Hi everyone, is there hair wrapping by the Poly pool? Are there activities by the Poly pool for little ones? Getting ready for my upcoming trip to the Poly/June 13.

Thanks in advance for any information!

Hi there. When we were staying at the Poly last year we didnt notice the hairwrappers (so to speak). I wanted to get my hair wrapped also. Some of my bridal party was at the AS Movies and I noticed them there and got it done there.
I also dont think that were childrens activities at the pool either. At least at the times that we were there. The volcano slide is awesome though I sure that your kids will love that.

Hope this helps. Have a magical day.

You can get your hair wrapped by the Polynesian pool. There is a stand near the outdoor bar. I thought they did offer pool games too. If someone else doesn't remember for sure, I'll try to find my info.

Back in March the hair wrap stand was there. It was mainly open from around noon to about 4 each day.

They had pool games around 1-2pm every day. Where were there for the games every day of our trip.

Im sorry// I honestly didnt see them there when we were there in June. From what others are saying about the time that would explain why because we were at the pool a little later in the afternoon..... Since we were our honeymoon we went to parks in the morning came back to the pool in the afternoon, showered changed and went out for a nice dinner.

Once again Im very sorry. I wish I would have know about them being at the Poly pool it would have been alot easier.

I had my hair wrapped on our last trip on Boardwalk. The girl was awesome. My wrap lasted 5 weeks and then I just slid it off and was able to knot and keep it as a souvenir.

mom_rules:
DD had one done at the Swan pool. (Beware - it was $6. flat rate plus $2 per inch - DD's was 16inches long!! - $38+5 tip  )
Anyway how were you able to slide it off? The girl told us to soak in conditioner and it would unravel.
DD would love to keep her's
Thanks!

Yes they do. We were there three weeks ago and there were plenty getting it done. As someone else said it is right next to the pool bar in a gazebo type stand.

ScarletIndigo -
They take about 4 colors of thin yarn (say, scarlet, indigo, yellow and green LOL :p )
and tie it to the root area (at the top of the head) of a small amount of hair (like a mini ponytail)
They then twist and wrap the yarn in various patterns around the hair, and put beads on the end.
The end result is a long colorful piece of hair hanging from your head. (in our case for the low, low price of $42.!)
I hope that makes sense
Sorry I don't have a picture to post.

That sounds cute! I would love to see a picture if anyone has one.

I'm guessing the $42 cost was just for one strand ... Can't imagine the expense for having all of your hair wrapped! Yikes! ;-)

IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE HAIR LENGTH, BUT MYSELF AND 2 DAUGHTERS WHICH ALL HAVE LONG HAIR WAS 75.00. BUT IT LAST A VERY LONG TIME!! WE GOT OURS END OF NOV. AND FINALLY CUT THEM OUT IN APRIL, AND THEY COULD HAVE STAYED IN LONGER. ANYWAY IT SEEMS EXPENSIVE BUT THEY DO LAST ALONG TIME. WE HAVE GOTTEN THEM 3 YEARS IN A ROW.

Hi Sonogirl,

Did you all get just a few strands done, or your whole head? It sounds like such a funky idea, I don't know if I'd be able to stop with just one strand of hair, I'd prolly go crazy and do the whole thing! ;-)

At Boardwalk is was $1.50 per inch plus the cost of bead. I had a 10 inch wrap, 4 colours, 7 beads for $21.30 tax included. I just pulled a few strand out a time and near the end it slid off when I was washing my hair. It came off all in one piece. I knotted the end and was able to keep it.

Checked the "Island Palm Press" and it lists pool games at 3:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The other days have an Arcade Challenge with a free round and highest scorer gets a prize. The Polynesian also has Arts and Crafts and Disney movies each day from 12-4 at the Neverland Club.

May I make a suggestion at this point? My dd has had this done several times. The first time she had the wrap started at her part. When it came out, she had a tiny bald spot there!!! The hair does sometimes break off!! The next time she had it done, she had it done behind her ear, underneath her hair! She wore her hair in a pony-tail most of the time,so the wrap showed up very nicely. Just a thought.

I agree goofy4tink, we lways get ours started right behind our ears, my girls wear their hair in ponys alot too. And Scarlet we only had one wrap done per person, I don't think I ever saw anyone with more than one. We might try the hair braiding at GF this year.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your responses, DD can't wait. But, now that I read sonogirl's post my DD would prefer the hair braiding. I wasn't aware that GF has this. Do I need to make a reservation now (arriving June 13)? How much does it cost? I'd greatly appreciate any information on this.

Thanks in advance!

It's amazing how I learn something new on these boards everytime I visit, you guys are great!

Thanks again!

I would book it now. They do get very busy.

Okay everyone- I have said no to the hair wrap everytime we are in WDW because of the cost, so when I saw this I knew I could enlighten you all!!! The Conair Hair Wrapper!!! I bought it for 20 dollars at Target, and purchased additional string at Joann Fabrics for refills, at $2 for 300 yards!! It comes in all colors, plus rainbow, varigated, gold or silver sparkle with color. The kit comes with 2 colors and beads. Best of all it works, is tight and lasts as long as you want. For my 8 DD birthday sleepover, I did all 10 girls hair, and weeks later they still had them in. A true bargain comparatively, and you can have it any time you want. More money to spend on other things Disney!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc
