is behind the ear. hasn't fallen out yet, but already down about an inch from her scalp.

For future reference, I did my youngest's on top cause she has a bob, my oldest had very long hair and I thought it would be easier to pull up in a ponytail underneath. Am I right?

Also, I worry now about them getting a bald spot cause they'll want another when we go back next month. Are the bald spots easier to get on top or underneath?

They both have really fine thin hair and a bald spot I think would really show. Maybe this is why it slid out so early? I dunno. One week?!?

When some of you say it was in for months, wasn't there ea huge gap between the scalp and where the warp started since the hair had grown out?

Also,,,,how long should it have took? Both of them were done within at most fifteen minutes. I thought that was fast? My oldest has hair all the way down her back.

Thanks!

Where was the wrap (top of head or behind the ear)? My DD's first wrap, a few years ago, was on the top of her head and it fell out after about two weeks.
The next time, the wrapper told me that behind the ear wraps seem to last longer and the bald spot or short hair is less noticeable when they do come out. We did behind the ear that time, in early May, and I cut it out before school started in mid- August.
She got another two weeks ago and it is still in and doesn't look like it's near falling out. It's behind her ear, also.

I think 15 minutes - especially for the longer hair - is to short of a time. My DD got one done at the Hard Rock in Feb. She has very long hair (see photos) and it took him a good 25 - 30 minutes. Also, they should have told you right out that the gold spacers will rust after a day - always use silver.

My DD's lasted until I finally made her take it out. She had it done from the scalp and I had no problem putting it up in a pony or barrettes. I got kinda grossed out after a month and half and made her take it out - I was worried that the hair wasn't getting clean underneath, but it was fine. It was a bit frizzy from the wrap for a day, but just fine. I would definately go somewhere else for your girl's next wrap, it doesn't sound like they did a very good job :(

Oh, and I did save the larger beads, they were very pretty and I think DD made a necklace from them. Here is the link to the picture of her wrap right after she got it done: http://www.amazon.ofoto.com/ShareLa...t_signin=BrowsePhotos.jsp?showSlide=true&Ux=1 . You can see the wrap goes below her hair in front.

TigerLilly's Mom, ya I would say my daughter's hair is as long as your daughter's. It took the guy around 15 minutes for both her and her sister!

Just back. My daughters both got another wrap, this time at AK. Once again my youngest's fell out early, actually it lasted even less time this time around - 5 days!!! I really think it must be due to her hair being so thin and fine, she is only three years old. It also wasn't done very tight, her beads on the bottom were loose and two broke off so the thread showed. Oh, well. I have to get her one cause she would be upset if her older sister got one and she didn't.
My six year old's is still in, we got it up top this time. It is also hanging down pretty far though, but still in. I doubt it will last long enough for school which starts in less than two weeks. I know she will be disappointed in that.

I thought about letting them get their hair braided half way instead of the wrap, but the price was so steep!

Did you reuse your beads from last time?
